Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

20kly for fastest, but you can using a trick extend that to across the entire galaxy. I have plotted routes over 60kly to test it out.
Really? Please elaborate if you don't mind. I'm always looking for tricks like that.

Back in my tiny realm, a glamour shot.

I have been to the Taranis debris field a couple of times.
Now i also have enough materials for caustic resistant cargo racks, so i'll soon take another dive.
Achilles Aerospace wants Titan Drive Components, which i have found before the CG, but i have already sold them.
I might bring a mining laser, it seems you can blast off materials off the wreckage.

That's it. I'm not bothering with this Thargoid Taranis stuff recovery anymore.

I got into the area and started looking around, caustic sinks doing an admiral job.

What I didn't bargain on was a frameshift anomaly and the appearance of four Thargoid ships. Of course, as I didn't know this was a possibility, I had no way of defending myself and, before I knew it, my canopy was blown and I couldn't plot a course out of the system.

I listened to the depressing sound of me running out of O2 and then the inevitable "Eject. Eject. Eject" from my stricken COVAS.

Cost me 11mCR into the bargain.

I knew the whole Thargoid stuff wasn't my cuppa but it seems I'm slow to learn - and this just hammered home the point with no sympathy whatsoever.

I'm off to do another gun instead 🙃 Maybe not though :D

Same with me it wasn't 11 M Cr. but Iwas curious but I didn't new that the cloud eats my ship......😯

I tried to give you a heads up, chief...

I read the CG blurb earlier though - you'll need caustic sinks, corrosion resistant cargo holds and to avoid remaining Thargoids to collect the necessary CG loot.

Unlrelated note:

Just had something weird happen - scanned a planet Signals: 8 Human, 1 Other.

Never seen 'other' before.

Any idea's:

A: What Signal: Other is?

I've seen this signal quite frequently, always on planets with engineer bases and quite close to these bases.

Hmmm, I've just had a very similar experience at Khun, home of Elvira Martuuk, an 'Other' signal that can't be pinned down/locked on to.

Shame, I'd hoped i'd found a clue on the road to Raxxla!

In other news I'm scuttling the 500ly back to the bubble from this 2.7g planet I landed pancaked on - I'm not staying out here with 36% hull!

Holy Floating Spaceballs Batman!

Sadly, the high G means I can't get out and sample the phenomenomenomena.

Only recently i started doing the Thargoid stuff.
Since the caustic sinks and other stuff was available at the rescue ships i was able to fit out my Krait decent enough to survive.
Especially around the Taranis debris (and other Titans) you want to stay as cool as possible, so the Thargoids don't find you. Preferably at or under 20%.

I am tempted to say welcome to Elite but I won’t.

If it was four landing on almost on top of you then they were probably only scouts which ordinary weapons can deal with and are pretty slow so boosting should get you away.

There is an annoying bug mentioned elseforum that can apparently let you navigate without a canopy.

Could have been worse though at least it wasn’t several billions worth of cutter, I am hoping that my luck continues in my next dive in to the smog but me and my tactician, Brave Sir Robin, are only risking about 4 million.

Hopefully this time my caustic sinks will last longer now they aren’t on the same trigger.

Funny thing was, I'd gone there twice before and no 'Goids were present.

Next time I'll send in my AX ready (sort of) Krait II instead of my unarmed and ultra thinly armoured Annie. If there is a next time.

Yeah, I have no idea what the frequency/format for Thargoid interference in the Taranis debris field is (I've never actually been, and don't plan to), just aware it can happen.

I'd rather imagined there would be roving Thargoids of various flavours and frequency for pilots to dodge/engage, rather than them jumping in. 👾👾👾

Good luck CMDR!

Well that went well.:)

Dropped back in to Taranis in a smaller Private Group and things were much calmer, I heard two or three Frameshift Anomaly messages and saw two wings of scouts one of which was a Marauder and 4 or 5 larger Thargoids that I didn't identify but 2 had deployed Swarms none of them seemed to see me.

After using 6 and a bit heatsinks I saw what I was looking for and dragged it in with a collector limpet, 5 jumps later and I am successfully in the top 100% or maybe 75%.

It was actually quite relaxing on the whole and some of the wreckage views are lovely, though suddenly coming into view of a dead/sleeping/lurking Thargoid did sort of shift the mood.

This was in my Orca.

I've never plotted a route that long. Longest would have been across the bubble, from one engineer to another.

One reason surely is that, most of the time, I don't find the peace and quiet to play longer sessions. And if there would be some silence, I would find myself too exhausted and tired to play for long. Last thing you want to do is travel somewhere and fall asleep along the way. Luckily, I woke up before I ran out of fuel, but a few billion lightseconds past my destination...

Long plots aren’t too bad that way, on my recent trip I would just jump into a system on the route honk the system and then when out of scooping range of the star and heading towards the next jump marker I would just shut down the game. The next session I would just open the galaxy map to refresh the route and continue from where I left off.

I have in the past felt myself nodding off at the controls, once years ago I was heading to a station and had just managed to get docking permission the next thing was I was in a circular trench being told I had very little time left to dock. I had nodded off and missed the slot and the toast rack and was in the trench that surrounds the circular bit the slot goes through. Much panic and confusion trying to work out how to get away from wherever I was.
