Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Rescuing folks from attacked and burning stations has really piqued my interest nowadays. I've watched a few videos and wow! The carnage, the disaster, those poor citizens trapped in side a burning station. Yeah, there are credits to be made but I believe it's a better feeling to help out and save folks than just boosting your bank account. So, I have a rescue ship on the drawing board next in line after I get this AspX finished.

Yes I know, I play this game differently than a lot of folks.

I outfitted my Python very much like D2EA does in this great video on station rescue (though for slightly less honorable reasons LOL). I've been doing this at a burning Empire station to rank up for a Cutter and it works very well.

The Python works well because it's big enough to accommodate a lot of bulk passengers, and it's tough (I use a shield) enough to withstand the odd explosions and debris, and small enough for shooting the slot, both in and out, because you want to move pretty quickly before you run out of heat sinks. I DO use my docking computer to speed things up with the rescue ship drop-off, but that's optional. To me it's worth it because you are going back and forth SO much doing this. The DC is of no help inside the station though, obviously.

One benefit of doing this is it sharpens your manual landing skills in the station because you need to land QUICKLY. So I've been learning skid-landings and it's been working great. Another benefit is that it also helps build your confidence piloting in and out of entrance at speed and under some duress.

I was very happy to find that video because I really did not want to haul slaves to rank up...saving people is much better and a more honorable rank grind for me :)

...or twenty minutes if you take anything but Mamba, there. :D :D

True, the Mamba is horrible. No jump range, no cargo space, and really difficult to land on anything else than a large station using a docking computer...

I found the Mainani/Ngalinn data runs were great for Empire rank. I was there for quick credits but ended up ranking to Lord. First time it took about an hour to rep up for the stacked missions but after that I could max out the 20 data runs each time. Went home after about 3 hours with a butt load of credits and one rank less than Lord. Second time I went I was just there for an hour and I achieved Lord rank. Wasn't even trying for rank but now I'm one short of a Clipper. Not a ship I want but it's there should my mind change sometime in the future.

I think the last time I went rescuing it was in my T10, half cabins and half cargo and collector limpets with almost all utility slots loaded with heat sinks.

I have another T6 in mind to get started doing rescues. I do like that ship. Then as much as I don't like large ships I have a T7 on the drawing board to be a dedicated rescue ship.

The fuel scoop is just to make sure I can get where I need to be and I can swap that out at the big rescue ship for another passenger cabin if needed. They do have some limited outfitting.

She looks and handles like a dream, though. I love mine. I wouldn't take her out on an exploration trip but running errands and killing pirates never was so classy. Mine is called Asteroid Magnet.

:D

"We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard!"

I'm seriously still planning on taking the Mamba to Sag A*. Currently I'm at a max jump range of 35ly, but I have all the goodies for Elvira to get to 39ly. I just need to get on better terms with her. She's playing hard to get.

Speaking of Mamba in combat: Can I just go to any anarchy system and shoot at anything that moves without getting penalized? (In SP ofcurz)

Hey, somebody made it with a Corvette. Go. Follow your dream. :D :D

As for your question - yes. Anarchy is a lawless government type. No bounties. But you're a fair game as well, of course.

Well I'm still just floating around Colonia area, doing a bit of mining. I can spend an hour or so and come back with something worthwhile, and there's no time pressure or anything like that. I'm sick of missions, so this works out.

Today I decided to leave the fuel scoop at the station and take my fighter along instead, to help drive off any pesky pirates. It made for a relaxing time. I guess the pirates knew because they never even came around :)

Finished the poop delivery contract at Ceos (System in lockdown now).
Swapped out the cargo racks and fitted out with economy cabins.
Jumped over to a damaged station, Rescue time!
Great stuff, slam that landing gear down!

But... no missions for 'collect the floaty junk'. I shall jump in the DBX first response scout, and investigate further.:S

Tonight, I am mostly watching my DBX explode in AX CZ.
But it's fun.:D

Too much caustic gunk.
Imma buy a FAS.
Or maybe FDS.
Too many choices!

Get something with space for a Decontamination Limpet controller and a few limpets as well of course, they make a lovely job of stopping the hull being dissolved and might even fix it a bit too as long as nobody shoots near them while they are working.
