Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Well, I couldn't hack mining with the Python. Not enough toys :D

So it's back to the Cutter ("Perspicacia Tick" at the moment but I'm looking for a better name... perhaps "Tyson Fury" but I prefer gel names) and some more engineering tweaks. Whilst she lumbers a bit and isn't as adept at escaping interdictions, she does carry more, is more heat efficient, jumps further and strips 'roids in double-quick time.

Of course, she is limited as to where she can land but I suppose it's about balancing the ups and downs.

How are you owners of fleet carriers finding them?

Edit - lawks a' lordy, Col 285 sectoe CC-K A38-2 looks like a car park for carriers...

How about
Ship Name: Darling Clementine
Ship-ID: 49-ER

In a word -- awesome. In two words -- awesome sauce! :p

I finished my Tritium fuel runs, and stored enough in my carrier to take me to the Colonia area and back. Then I went over to Jameson to get all my stuff. I went through all my stored modules and got rid of the useless stuff, then bought some standard stuff like cargo racks and whatnot to have with me for switch-ups in the field.

During this process, I realized what I was doing. I was cleaning house before moving out. I was moving to a new home.

I've considered Jameson Memorial my home base for quite a while, but it's never really been 'my' home. But now I have an actual home. I own it. It has my name on it. It goes wherever I want. And all my stuff goes with it.

I'm surprised at how empowering it actually feels. I wasn't expecting that. I've become a space nomad, taking my home with me wherever I go. And it's fun.

I decided to refit my Krait for mining, with all the tools for core, subsurface, and laser mining. I hit the new LTD3 spot and wow...subsurface mining has been buffed and it's really worth doing now. And it's fun. I found an asteroid with a couple of sub-surface deposits, and I wound up getting about 28 tons of LTDs from that one rock. I also found a core asteroid with surface deposits, and 21% laser-able stuff too. So I stripped it, blasted it, and then exploded it. It was fun, and I flew away with 40 tons of diamonds.

And it's a party out there!

I've never seen such camaraderie and joy in the ED community as I'm seeing in the various emergent hotspots right now. The Tritium traders are having a heyday. Everyone's working together and having a blast. The same with the LTD miners. Chat is lively and full of jokes and good humor, and people are helping each other by giving rides, or donating fuel, or explaining mining. Some carriers even brought extra mining modules to sell on-site, and limpets and such were available too.

And...this is the kicker...everyone is in Solo mode. Carriers make it possible to collaborate with other players, while not having to engage in the Open PVP environment. Very interesting to see how nice people can be in a safe environment.

I have many plans now, not just my exploration trip. I'm going to do that, for sure, but I have other ideas as well. I'm starting to see the possibilities.

So yeah. There are issues, and the system map looks like crap, but gee. I'm having way more fun than I expected.

I hate to ask, (🎼🎸"but are Friends electric?"🎤🎼🎹)... to get your carrier as you want it, with all the bits and bobs you have... um... how much did it set you back? If you don't mind me asking that is. Did you sell off any superfluous ships?

I spent about 6 billion, and then put a billion into the carrier account to cover upkeep for...a long time.

I had saved up 8 billion for this endeavor, so it worked out well enough.

On another note, I've always wanted to fly my Anaconda out to Hutton Orbital and get some photos. Well...today I did! :p

I went to Hutton two weeks ago just to be able to say I did it before carriers arrived.
