Yes, yes indeed - anything for science!Perhaps I'll build another one without stability and compare. For science.

Yeah, I've only ever used it to assassinate from a distance. It becomes useful (i’d dare say essential even) when using an Exie as more of an open combat weapon, rather than just for sniping - i’ve been using it in combination with a more snappy standard range build on a Dominator as a bit of an experiment …the rather hectic kick despite stabilisation tends to limit it to more snipey stuff, ie: from a fixed position - also wondering if this might just be a result of the stability mod conflicting with faster handling, which i add to all my combat builds![]()
Night vision on the Arty? Hmm, never thought of that as I always do my exo stuff on the light side of the planet. Are there some species that only grow in the dark? Here's how I set up my suits:
Dominator Suit
︎ Faster Shield Regen
︎ Night Vision
︎ Improved Battery Capacity
︎ Damage Resistance
Maverick Suit
︎ Extra Backpack Capacity
︎ Night Vision
︎ Improved Battery Capacity
︎ Faster Shield Regen
Artemis Suit
︎ Night Vision
︎ Improved Jump Assist
︎ Increased Sprint Duration
︎ Improved Battery Capacity
For what it's worth, that's what I decided was best for me.
By the way, and this hasn't been said yet, the shotgun (Intimidator) has a much longer range if you aim down the sights. It really closes up the spread, too. People think of the shotgun as a close-up weapon only, but it's not.
Not that I am aware of but there are some pretty dim planets out there and way back when I bought my Artemis with Night Vision I was still landing almost anywhere, I was even still using the SRV. It seemed to me it was less of an energy hog than the torch.Night vision on the Arty? Hmm, never thought of that as I always do my exo stuff on the light side of the planet. Just like upgrading the suit itself, it’s not absolutely essential - but it sure can help… for night hunts (some Fungoida & Concha will only appear on the dark side of a body) or in any area with deep shadows (they also tend to be fond of narrow valleys/trenches) - or to distinguish finely patterned bio’s from textured terrain on foot, ie: it can actually be easier to find those notoriously elusive Frutexa Flammasis with night vision in deep shadow than in broad daylight…Night vision on the Arty? Yep, most of them glow at least a bit in the dark, with some subspecies clearly luminescent.Yeah, as it happened my first ever outing on the surface in an Artemis was on a planet a long way out from a brown dwarf. It was... a very brown experience. Nice green outlines around the brown bits showing up on the other brown bits actually would have helped, and the lights on the SRV tended to just make it browner. In the dark on a white-ish icy body if you put the ship at the top of a valley it's pretty much light enough to find all three samples as you work down the valley, so it's very terrain and spectral-type dependent.
I have anecdotally noticed Fungoida Setisis (the one that likes heights) seems to like the shady side of ridges, but I haven't scienced it yet... [edit:ninja'd by @[M] ]and isn't one of the Fungoida bioluminescent?
Fonticulua Digitos (not sure of exact spelling tbh - the small, spiky cactus-like ones) are very seldom found away from ice caps/polar regions - the “heat map” may show much broader areas of blue, but the actual location seems dependent on sufficient ice/snow. Tussock Pennata also tend to favour alpine conditions. In general though "likes the dark" would require a tidally locked body, unless it can deal with temperatures of <20k in which case I guess "in the interstellar dark" works. It would actually be fun if there were species that required that but I don't think there is? Is there a polar-only species, whilst we're on the topic?
It was on there when I bought it. It has occasionally been useful or interesting.Night vision on the Arty? Hmm, never thought of that as I always do my exo stuff on the light side of the planet. Are there some species that only grow in the dark?
Remember that having your shield on prevents most falling damage. It’s saved me a couple times.a tougher suit for scrambling around difficult terrain or scaling mountains.
Occasionally, but can be very useful. One case is mountaineous species, like fungoida. Mountains often means shadows, and fungoida are rather clearly visible with nightvision.Night vision on the Arty? I tend to turn off lights when strolling in the dark. It severely limits my range of vision. Thus night vision is my best friend. It seemed to me it was less of an energy hog than the torch.
I think being in my situation would bring you to the brink of running amok.Didn't get any game time in today. Outrageous.
I think we should be thankful that it isn't 5,000 meters. Or more.oh the agony!
As you can see my ship is perched on a cliff, I was worried I would come back to find it at the bottom of a chasm.I think we should be thankful that it isn't 5,000 meters. Or more.
