Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Honestly. It could make you cry.

1) I stepped away from the comms terminal and the missions rotated, taking this one away
2) I have never done one of these before but was willing to try it out

The 'falling FC' is a known bug right? I am trying to unload a bunch of goods to me FC but it keeps moving away at a rate my T9 cant catch.

Is there a best solution to this?
Move the carrier.

Sometimes they are so close to the orbiting body that you stay in the sphere of influence of the body, rather than correctly switching to the SOI of the carrier when you approach. Thus, the carrier moves with respect to you, because you are tied to the body.

On an outpost, why are there only two lifts up to the concourse but four down? It's the same for both one's own hangar as well Apex shuttles.

On another note, I got killed again. Cut my way into a dorm and there was someone in there: "This thing has been tampered with!" Bang bang. In come the commadoes and it's night-night Tyres.

It's just not my day!

Yes, you have to be sure before cutting that no one walks by there, ever. If they see it cut open they will investigate. If they see you nearby, they know it was you and attack.

The one that caught me out before was when I hacked a terminal with an eBreach. No one saw me hack it, so I thought I was in the clear. Turns out, however, that if someone see you using a previously hacked terminal, they attack. :)

These missions are much more involved than any we get in Horizons. They never play out the same way twice, and there are a lot of things to consider (and multiple approaches).

My general procedure is to first case the entire base (if I'm not familiar with the layout, especially). See who's patrolling where. Find someone with level 2 or 3 clearance I can scan (but don't scan them yet). Figure out where the alarms console is. A terminal will show you, but only if you already have clearance (or an eBreach). So you gotta finesse it sometimes. Once I know where the alarms console is, I figure out a way to get in there and turn 'em off. This can be as easy as walking in after an NPC opens the door, finding someone inside with clearance to scan, then sneaking (or just running) in and turning them off. Might have to kill someone inside. Once alarms are off, the mission is considered 'covert' no matter what else you do.

There is quite a learning curve, though. Don't underestimate it, and take your time. Failure is guaranteed at first, there's a lot to think about.

I think that these missions are brilliantly designed, a cut above anything we've had up until now.

I agree, They do keep you on your toes! just tried to clone a researcher who was level two but he turned toward me just as the clone was finishing. A scout then saw me. It was run away time but at least I'd got the personal document already.

This all needs work on my part and stealth is not my strong point.

Whats a SOI?

I thought I got an excellent parking spot 1000km away from the station to load CG goods and get punked by FDev again......

Well, that was amusing. I ran into an odd bug.

I was doing a heist mission, and I had to get into the security area to turn off the alarms. All was going well. I cloned a level 3 ID through a window, and got into the SEC building. The alarms console was inside the restricted area as usual. I waited by the doorway, keeping it open so I could watch the guard inside. I knew he'd come over to me when he saw me there, and I planned to shoot him and then disable the alarms.

But, as he approached and I got the "Targeted for Security Scan" warning, I dumped my cloned ID so he wouldn't aggro immediately. When I did that, the door closed of course. Problem was, it refused to open again for the guard who was now trapped inside. I don't know why. He had level 3 clearance, it should have opened.

He continued to try to approach me to scan, but the door was in the way. I tried standing close to the door, taking a step back, etc. He just could not reach me, but he kept trying. After a while I decided to move away and see if it would reset. It did not. Instead, he raised the alarms because I was "evading a scan". The whole base lit up, and I had to high-tail it out of there with laser fire and skimmers after me the whole way.

I left my ship 500m outside the base, so it was safe until I got into it and started to fly. Then the base started shooting me. I put good engineered shields on my Viper MKIV, though, so I got away with 50% remaining.

I exited to desktop to reset the mission, and was successful the second time, lol.
