Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Finally got 7A thrusters on my Anaconda, and have started engineering them (dirty drives). Thing is, I waited so long doing other things that I got used to the ship being sluggish, so now I have myself half convinced that it is fast and nimble. Patience paying off. Still on an 8B power plant but other than that it is all A rated (okay, D life support) and engineering coming along nicely, so aiming for my first 'Elite' rating by hauling significant freight. Think I'm 272T, less than some but big for me and that in a ship with a passenger cabin (easy money and takes me to nice places to boost my exploration income), a fighter hangar and decent weapons/shields. Love an all rounder, me.

The time has come...

... to get some Guardian stuff done. I want that FSD booster!

Decided to use the AspX as it has two SRV bays and a point defence mounted atop the hull - which, apparently, is something I'll need. The odd thing is, I fitted it and was told it needed a fire group assignation. But you don't actually have to assign it as it's not actually available to set up o_O

I've heard you can "park" your ship fairly near to the ruins so does the point defence on the ship work automatically while I'm in the SRV?

I need to do some research before I actually take off but the nearest apparent site is 21 jumps away - not too shabby. I'll probably get blown up a bit before I get the hang of it but
Dust myself down, patch myself up and we go again...

Yes the PDT engages the sentinels' missiles whist you are in the buggy. So park close enough also I like to have two PDTs on top, less chance of any missiles getting through.

Ooh, look forward to hearing how it goes. It's the first thing I'm going to do once I have the 8A power plant for the Anaconda. Sitting at around 30ly range, the idea of adding 10ly to that makes me come over all quivery. I know nothing about Guardian stuff so very keen to hear how you find it as a first-timer.

Good luck!

2 PDTs... I'll pop a second one on before I set out (tomorrow probably) (y)
I took my AspX out to the Guardian site with only one PDT. It was a challenge to find a spot with enough room to land, but I did. At any rate one PDT was enough to keep the missiles away from my SRV.
Make sure to scan the systems with your FSS on the way out. It will make for a nice haul of exploration data when you get back to the bubble.

I just did the missions to get access to Liz Ryder. Now I need to collect the items to "donate" to her so I can engineer my missile rack. I also need to collect a few more mats to ensure I get it fully to G5, so I will spend some time hitting some HGE sights to build up my manufactured materials. After that I can work on unlocking the next engineer to get my lasers up to G5 as well.

I've been around a lot of Guardian sites, some have better landing spots than others.
Some, you can pretty much land in the site, BUT this can then give you problems with the SRV turret not deploying.

Ships I've found good for parking:
DBX, AspX, Asp Scout, Keelback.

Tried using the Anaconda, for jump range, but it was a pain to get parked. :D (y)

I took my trusty AspX to go FSD booster material collecting. I put three pdts on top, just to be sue :D It certainly made a very pretty light show :)

The site I went to had a very handy Asp-sized flat area very close to the “bottom right” of the structure (if the “top“ is where the altar-y bit is). Take a cruise around it before landing, and have a look; time spent in reconnaissance is never wasted :)

If at all possible, try and land in daylight. I believe it is dark there a lot of the time, and it certainly was when I did it; this means having to use the night-vision, and this renders it more of a game of “Battlezone” than it really should be, in my view ;) It looks like there are some really well-put together buildings and things, but with just the NV and the SRV headlights, it is hard to appreciate it fully.

You’ll also need to re-log and do the run 5 or 6 times to rob the graves enough to get what you need, and I found it got remarkably tedious, but that might just be a jaded view point on my part, so don’t take too much notice :D

Today I unlocked Elvira Martuk on the alt account, and got her to Grade 4.5 access. She can do shields to Grade 3 which is what I want from her, so all's good there. And getting her to 4 opened up some of the other engineers.

I now have 2 fully upgraded FSDs, one in the 'conda and one in the DBX, so traveling is much easier now. Did I mention I'm spoiled when it comes to jump range? My partially engineered biweave shield on the 'conda is up to 1,000 MJ with some resistances...it should be good enough for the moment.

I think I'll probably do Tod the Blaster next, and that'll open up Selene Jean and then Didi for shield boosters. I do love shield boosters.

I'm rambling. Hi, commanders! What's up?

What are your jump ranges now?

Good tips both, thank you. Guess when I do this I'll take T6/Keelback rather than Anaconda!

You could always try the dbs.

Try the DBS.It will go places even the dbx can't.Cost and rebuy are both phenomenally low.
