Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I don't know when I'll be able to play again, between the levees near Sacramento and an ancient lake reforming in the South San Joaquine valley, were extremely busy. I'm supposed to be retired, with floods and my experience with forest fires, it doesn't seem to be happening. There seems to be a shortage of pilot car drivers, I need one with a hi-pole. You guys have fun, I wish I could be playing. (y)

Hmmm... the itty-bitty legality stuff never ceases to amaze me in this game, even after 5yrs - returned to my carrier to dust off my corvette for some possible CZ work later and found this note on the windscreen...

...i thought i'd sorted out all my legal issues before heading off exploring recently ;p

I like the color of you're paint job, looks cool on that vette.

Oh i thought this was Open since you mentioned the fleet carriers - are they NPC's? ...do you play in PG then?
I think I misunderstood and assumed you knew fleet carriers are always player owned. I sometimes forget this long thread is in the new comers section!
If you are fairly new to the game you might like to know war conflict zones are a good source of polymer capacitors - a grade 4 engineering material from destroyed enemy system authority ships useful for a number of ship improvements. You won't get fines or bounties for destroying them in conflict zones.

Eek. Not sure what a pilot car or hi pole are but given what you said earlier in your post, it all sounds quite dangerous.

Good luck, stay safe and we'll no doubt all be here still when you get back.

Thanks I will, I'm an old hand at this stuff driving my big 18 in heavy snow and mud, my wife decided to take a few days off for the cause, she'll take the pilot car (pickup). A hi-pole bolts to the front of the pilot vehicle, it's approximately 13' tall and is for low overpasses and phone wires, stop lights ect. I can't sleep anymore and we leave at dawn, not allowed to haul oversized loads after dark as per the permit from California DMV. :)

Oh, I forgot to mention a pilot car runs out in front of my truck with yellow flashing lights and a yellow sign with black letters that says "Oversized Load", My current load is 11.5 feet wide and 14' 8" tall and 98,000 pounds (just shy of 50 tons, 145,000 gross with truck and trailer). Most over passes are 14 to 15 feet high, the permit comes with a map that shows my designated safe route (iPad mounted on my dash). I guess that was too much information, sorry.

Maybe I should install that Euro Truck sim in my Steam library to see if it lets me do stuff like that, sounds "fun".

Had quite a bit of fun last night dusting off the old corvette and playing some CZ in the name of the Union of Jath for Equality (they are the Yemairwar system's independent Democrats, so your conscience can be clear as you help them fend off the local Evil Corporation^)

...as a starting bonus i recommend scanning the system's water world and terraformable HMC for a nice bit of ez cash :]
