Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It seems to be stuck in hover mode, I hope it'll take the SRV. I'll need to give the computer a Prozac when I get onboard.

Heh, currently, I have two! I would gladly swap one, if I could.

Honestly, I'd be down with FDev making the Cobra MKIV available to all, even if it was an ARX purchase to unlock it - it's a great ship, a little less maneuverable than the MK III, with all 5 hardpoints on the topside, so not an ideal combat ship, but Class 4 FSD and Power Plant internals, and 4x Class 4 Optional internals make for a versatile 'mini-Python'.

I'm cool with exclusive stuff like custom decals, tweaked ship kits, niche/engineered modules, Unique Paintjobs etc as CG rewards, but I'm not big on 'you gotta buy X version of the game' exclusive content, which is what the MKIV is atm.

I saw the CG had dropped, but I don't think I'll be participating in this one.

Not sure I'll like it if only the new ships can fit the new drives (especially if they are just straight up better all 'round than FSD's), but eh, what will be will be
I nominate SpaceGoblin for Frontier forum union rep.

That went well.

Not.

Approached the wreck of Taranis and, in my naivety, I hadn't planned for the caustic cloud. Before I could reach a repair shop I got boiled up. You live and learn.

I'm now off to a rescue ship for some proper gear...

... which I've almost now got but I understand I need some funky cargo racks. Could someone enlighten me as to what they are and where I can get them? This rescue ship doesn't have anything other tha standard racks.

EDIT Found it :D

Can't you burn it off by diving into a star? I thought I heard that once!

Depends on if you can make it to the star before the caustic goop chewed up your ship...
You could also switch to silent running and cook that stuff off that way.
But both methods need some finesse not to overcook your ship. Well done might be a little too much.

I've been surprised at just how heat-resilient ships are, at least if upgraded/engineered a bit - managed to save my Anaconda from caustic death well under 10% hull iirc, by boiling it up over 200% :]

I've dusted off the Anaconda. She's now at the "Imperial Sanctum" for some module refits. I'll just her full of everything I can lay my hands on that might help my trip to Taranis.

It's actually the first time I've splashed the cash on anything ship-wise for an age.

EDIT And my plans are already scuppered as I don't have the materials for ACCR's or MAHR's.

I have just been to Taranis in this ship, no luck yet but got in and out successfully with no significant damage.

I've flown in and seen some stuff that I could retrieve but... I can't gab them as (I think) I don't have an ACCR and it says my inventory is full.

Still, I survived the visit due to me actually deploying caustic sinks this time :D

Back to CZ's for me I think.

I got my corrosion resistant racks by buying them at Prof Palins outfitting shop for ~12k credits, the only stuff I picked up were Corrosive Shards and Corrosive Mechanisms which you can use to synth Caustic Sink ammo so the racks weren't needed as those were materials.

Sounds like you grabbed all the Limpets that weren't behind the next crate on three...
