Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

One day when we get atmospheric planet landings you can take one of the large ships out there an land it permanently. Can you do that with multi-crew? Have a friend fly it and land it and then get in your ship to fly back? Dunno how that works.

And we'll get space legs when that update arrives.

Whilst I like project like DW2, I think there is something special about going far out on your very own, where you just rely on yourself. It is still nothing like the real thing would be, because we can still communicate with others - real solitude is harder to endure. But I guess it will nevertheless be an experience to venture out into it - where everything is kind of the same and totally new at the same time. The idea that this is pretty much everywhere in space like this - a vast amount of system, which are all look alikes and still none is like this other. Ongoing for billions of light years. Patches of matter in an even more vast void. I guess there will be a time when one will be thinking "what the heck am I doing here out there" and be at the same time amazed about what can be found. The vastness of being alike and totally unique at the same time.

Still so many CZs near planets. Had to fly through one just to land at The Dweller's base. Thankfully, nothing untoward happened.

Lots of war everywhere so two questions if I may:

1) How long before some stabilisation starts to kick in?
2) Why am I not running into a fight in a CZ? (I've never actively sought these out so don't know what to expect in them).

Cheers.

1) I think someone said 30/02/3305.

2) You have to pick a side each time you drop into a CZ until you choose one you are neutral and nobody will deliberately shoot you however if you violate your neutrality and shoot at anybody everybody in the CZ will become hostile and try to shoot you. CZs can be a great place to scan ships and acquire combat debris materials just try not to get in the way of all that shooting. Never seen it before but presumably because CZs are forming in less out of the way places I have seen warnings as I was on approach to a station still in cruise the CZ was only 5km outside the no fire zone.

If you do pick a side to join in expect the ships to be tougher and more dangerous than those of the same type and rank found in a RES these are not mere pirates, when the numbers on each side become unbalanced in the enemies favour expect more and more of them to attack you at the same time, when the enemy gets down to the last ship start preparing yourself for the next wave of them to arrive, CZs are lawless zones so no pirates or bounties no need to scan for wanted status but if you get chased out/chase someone out of the zone in normal space stop shooting when the exit warning appears or you could be on assault charges.

CZs can be quite near to shipping lanes and planets. I had an "entering CZ" warning just before the escape from planet procedure completed - no ships around on the scanner though. And another one on approach to a dock, but still before I drop out of supercruise - "entering CZ" and seconds later "leaving CZ" - so that I estimate those zones to be spherical. I basically touched it tangential during the approach. Again no ships on ship scanner. I wonder if this is normal, that I do not detect any ships then.

Edit: Ah well, I can answer this myself I guess - they are in normal space, I cannot detect them in supercruise.

'Tijuana Taxi' undergoing space trials at the Eskimo Nebula. Currently hitting 82Ly. Looks like a Conda, it's actually a chair strapped to an FSD.

Next stop NGC 1333 Nebula, 903Ly, 12 jumps.

82 lys. Droolworthy.

Yes, the FSD booster is something I really want. I've been putting it off in the pursuit of hard cash but, new year, new goals perhaps...

Never been a big fan of the Conda.
But this is a keeper.
I'm still gonna try a stripped DBX build, once I get my mats back up.
I think the overall cost of the 'Tijuana Taxi' was 220mill, all 15% discount.

No FSD booster yet?

I'm surprised!
I got that right after I unlocked Farseer on my alt account.

Well, I'm not really interested in all the Thargoid and Guardian stuff in general, so I can't be bothered touring some ruins.
I've got a couple of 55+LY ships and I don't really need more.
It's just that one system, once in a while that remains unreachable and I'm telling to myself "If only I had those couple of LYs more. Maybe I should get the booster after all"
But I never do. :D

I get that...but I do have to add that, for me anyway, I actually enjoyed the Guardian ruins visit to get the FSD booster (on my Xbox account). It's the only alien tech I'm interested in, and so I only had to do it once. I followed CMDR Exigeous' guide for it.

It's always there should you change your mind someday :)

Hmm.

So a couple of things I'm currently pondering.

Struggling to find a good use for my Clipper. A large ship that carries less cargo than the medium Python. I find that a little odd, so I've put Tiffany Aching to bed for a while until such time as the light bulb comes on.

The other thing that's making my brain ache is pinning blueprints. Three times now, I've pinned a print, gone back home, done some engineering and all is good with the world. When I log on again later, the print has gone AWOL. Whaaa... I reported it as a bug but now I'm thinking I'm missing the bleeding obvious or my mind has finally gone bye-bye. Probably both.

Ah well.

I have to say, I enjoyed unlocking the modules.
Im not even a fan of the SRV. Had a quick look at the guide, but never used the map. Then once I'd fathomed how it all worked, went and visited a few other Guardian sites to figure out the easiest one. (Landing, quickest route etc).
Not so keen on the SLF sites, but if you like driving I guess they're not so bad.

Oh yeah, I know how to do it, theoretically. :)
It's just that
a) I don't enjoy being shot at in an SRV - I drive it to relax and explore. If I die in an SRV, at best it's because I fell down into something I wasn't supposed to fall into. :D
b) I don't like being stressed in an SRV - I hate time limits in games. The only thing that I hate more than time limits are QTEs.
c) There is a high chance of meeting people at the Guardian sites - I don't like that. The feel of a lukewarm flesh makes my skin crawl
d) I'm always either too far away of have more important things to do.

:D :D

Ah well.

It's basically a really wide Orca with one more hardpoint and less convenient optional internals.

The blueprint pinning is a bug.
I had it happen too.
