Having clocked in >1.3B in Exploration Data, visited Beagle Point, discovering plenty of Earth-Like Worlds and having tagged a few Codex 1st Discoveries in multiple Sectors, I remembered I forgot something lol

On the way out, my intention was to hit the Colonia Engineers and pin some Blueprints (and add G5 Lightweight Life Support to my Ship).

So instead of returning home, I'll make a possibly longer pitstop in Colonia. Having lived there for ~1.5 years, old stomping grounds.
Might stay a little in Colonia, will have to see.

The TEV Aurora is still almost at 100%, only a too-fast Glide entry attempt crunched a bit of PowerPlant Integrity xD

Orion-Cygnus Arm :

The melodic structure of contemplative achievement in space.
Jings! Just catching up on the post. You guys make it sound like you're popping out to the shop for a pint of milk.Miners,eh!The sound of that sweet sweet scent of void opal
I'm hove to about 10 jumps from the black hole mentioned in the codex for this sector.Crossed from Inner Scutum-Centaurus last night, so getting lots of FD hits with a bonus in blooies.Coo!
Retuning sensors, engines and repairing hull minor damage.Bins full of the stuff i need and most of the stuff i don't use,so the buggy is once again deadweight most of the time, but i break it out once in a while just to make sure:).
Feet up on the dash, mug of something in my hand and head in a map.Time for a little astro-navigational theory.oh,yeah! yummy.:)

I did it, I destroyed my first Thargoid Interceptor.

Only the weakest of the bunch, the Cyclops variant. Still a worthy test of my skills to be sure.

My first three attempts ended in me tucking tail and waking out back to port, but only due to running out of ammunition for the remote flak and not having the foresight to make sure I had enough mats for ammo refills.

On the fourth try, I had enough practice to successfully utilise the remote flak on the swarm, and the familiarity with the both the limits of Invictus and the attack patterns of the Cyclops.

There were some real hairy moments. At one point she disabled Invictus and as we sat there dead in the water, the swarm circling like sharks, I truly thought it was over.

System rebooted just in the nick of time, and as I thanked my lucky stars I resolved that this battle would only end with either myself or my quarry being embraced by the cold silence of the void.

I wasn’t quite expecting the beast to make such a mournful cry as I dealt the coup de grâce. I was shocked to find the explosion cover Invictus in acid, but I told myself I wasn’t too far from Alcazar’s Hope.

It was definitely a tense moment trying to touch down with 26% hull left, but as my landing gear gripped the pad, I realised I had made it and my battle was properly won.

You're tempting me to get the AX FAS out again.
I really wanted to wait for the AX CZs to make a reappearance.
I'm gonna go have a play around at the Guardian sites while I think about it.

I’m doing nothing except lie in bed and crawl downstairs to replenish supplies occasionally due to having ‘flu 🤒 (and this despite having had the vaccine!)

I had grand hopes for doing a bit of beta testing, some engineer unlocking and a test flight of Hecla, but this isn’t going to be happening anytime soon now :(

It does give me a good excuse to make the odd medicinal hot toddy though ;)

I recommend a good brandy to wash down a heaped teaspoon of 10+ manuka honey.

I haven't been able to climb into the pilots seat today. Yet.

I will do so later.

In the meantime, I'll have a think about what I'll do. Lots I need to be about but I think I'll change my mind at the last minute and do something non-productive. As usual.
Her grace would appreciate some assistance mucking out the stalls,no doubt.Talking of which, McCaffrey always used to carry a pocketful of sprouts as treats, using them to great effect in tight turns and evasive manoeuvres.

Latest Update on the Incompetent Commander Saga.....

Flushed with pride over the new load out on my prized Adder, I picked up a rich sightseer at White Ring in Gitse offering loads of cash for s sightseeing trip to Procyon.

Easy I thought. Trip will make rich just from the Cartographics.

A 7 jump trip with many a refuelling opportunity seemed straightforward for this new crate.

As I powered up for the first jump, I noticed a red warning: Illegal passenger. Okayyyyyyy. More interesting.

Nevertheless the trip to Procyon Tourist Beacon, with a short refuel at some orbiting junk of a station two jumps out, and some minor heat sink requirements at a white dwarf and a purple star, still seemed ok until she wanted to then visit Procyon B 5 instead.

She was paying, so ok. But I couldn’t reach Procyon B 5. Ever time I went into Supercruise I had to hit the emergency brake before hitting the planet. Dumbfounded I flew back thinking I would get a reward for the Tourist Beacon trip at least. But no mission is not completed.

But oh no I get a fine of 300 CR for the illegal passenger that I had forgotten about.

Re fuelled I try again with the Procyon B 5 destination, but oh no she now wants some Consumer Tech. Fortunately I had cashed in on about 50k in Cartographics.

On returning to Procyon I realise my mistake with the planet and head to the rendezvous point in orbit rather than the planet itself. Doh! Though nothing lost I decide a single hop to the nex5 star system to stock up on Consmer Tech.

Happy passenger gives me 70k, but mission still not complete and I have to return to the Procyon Tourist Beacon.

Groundhog Day.

But on doing this she is finally content and wants to return home to White Ring. I can see that 500k pay off just round the corner.

7 hops later and a short refuel (by now almost 1am) I return tired and satisfied to White Ring, and as I jump out of hyperspace I notice Illegal Passenger has now turned to wanted. Damn I didn’t pay that 300 CR!!!!

4ks out though from a White Ring, I get the 500k payout and hi-tail out of there. Only I don’t as the Station guns open up on me as I lin3 u0 my jump.

Bang. An insurance payout, loss of all my ill gotten gains and I’m now in a penal colony.

How not to spend a Friday night.

Have I learnt? Yes, it’s a spate of CQC for this embarrassed CMDR.

That sort of awkward customer was why I gave up the self-loading cargo runs very rapidly :)

It’s amazing how many of these characters are not “aid workers” or “tourists”, but a bunch of crims on the run from The Law! (It is also surprising how many of them suddenly feel the need to buy a washing machine or something en-route. One would think they would just like to lie low for a while, or go somewhere well out of the way)

Sorry you had to see the re-buy screen as a result :( Stick to hauling inert cargo that doesn’t talk back and change it’s mind on a whim, it’s much less hassle :) )

Well, I did nothing productive, as predicted.

Annoyingly, I never have the right stuff on me to explore these things when I find them:

Is that some sort of mega-ship or an installation? If you hang around long enough, some jolly friendly types might pop by for a chat whilst you are there ;)

Alternatively, it might have some hackable thingies which you need the recon limpets for. See my fairly recent post for what happens when you try to innocently get a bit of data out of them :) :D

In my (admittedly limited) experience with the shadier side of tourism, they use the washing machines to launder their ill gotten gains .
If i noticed that i had picked up an unwanted guest i would re-enter the station and dump the mission.I didn't get paid, they didn't get a free ride.
sounds fair.
I always ignored passenger requests, anyway. And what's the deal with the high profile explorer who get the hump if a landing is sometimes a bit bumpy.
I was once hired to take one of these types and her 'entourage' to a beacon somewhere along the bubble/sag a* route about 5kly from colonia. It turned out to be a system containing an actual coriolis, which i was not expecting.(I later learned it was a truck-stop).
So of course i landed straight away and conducted the normal transactions, sold the data, cargo, refuel etc.A few hours sleep and on to the beacon, then fly back.Except it took me a while to find the blasted thing. As soon as the scan finished, all hell broke loose. They demanded to be taken to the nearest station, threatening to jump ship if i didnt comply within ten minutes.Well, obviously i'm not gonna get paid on this one! So i went full F/A off and gave them a highspeed tour of the system, which, to be frank, they didn't handle too well. We landed with a few seconds to spare, and the sorriest collection of vomit stained individuals tottered down the gangway, green around the gills.
It was cheaper to replace the cabin than clean it.
I mean,c'mon, what kind of explorer has never bumped into a star?

Get well enough to fly soon.

Apart from disagreements about the cost or directions of the changes being tested it appears that most of them are successful certainly the things I have tried seem to be working as described by FD, more to try tomorrow.

dude,i dont'even know what i'm supposed t be looking at. :)

It was an "Aquila Class Tanker". Nothing much happened. But I lacked the gear needed to do scan stuff for data or whatever. Still, they're fun to fly around as they are pretty unique looking.

We need more different looking stuff. For instance, given Jameson is for the elite, it could with a makeover to make look more "special".
