Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

One of the goals I set myself has been accomplished:

Now then, what now?
Well done :) ...all this Exo recently has pushed my balance over 10B at last - that's the most cash i've ever had iirc... generally tend to earn it / spend it ^^

  • Get your Fleet Carrier‘s balance up to the same amount.
  • Reach Elite V in all six categories.
  • Visit a Maelstrom and survive.
  • Circumnavigate a planet in your SRV.
  • Get all 69 badges from Elite Dangerous Star Map
  • OK 68 of them seeing as one is for donations
  • Build yet another suit & weapons combo to G5
  • Fly your FC to Beagle Point and back with only a Sidewinder to support it.
I am working to 5 elites, but mercenary is... slow :D I don't even know what CQC is about.

Beagle Point. That actually might be A Thing for me at some point. Although I might do it in a Beluga with no shields or armour and a 1E fuel scoop. I've been threatening to fly one down the throat of a star due to traumatisation by Beluga's from my formative years.

Got to Colonia, had a little look around but got bored with it pretty quickly! Not much in the way of on-foot CZs in stations that were near to the CZ - all lows and mediums when I only do highs these days. Also I'll wait till I get to the bubble before I buy an Anaconda.

I've now set a course for one of my bookmarks not far from the Bubble, then will head for Deciat. Decided not to follow the Bridge route direct to the bubble as I want to find as many unexplored systems as possible. (I know Tritium is in quite good quantity at a couple of those stations, but want to see how what I have with me lasts out.)

Colonia has some good stuff in and near that mini bubble. It's worth running at least a few passenger missions from Diggidiggi to see Babit 001 to 004. The World of Death 500ly away is one of the best sights to see in the whole game. There are quite a few POIs recorded in edsm.net within 5,000ly of Colonia to see too. Pirate massacre mission from Tir targeting Brian's Thugs in Ratraii good for some pew pew. I don't do much on foot stuff outside of Exobiology so can't comment on that content.

Makes one wonder what folkes do on a Friday / Saturday night out there? For once i'll be unpacking the telescope and lying on a blanket staring at the stars, rather than dropping in at a bar / warehouse party... almost 3500LY from Sol atm :]

I am about the same distance out but in the opposite direction, just heading out with my carrier to do some exploration and bio hunting in a new sector.
Currently the technique is to survey the system I am in then jump 450-500Ly towards my target and repeat, last thing is to plot a jump to happen while I am offline, this wipull become more exploration intensive once I reach a new sector.
Just one new Astro discovery so far and no highly valuable bios.

I am also trying out a variation on the mini explorer idea, my sidewinder would have required a visit to an equipped outfitting as it is entirely stock so I am trying out a Hauler instead as I had one that was fitted with decent modules available. So far it seems OK though all the chirps whistles and other noises when not in cruise are a little obtrusive at the moment, previously all my experience in a Hauler was cruising and jumps back in the day when we would use them as a disposable taxi.

Yeah, some ship sounds need getting used to, like when I first flew the Vulture after being in the Python for several days. The Vulture felt so obnoxiously loud. Later I noticed that quite a few of the smaller fighter style crafts would be quite noisy, compared to the Python.

I've done some more mat collecting, adding in some rock crawling* and some canyoning** to spice things up a little.

While collecting those materials, I noticed that apparently, there has been a minor fix to the SRV scanner. Before, those fields of fumaroles would cause a lot of "white noise" in the scanner that wouldn't go away if you collected materials. Which made it quite difficult to determine if there was something left or not, resulting in quite a bit of fuel and time spent driving around idly. Now, each collected spot of material would make a more or less prominent hole into the wall of signals in the scanner, making it way easier to determine if there's anything left and where it will be.

*: Driving up and down slopes, finding ways to get around without using the thrusters unless you manage to get stuck.
**: Flying through a canyon quickly.

A new shotgun. Deciding on mods...
Oops head wrapped around mining atm - just remembered the difference between the Tormentor (aka "pocket Executioner") and Intimidator... aka "Shotgun" :p

I have been putting one of those together back in the bubble - be interested to see what you recommend?

Just kept keeping on exploring the last while, making my way bit by bit to towards the Heart & Soul Nebulae - lots of things to discover and the bonuses are getting better as I go... :]

Frutexa Flammasis are pretty valuable at 15,387,600 basic, but possibly top the list of the hardest bios to find. Basically, you have to be quite lucky either in the SRV or skimming very low in the ship, because they don't show up until you're quite close to them, even with night vision on. There are some in this crater, along with Cactoida that I already found and here I'm trying to find the third sample to complete the set...

EDIT: Found it, but the 15,387,600 shown in the Wiki might be wrong, as EDDiscovery says 10,326,000. Still not bad though
