Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

This evening I was 94% expert.
Went scout hunting out of Merope, now 2% Master.
As an aside, I'm now turning a decent profit by staying out until I've earned 200k in bounties (20 kills) before returning to rearm, and jumping into Pleiades main sequence systems and mapping them while destroying Thargoids. It's not void opals but it's money for having fun for a change. Additionally, I'm maxing out my weekly arx allowance on kills and exploration very easily.
I shall post a music video of my exploits scout busting in the Pleiades once it's completed. Might be a week or so.
Enjoy your evening all....

Been out doing assists at a Guardian module site, great stuff.
A surprising number of Commanders have been turning up.
No funny business either.
Apart from when every target on my scanner and HUD was grey. Oops!
Sorry about that thought you were a Sentinel!
Not a big fan of the SRV, but these Guardian sites are enjoyable.

Edit: Ah. Forgot that scrapping Sentinels pushes your combat rating up. :(
So... Might go back to the bubble and build another T-9.

It's a good choice :) I believe it can push 70 if you really strip it, but I favour having twin rovers and a bigger fuel tank. As yet, I don't think I've had problems with that 10% lower range, but maybe if I was heading for the edge of the disk it would start to show more... Last time I faced the void was in an Asp :)

Also, your user icon gives me major nostalgia and made me feel old. Thanks I guess.

I opted out of advanced mining and went black hole diving.I don't know if it's a sport, yet, but it has potential. It was certainly exhilerating.

At first,on entering the system,i turned away and ran my engines up to 1104c , which put the *a 300kls astern.I was chasing an optical illusion of some sort,as it maintained it's distance some way ahead but it made a good reference point to aim for. Then i ran in on it.Things started popping about 43 ls out even though my approach speed was low and the angle of entry shallow.I pulled up and managed to escape the gravity well with minimal damage. The second pass i repeated the pattern as before but waited for the spike before pulling out,and this time damage was more severe and after repairs i made a third attempt, this time nose down, and nudged it in ,making it down to 41.8ls before recovering.
AFMU exhausted, it's back to explorers anchorage for me.
Fit me some heatsinks and try again tomorow.:)

Exclusion zone! 39.9 Another facepalm moment.:)

Do you have a revolver with a single bullet in it for when you get really bored? ;)

I have a plan for the next few days: not go back to a station to hand in carto data until I have enough to become an Elite 'splorer.

But then, all the best laid plans...

We shall see :D

Lord, what a fail. I bottled it as I thought I was hoarding tons of data. Turns out it was a measly 7% and 13mCR. But I can smell it... it's getting there, on the horizon, a goal that's visibly reachable now.

I may break for a hort while though as I'm hearing honks in my sleep.

And, just last night, I could have sworn Mrs. Tyres said to me: "System scan... complete". But that may not have happened 🤔

Out at the Eskimo Nebula playing with the black hole. IRL the Eskimo Nebula is believed to be a planetary nebula, a nova remnant. However, it is different in ED, more like a supernova remnant. The Eskimo Nebula is ~800 ly from Jameson, so it's easy to get to. The system inside the nebula contains a very large blue type O giant (92 solar masses) and a black hole (24x solar masses). Since the surrounding nebula seems to be a supernova remnant, the star causing the supernova must have been big. I mean, most of it seems to be hanging around the black hole in the nebula. The main star is only 2 million years old, so I guess the black hole giant was same age. Live fast, die young.

Been testing the Asp with a new PP. I went from 2A (G2 Overcharged, Thermal Spread) to 3A (G3 Low Emission). That's a joy. It runs considerably cooler than the old one, meaning you can mostly charge the FSD inside the corona, and it's 1.7 T extra mass, so I kicked out the SRV. Win-win! I think I'll try G5 and a Thermal Spread experimental when I get back. Currently it idles at 16% heat. Not bad.

@Phongsalt

Black holes are not as dangerous as one might expect, unless you ram them, hammer down in SC :D I've been to a few of them recently, and I try to find the "event horizon" (exclusion zone). It seems to be at 42.4 km for most of them. If you slow down before you hit them, to 30 km/s in SC at a distance of 3-400 km, and then go very easy on the throttle, you get a magnificent show of lensing. Especially in VR it messes with your understanding of space. Drop out of SC at ~200 km and go as close to the black hole as you can. The final couple of km your PP temp. will rise, but if you're in a DBX you'll be fine. Once you hit the exclusion zone you can't get any further, but if you're out of SC you won't get a scratch. At the exclusion zone, the lensing is extreme. Try to approach with some contrast in the background. It's trippy.

Now look here, old man,i think there is something you should be aware of before you get in too ...JPG
No, i have a man to do that for me. :)
Just giddy with excitement at the prospect of being back in the seat. And re-learning stuff like exclusion zones still exist and dont bind both heatsinks to the same trigger .Doh!
We survived the experience quite comfortably .

@WeComeInPeace

I don't have trouble understanding space, its the properties of light i have trouble wrapping my head round.(Well, that and the propensity of oomans to perpetuate folly). And Jamieson is an offal long way away.Four corners is closer and i've not been there, neither.

Came back from the Guardian sites, what to do, what to do...
Human Tech Broker! Haven't unlocked any of that stuff. Right.

So, several hours later, all unlocked bar four items which need some Thargoid bits. I'm still not combating at the moment, so that's something for later.

Unlocking these has wiped out my Technetium stock, had to trade most of my other G4s, so it's off to the Crystalline Shard sites with a side order of exploration.

Odds on I'll get distracted by something shiny in the distance.

As promised.
Well that is impressive...Here was i thinking I had to over engineer a cutter just to feel safe.
How did you avoid the corrosive green goo?
What is extra in your phantom build that helps you survive?
I need to face my Tgoid fears and have a go at this level of fighting to speed rank from 54% competent..:alien:

I should add that I am still only using a laptop, mouse and in my face 30 inch monitor ( peripheral vision is focused when on combat, just like being there).
No sticks involved.

Didn’t spot how they did it but there are two ways of dealing with corrosion besides docking at a station one is to fit a Decontamination limpet controller and carry limpets but they stop working when shot at, the other is to cook your ship at a point somewhere above 150% heat the corrosive is destroyed but that causes additional damage.

Of course with sufficient luck and skill it is possible to not fly through corrosive debris clouds or be hit by missiles but one of the other approaches is more likely to work out in the long term.

Thanks, I tried the heat option a while back, it just a scary as being hit. Timing was every thing....I think it will be run away and decon limpets for me

Wowsers! Completionist ! What kind of mega-super guardian-enhanced uber-rig are you building? And will it be ready in time? Will it require a fleet carrier to facilitate it's expedition? Will a squadroon be inaugurated on launch? So many questions! Your public demands answers!
