Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'd written this week off ages ago :)

It seems to take at least a week to 10 days before things settle from a patch :)
Sadly, I'm feeling this is 100% accurate.

I vaguely remember this being a thing from way back when I used to play.... and now with so many more resources like all the Discord Servers etc ... makes it easier to know when things might have settled down ... But seeing as my next adventures were to be messing about with passenger missions and mats gathering... a bit of an enforced break is on the cards until they get fixed!

It is technically landable but has the red ring round it on system map showing it is permit locked, why it is locked is a secret at the moment.

Earth’s moon is an anomaly it appears to still be airless so should be landable but we cannot land on it and it doesn’t show as being permit locked. Speculation is that it is blocked because of the difficulty of procedurally generating the surface features so that they match the real thing, ie to many people know what it should look like and would complain if it didn’t match.
ooh! Is that inside scoop or coalition of congruence? The red ring is not visible in the system map, but i suppose lost out here it would stand out like a sore thumb, so to remove it would increase the chance it would only be found through serendipty.

Think the last patch mentioned sites were being returned - iirc Davs was one - over time. What that timeframe was, I don't know, but the patch itself brought further issues.

Edit: here we go...

Gasp... surely not... more issues you say... [/raises hand to forehead and faux-faints dramatically]

Gonna make a cuppa and at least outfit my AspX for mats gathering. See if I can coax the Quattro into some passenger missions if those are not borked anymore... I was also going to look at getting EDMC installed but that too might benefit from a bit of a wait!

Hmm went to at least load the update and no option to install... and then just can't connect to servers...? Another Update?

Second Try - Taupe Cobra while trying to get into the game. Sigh. No play time today for me ... maybe that's why my initial install of EDMC also failed to bring up my prompt for credentials

I haven't seen anything about them disappearing, but who knows! A lot of "points of interest" have vanished, so it might be worth checking out a RES to see if they still exist.

Oh, and reference for the ring probe issue here

The whole thread is worth a skim through, all the issues are being collected there. Warning - it is something of a threadnaught. I suspect it might develop it's own sentient life shortly, it's growing so rapidly!
Thanks Tyres, but I just wanted the gel, not to buy a new Flightpack ;) :D

I did try Amazon for the Nyogel, but I get a bewlidering array of lubricants back, none of which are Nyogel 767a. I don't know if any of them are equivalent to the same specification, and although some of them look like the might fit the bill, I'd rather not buy something random without understanding what I'm putting on my throttle.

That sounds a bit rude, doesn't it. It's not meant to, but years of watching "Carry On" films as a child tends to warp your mind :)

'Threadnaught' made me laugh out loud. Then the mirth of a forced reminisce through a youth spent watching Carry On films made me spill my coffee.

Probably a controversial opinion, but I think that the sheer number of Fleet Carriers has made the game look a bit silly, it breaches my immersion by not feeling remotely realistic. Even Colonia is overrun with them (including some daft names). I fear I know the answer to this, but does anyone know whether switching back to Solo from Open would reduce the number of player Fleet Carriers in systems?

Game was very stable for me last night, found some new Void Opal and LTD hotspots, mined in the Cutter, made a lot of cash and on a whim bought and outfitted my first Fer De Lance. Like it, although surprised that the view is both offset and slightly obscured by the canopy, and the jump range is less than I expected, but I like it a lot. Have to do something about my 'Expert' combat rating, so figured that and the Corvette and a Courier would be good additions to my fleet.

Sadly solo is also swamped with carriers. When they are full of Tritium hopefully they will go away.
