Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I skipped that engineer because of that requirement (and because I didn't need any of the mods they offered - I guess I miss out on "headshot damage", not something I find important in this game).

Aha, so there is some point to this (besides gameplay completion) after all - tbh i’d thought i had all the mods unlocked already, but yep - headshot damage does require Uma Laszlo, at least in the bubble.

I've always thought it was a weird requirement.

I worked hard to be allied with Sirius back in the day, so I'm leaving it alone :)

It’s an opportunity for a bit of Entropy, i guess - so much of this game involves patiently, painstakingly building things up, bit by bit…

…sometimes it’s fun to knock over that sandcastle one just built? ;)

Ah, like the non-magic Bag of Holding into which all my materials go! I understand now!
1 imperial slave in a canister weighs 1 ton. 1 ton of gold requires the same size canister as the imperial slave. Space magic at work.
Don't get me started on what happens when your ship is destroyed. The rescue rangers are strong in space magic.
Yesterday I was able to drive an SRV on a 11.23g planet because SRVs have ani-gravity space magic.
Drinks at the bars in ports...

Fun fact - in the 1984 Elite game you traded gold in kilograms and gems in grams. Space magic was not as common in 1984.

I would like to claim that was because standardised shipping containers were very new in 1984, but they weren’t that new.

I do agree that it is a great shame that there is so much wasted space inside most of the containers we ship, still setting the size so it holds just 1 tonne of the least dense item shipped and limiting the mass to 1 tonne per container for everything else does simplify the handling infrastructure.

I just watched the rather long Starfield reveal thingy.

There's this one spot, where the player walks onto his ship, and the crew actually notice him and greet him and give him status updates and salute him and treat him with respect/friendliness.

I wish my carrier crew in EDO did anything remotely like that. Being treated like a rando on my own ship still bugs me, after all this time.

Ah well.

It does appear that Starfield will release before I die, though. That's a plus. :)

But is that a single cutscene or actually in-game, every time you board the ship? (I haven't seen the video)

It appears to be in-game, and would adjust to everything (like what your ship is like, what crew you hired, who your companions are, where you've landed, etc. etc.).

I don't know if it's all smoke and mirrors yet, but I have high hopes. I've loved all the big Bethesda games, warts and all. I really hope this is a new one to love (and mod the crap out of, eventually).

Absolutely. I don't need sycophants on my carrier sucking up to me, but being treated like I actually command this thing would be nice. How about "Welcome back, commander." from the traffic controller? Nope, the same nagging about speed and how we welcome careful pilots that every other commander gets on approach.

Starfield looks interesting (Obsidian Ant video).

Today was pretty good so far........ lots of Anaconda's, Dropships, Gunships, Python's and FDL's winged up with those pesky Vultures.

I hate refitting a ship for mining.

Module storage limit exceeded.

Forget refinery.

Forget prospector.

Crash into stars 3 times because no space for supercruise assist.

Oh yeah.... and forget to buy limpets - dumb ass 😜

All because I want to mine for a bit with the pretty view in the Colonia region.

Ground conflict zones - to date I have won 2 high intensity (how?) and 10 low intensity. I still see no invite from Ferrari tgefenginerr that wants you to win 10 ground conflict zones. I did log out after the 11th.
Confused...
Doesn't sound right to me... I'd try one more, log, then see. If that's no good, I'd guess a quick note to Support

EDIT Gosh. According to my Codex, I have 234 high intensity wins so tat means I've really won 174 high on-foot CZ's. Really is "what am I up to?" :geek:

So stability on the Executioner is all right, I guess. Recoil is only an animation, so as long as you can keep your pointer centred on the target there's no actual benefit. I don't think I'd like the scope much better anyway, as up to 100m, the default scope is fine too.

I joined a CZ to test the mod. It was totally dark, which has made my desicion on my final Dominator mod - night vision (which is super useful on the Maverick too).

The Intimidator is hilarious. I picked up a vanilla G2 at a Pioneer supplies and put a scope on it at Geiger. It acts like a choke, extending its useful range quite some way. I'm thinking:
  • Scope
  • Magazine size
  • Greater range
  • Reload speed or stowed reloading
