Rescuing folks from attacked and burning stations has really piqued my interest nowadays. I've watched a few videos and wow! The carnage, the disaster, those poor citizens trapped in side a burning station. Yeah, there are credits to be made but I believe it's a better feeling to help out and save folks than just boosting your bank account. So, I have a rescue ship on the drawing board next in line after I get this AspX finished.
Yes I know, I play this game differently than a lot of folks.
I outfitted my Python very much like D2EA does in this great video on station rescue (though for slightly less honorable reasons LOL). I've been doing this at a burning Empire station to rank up for a Cutter and it works very well.

The Python works well because it's big enough to accommodate a lot of bulk passengers, and it's tough (I use a shield) enough to withstand the odd explosions and debris, and small enough for shooting the slot, both in and out, because you want to move pretty quickly before you run out of heat sinks. I DO use my docking computer to speed things up with the rescue ship drop-off, but that's optional. To me it's worth it because you are going back and forth SO much doing this. The DC is of no help inside the station though, obviously.
One benefit of doing this is it sharpens your manual landing skills in the station because you need to land QUICKLY. So I've been learning skid-landings and it's been working great. Another benefit is that it also helps build your confidence piloting in and out of entrance at speed and under some duress.
I was very happy to find that video because I really did not want to haul slaves to rank up...saving people is much better and a more honorable rank grind for me
