A small update on my quest for triple Elite rank ... another milestone. Now at 50% Deadly - halfway there!Still working on the triple elite thing.
Combat rank is now at 33% Deadly... so I'm calling that another milestone.

Actually, no. I'm quite enjoying it. When I have some play time I just take my Corvette and my Elite SLF pilot out to a nearby High RES and shoot up anything Wanted & Dangerous or above. It's great fun swinging the 'Vette through the 'roids. The progress is going faster than I expected to be honest.Just curious: are you finding it a grind?

It started off more slowly as I was using my Conda, taking a bunch of collector limpets with me and stopping to pick up mats. The system I'm using has a manufactured material trader and I ended up with so many mats from each session that it was easy to trade up for the G5s and get my Corvette engineering finished. After that I started just using the 'Vette and ignoring the mats collecting so the progress really sped up (relatively).
... but then when I attack wings of three I normally take out the lead and she takes out the other two which saves me some time so I don't mind so much. You know your pilot is taking half of your XP, right?
On other words, if you'd not been using a pilot, you'd be combat elite now.
Oh, I'm not denying that. Its still slower your way.
What's the hurry?I had to let mine go because she made too many and ranked me up to mostly harmless .It's still slower that way.
Now I know why in the Star Trek universe, they sent out a Galaxy class starship (which in the shows/movies ended up 0 - 3...not a good combat rate). Anyway, I understand their reasoning. You send out a huge starship with lots of people on it and things to keep them occupied when off-duty. You know, familes, Ten-Forward, the Holo-Decks...
Because Stellar Cartography is BLOODY BORING!!!
I jumped out about 10klys from my home port...I was gonna go 30klys, but after 180 jumps, I decided 10,000 was far enough. So I get to a nice G Class and using it as my center point, I started hitting the stars around it. I guess I picked a really crappy area because out of the 10 star systems I've jumped into and scanned, 8 of them have been Brown Dwarfs. Mind you, they are only 1.5 to 4 lys away so I really am not worried about fuel, and it's not like I am jumping far and if and when I need to fuel, the G Class isn't far away.
But now, I understand why they sent them out on their 5 Year missions with so much to do. Because if there were no distractions, people on the ship would lose their minds.
Which makes me thing of something else...On the show, you only see the Command staff, security and science personnel beam down to the various planets, but you NEVER hear or see of other passengers (read as family, etc) beaming anywhere. I wonder how many of them had to visit the Doc about cabin fever.
Anyway, I am doing some jump and scans for now...if I find a system with anything worth mapping I do, but so far, nothing worth writing home about.

It sounds like you've set yourself quite a task.I recall reading somewhere about a layer of brown dwarfs, much like the neutron stars, and i believe i may have encountered it myself earlier in my career when jump range was lower and the chance of a bad outcome therefore increased significantly. One or two hairy moments on that trip, but we got through it o.k.Now I know why in the Star Trek universe, they sent out a Galaxy class starship (which in the shows/movies ended up 0 - 3...not a good combat rate). i think i found that route too . everytime i jump i got a bit ripped off my hull.seems to happen on the longer route around.alotIt sounds like you've set yourself quite a task.I recall reading somewhere about a layer of brown dwarfs, much like the neutron stars, and i believe i may have encountered it myself earlier in my career when jump range was lower and the chance of a bad outcome therefore increased significantly. One or two hairy moments on that trip, but we got through it o.k.
I'm in no hurry. I'm on my second triple elite in five years. What's the hurry?I had to let mine go because she made too many and ranked me up to mostly harmless .![]()
