I headed over to the other side of the bubble so I could finally trade with the Empire and related factions for a change, and I was pleasantly surprised to see an Imperial Eagle for sale. I completely forgot that it was brought up here. It flies really nice though. I just need to strip it down a little more because the power's about 30+ in the red after suping it up. Though, taking a quick look at the wiki, I realise I can get rid of really basic modules like the docking computer or supercruise assist. It's an inconvience due to me being lazy but I'd rather do that than downgrade the ship as a stealthy little fighter.
I instantly made Chelomey Orbital my home after finding it in Cubeo's system map. Which is cool for two reasons, 1) There's a shipyard outside which is a great little place to test the manoeuvrability of your ship, and 2) For some reason there's always a massive battle going on next to said shipyard so that's fun also.
This is your scanner battery being melted upon approach.

That's something to look foreward to - oh!The iEagle can also be the fastest ship when suitably fitted ouy. Mine boosts to 932 but is useless for anything else. Although, perhaps, it mighr be a giggle in canyon running but I've never tried that.
The Mighty has been bested, iirc. There was a post not too long ago.(11.4G?).Still,you're right,it is a dangerous game.Currently playing a very dangerous game. I’m heading back to Colonia, I’m about 3000ly out. As I’m finding landable high gravity planets, I’m testing my landing skills. Highest so far has been 3.4g.
I am aware of that 9g planet. I have some wreckage on there somewhere.
This guy has the most innovative High-G landing technique I've seen. I have yet to try it myself, but it's on my list.

Yes, his technique looks easy to use, and incredibly safe. It also makes a lot of sense using the main thrusters like that. Just point your nose vertical after ending the glide early, wait for the ship to stabilize at zero speed, then go backwards down to the planet by using reverse throttle just a tad. Don't change from vertical orientation until you're at the surface. That was a different approach (no pun intended)!
