Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I hope some intrepid and battle-hardened space warriors boil up that titan: it keeps appearing on my FSS and I think I've something different for a change. Get's me in every system I go to :D
I cannot claim to be intrepid, but a lot of my squadron are deploying to head it off, so I have strapped some AX gear on a Mandalay and a Chieftan (!) and am heading out with them. It's the last one and some very new content so figured I'd give it a bash. Feels a little like the Home Guard suddenly being deployed to the front, though. Steady, Mainwaring!!

Maverick suit with no guns. I had no intention of shooting anyone.

Took a single e-breach and found an outdoor console to hack.

Nice. Now I knew where to go, the unlock code, and had nothing illegal on me so even if I did get scanned it should be ok.

As it turns out, there weren't many guards, and I don't know if it's intentionally part of the game if you show up unarmed, but the civilian NPCs gave me lines like 'nice to see a new face'. Had to clone a couple of IDs, but paid attention to the minimap and made sure nobody else was nearby. Once inside, found my container and already had the code.

Turns out "Powerplay Goods" have a variety of names and visuals. I ended up with 3 of these and some medical records, all of which I could turn in to a power contact.

And now to go back for 1-2 more settlements because I'm only at 4/10 items. I wasn't quite sure whether they'd take any stolen goods if they caught me on the 2nd run so I made sure to go hand these in and verify I was doing it right 😸

Edit: went back, finished my 10 items. Got spotted twice, incurred fines. I clearly need to understand the rules of how not to get rumbled.

Edit edit: went to pay my fines. Someone has been meddling with this outpost...

So the NPC's are getting nicer, i usually get rude remarks if i wander around settlements.
It's been several weeks since i've done any ground missions tough.

I just blew up some rocks for materials. Haven't done that in ages! Reminded of doing the circuits around Dav's Hope -which is another thing I haven't done for ages. Mind you, it's lost its appeal since TPTB decided to move it away from the mountain and into darkness.

One thing I'm hoping to run into this trip out is an NSP. I must be due one soon as that's been aeons too :D

I think I might get a new paint job for my Mandalay. This is the "no paint" option:

Those circles from the downlights are a bit funky. They (for some obscure reason) remind me of when The Mysterons show up.

I haven't found a way of using PayPal for xtra Arx for a gloss black paint job as yet - so, in the meantime i have been working on my "custom" paint job - 30KLY+ edition ;)

It's disappointing that the Cobra MkV isn't a medium but it did look a bit small. It's not too much of a suprise. Being big enough for a fighter hanger would've been ideal but the extra hardpoint at least brings it up to MkIV level in that regard. I probably won't rush out to buy it immediately but it's definitely a future purchase so far. I've just no interest in finally having that crew space if all the NPC can do is fire a turret weapon.

And of course they ramp up activity in the bubble while I'm out in Colonia. I may head to the discord to find a fleet carrier heading back in that direction. I was mostly just out here to have a peek around and make some casholla monies anyway.

The colonisation looks interesting too. It seems to be quite time consuming, which I think is the correct approach. As long as people find it enjoyable enough to make it feel balanced. Though, knowing the playerbase, you'll probably login one day to find that people have figured out a way to colonise half the galaxy in 24 hours.

It was only meant to be a quick jump but Ratraii was full of bounty targets. I interdicted one guy and it turned out to be six with as many system security turning up after. Just run of the mill bounty stuff though. No elite Anacondas.

Only one player in the system. Maybe heading for the same carrier.

Aaaand I just remembered I have to log back in and ship the Cobra aboard. Assuming that's possible.

Hi :)

Do I see this correctly that cargo delivery mission target destinations are nowadays about 250 - 350 ly away from the starting system?

Yes, those missions pop up on a fairly regular basis now. I've done one or two in the past, but I don't bother with those now because if you're allied with the factions in the system, and have a good record, supply missions (depending on the commodity) pays a lot better, and are quicker to do generally.
For example, when I've been out mining I nearly always drop in to my 'Home' systems 'base station' first (The station I keep all my ships & modules at) I'm allied with all the local factions there so I tend to get really good well paying supply missions, (especially Gold & Palladium).

Jack :)
