Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

No she gets her credits percentage as long as you don’t fire her, or fail to rebuy her if you lose your ship while she is active.
She gets half the combat experience earned as long as she is active, I do hope you aren’t trying to gain combat rank yourself as while you fly with her it will take twice as long.
Oh, may be a bad timing to hire her?? I'm currently 53% deadly. So unless I'm fighting elite npc (which I'm doing just for her), there's not much xp to share with her??

I'm not in hurry to get combat elite rank though.

Made it to Crab Nebula, Station X! And Pioneer! I did kinda skip the last 15 planets on my list though, in the name of getting the final leg done! I was up to 80 million in planetary data (according to 'the list'), and I figured I'd made at least 20 million in sundry scanning, mapping and bio-data, but more on that later!

I'll drop the rest behind a spoiler cut, 'cause there's a few!

Uh, I think I remember this episode of Dr Who:

Back in space, I stopped for some dinner and to watch the first two episodes of Picard Season 2. Enjoying it so far!

I also, after @Simon Templar 's PC performance queries, looked into what I should be able to run Odessey at - and promtly whacked it up to Ultra!

Who is that handsome devil?

Much closer now!

On the pad. Looking a bit rough now - paint down to 48%:

EDIT:

Oh yeah, those ultra settings - seems to be playing just fine, though I haven't set down on a planet yet. I don't anticipate there will be any problems though. Update once I know.

Conflict Zones and Settlement Missions though - that's where people report most of the issues, and way out here in the sticks I haven't tried those yet - could be a while though!

So that came in at roughly 154 million - about half again what I'd hoped for!

About 8 million came from Bio-Scans and Codex claims, 80 million was from planetary scans of worlds above the value threshold I dropped into the 'Road to Riches' calc on Spansh, which means 66 million came from system honking, and all the planets I scanned and mapped on a whim. Pretty good going, I think, and well into Pioneer now. I recon another similar cash-in will get me to Elite.

I think I'll dispense with another Road to Riches list though, it felt rather tyranical at times when I just wanted to be moving forward. And it's 11000 Light Years to my bext destination - Rho Cassiopeiae.

I've decided I'm going to visit nearby Monkey Head and Rosette Nebula's, maybe Seagull, too, then loop back to Jellyfish Nebula and Beta Site Station, then head out to Rho Cass, via the Heart and Soul Nebula's, see if there are any others on the way.

Once I've hit Rho Cass, I can turn back and burn straight to the bubble - Procyon specifically, to rank up Sirius Corp when I cash-in my data, both to hit Elite so I can really get to looking for Raxxla, and to unlock Marco Gwent.

But for now, I think, I'll just noodle around the Crab Nebula for a Bit :D
Looking great, thanks for posting. And love me an asteroid station!!

OK question for you guys.

I have an L-6 which I just made to G5.

Faster reload [tested it, doesnt seem any faster :( ], stowed reloading, larger magazine as mods.

What could possibly be useful for a rocket launcher as the last mod?

Audio masking?!? Anyone tried it? Does it break logic and actually work? Hilarious if it can.

I would suspect @Codger is the main man for this!

I keep changing my avatar. Trying to find one that suits the name... can't get a decent image of the Tyres I stole the ID from :D

I have a rocket launcher. I've used it once. Killed myself. So my experience level with that weapon is small. However, I have seen multiple posts about Audio Masking on it.

Apparently, it does silence the shot itself, but not the resulting explosion. So...not very useful. :)

Maybe long range so you have plenty of time to deal with the enemy as they charge towards you.

Possibly good for a diversion if the explosion is a long way from where you are.

I had a couple of those Tip Off messages telling me to go find something at a certain coordinate on a planet, investigated one, the lumpiest planet I ever saw, got as close as I could to land, got into the Scarab to get right on top of it, got out to look around, was it there, was it no. Damn you, mysterious stranger

*Edited as the profanity filter couldn't let me use a word that means male gonads

The coordinates given are for horizon (if you're on oddy they won't be valid) look for either a base or planetary wp with the blue mission marker that'll be the mission target.

Wasn't me officer! That guy must have blown himself up!

I doubt the damage/explosion has a range fall off and the current range is already longer than you can accurately aim the rocket. Dont think this one makes sense.

I am thinking about faster handling, so I can swap to the shotgun faster.

I know what you mean! I thought teeth would get shorter as dentistry over the years would reeduce their size :D

It's actually a reference to horses teeth which continue to grow throughout their lives.

I think that's on the right course, but off a bit too. I don't think the teeth get longer, but the gums recede, which has the same visual effect. But yes, it is an old-timey colloquialism in reference to a horse's age. Or is is an aphorism? Or maybe the teeth do get longer.

I'm up to 83% Deadly. Bringing up the rear, but finish line in sight. Been spending my time running sightseeing and criminal transport in the frosty Dolphin I just built. This is really slow for combat rank as it turns out.

Well I seem to remember seeing vets dealing with horses teeth with a very big file so I think they keep growing in domesticated horses, wild ones will do more grazing keeping them worn down.

Yes the Dolphin isn't the ideal ship for combat rank building, though extremely cold running does give you an edge as you are harder to keep locked.

Well it doesn't have weapons, so that is probably a root cause.

I don't know much about horses if I'm honest. Less about their teeth. My idle speculation was reckless and I withdraw my comment :)
