Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hi :)

What CPU and GPU will you be fitting?
In the new build...
The CPU is a Ryzen 7 7800x3d, and the GPU is a Sapphire Radeon Rx 7700 xt Nitro 12Gb.
I'm using the Sapphire GPU now in my Intel comp (i5 12600 S 1700 Alder lake), but will swap it over once the AMD comp is more or less built.
I've got an Asus Tuf Nvidea 4060Ti GPU OC (new) that will take it's place in the Intel comp. (I had an offer I couldn't refuse with the Nvidea card, it really wasn't a first choice to be honest but the price was so cheap! (my son bought it for me as a surprise present in thanks for building his computer , not that I needed anything for doing it...bless him! )

Edit.. nice ship btw...I've got a Courier that's speedy, but nowhere near as fast! :)
Jack :)

How do you register at the Cornwallis? 8/ Not that my Krait is remotely built for xeno warfare. I just like sticking my nose where it doesn't belong and getting myself into trouble.

I was up there yesterday but got bored and wanted to check something with an engineer for the Cobra. Those stripped down experimentals barely lose any mass though.

Erk. It seems my account with Imgur has gone up the Swanny. It wants to send a verification email - however, I signed up years go with an address that no longer exists (different ISP). And now, to sign up as a new user, it wants a phone number. Nope, not doing that. I'll have to find another storage site.

Anyway, this is Screaming Doctor Berserk.

According to the ship stats, it should boost to 932. But I've just given him a run out and he's only hitting around 880. I need to get under the hood.

I usually just resize screen captures to 1024 and save as highest quality jpeg.

That's one of the paint schemes I've been looking at though. Kind've retro G1 Jazz colours.

There is something wrong with your mail delivery, that CG was a month ago.

But you go to the mission board in that above the missions and passengers buttons is a long button for Community Goals you sign up in there.

Aaah. I hadn't logged in for a couple of months before the 16th. Something may have gone a bit wonky. I'll have to figure out a new way of getting into trouble.

I was gonna delay a Colonia trip with the update coming out next Tuesday but I see they've postponed it for a week.

Hi :)

I'm the same as you in respect of the Thargoid wars, don't really know why......I generally like to do 'my own thing' in the game, and I find that I can do that. If I get bored with exploration I go back to my 'home system' and do some trade missions, or explore systems within the bubble, sometimes something will grab my interest that has been mentioned about the game on the forums, and I'll investigate. I've mentioned this somewhere already I think in this topic, I participated in the Ruby celebration / get together at Lave and I found I quite liked that. No griefers about fortunately to spoil the experience. (I don't usually go into open much).
I might go and search for the voyager probes maybe in the next few weeks. I found one of them (is there 2?) way way back, but I've forgotten how I did it now

I'm building up another AMD based system at the moment, I've got most of the parts, just 32 gigs of DDR 5 6000hz Ram to get and another copy of windows 11 this time round.
I built up the exact same specs computer (apart from the case and Gpu) for my son / grandsons and everything worked fine, easy build, no real hiccups installing hardware OS etc.... but I transferred my one of my two registered copies to that one (Win 10) and got the free upgrade to win 11 after installing the OS.
So now I've got to get a retail copy of win 11 as the other retail copy's key is used on my other (intel based computer) build. In actual fact I've just stripped out my old Haf X case this week ready to take the new hardware...ye gods! the dust ...I'll have to take it outside and give it a good blow out / clean at some point this week. I'll be changing all the fans for new ones (I've already got those). I've also got all the old hardware to get rid of, all stuff still working fine but way way out of date. I've salvaged a 1TB ssd drive though plus a.500 GB 3.5" wd drive...🤔...they can be used for storage as I'll be using a WD 1tb 850x H/sink m2 drive for this build (same as the one I fitted in my sons comp.)

When I play the game I'm usually looking in on the forums or looking at online comp. hardware stuff generally at the same time , or have been the last month or so, because of the new build. The new ships has kept my interest going as well as this infuriating 'new feature' ! 😅... but I know what you mean about getting 'jaded', perhaps it's one of the 'joys' of getting older. 🧙‍♂️

... I'm rambling (another sign) so i'll get back to the game! :D

Jack :)
Visiting the Voyager probes is cool, (yes, there are two) they are where they should be in reality. I did that about a year ago, you can even view the gold plate in detail.
I dip into the Thargoid war every now and then, i have set up a Krait Mk2 specially for that.
Titan Raijin is vulnerable now, i might go in and throw some bombs at it.
My Amd 5800X3D / RX6800 still serve me well, i might skip the Am5 platform, and go for the next.

Famed Independent EXPLORER/ENFORCER CMDR Penny Noon was found drank to death underneath her Zorg-Peterson when Alliance Powers finally investigated an alarm at the Pinzon Settlement. Station security footage revealed:

All four of the station skimmers were blown up, unfortunately leaving no surviving station skimmers.

According with her very short last wishes, Penny will be buried in her red artemis suit.

A memorial for Penny Noon will be held at Mawson Dock next time boredom strikes.

4 or 5 rebuys attempting to reach Raijin and still have not gotten thru.

Whats the trick with the pulse wave neutraliser? I see the youtube guys charge it just as you see the pulse start 'exploding' and they get thru. I try the same and the wave hits me, shuts down thrusters and throws me back out 70-100km from the titan. Its really frustrating.

Oh noes :(

…what happened?

Was Penny caught unawares by a band of bandits, as she slept under the stars?

Did she have too much tipple and too little sustenance …and succumb to her bottle?

Was the drink spiked?

…what happened to Penny? 🤔

Timing - it might depend a bit on how far away from the UK you are, but for me, further than most, it seems best to leave the trigger til the last second, ie: after the pulse has actually begun… also put four pips to systems!

Well colour me a crimson krait but I had been forgetting to hold the button after it was fully charged, thinking you charge it up and thats it.

Made it thru with only having to overcome 1 wave (I hear most encounter 2? My boosty Krait Mk2 must have darted in fast eh? Or I was such a noob I never noticed it)

And I just fumbled around, no idea what the dorsal or ventral side looked like. stumbled on some geyser thing spewing steam and managed to lock on and launch a pair of Nanite torps into the vent, and for some reason, could not target it again for another set of torps (they go down after 1 torp?)

And according to the FAQ, I am supposed to go shoot the heart next? Boosting around I couldnt see ANYTHING except the bunch of turrets that sent me back to rebuy...AGAIN.

I didn’t do quite that many but I Brave Sir Robin’d to an available FC in a nearby system to repair and restock Corrosion Sinks a lot at the previous Titan until I got the timing right.

I went in with 4 pips to Eng and 2 to Sys until the blue glow starts when I would switch to 4 Sys and 2 Eng.
As the blue glow builds there is the noise of the pulse being fired, get your finger on the neutraliser button.
When you see the wave on the way wait a moment then before it reaches you hold the button down, there will be shaking and buffeting as the wave passes but if you got the timing right you should be on your way again.

You need to be moving fast because of the corrosion and also to encounter the fewest pulses, the more players trying to get through the more pulses are likely.

It really is all about the timing but once you get that you should find you get through on most attempts.

The heat core is on the opposite side of the titan. The vents are on top and the core ("heart") extends below, glowing brightly.

After you torpedo that geyser thing fly along the edge of the Titan looking for more of the same and torpedo those as they become targetable.
They are around the edge of one face of the Titan so when you get the alert you need to fly fast to the other face and shoot the big glowy thing sticking up out of the middle, shoot it a lot, then Brave Sir Robin into the asteroids to get out of the way of the blast.
A good opportunity to repair etc if you are cold enough not to be found, if you are lucky one of the NPC rescue ships will help.
Then sneak back to the face with the geysers and go again.

Failure to survive only harms your self esteem and rebuy budget not your achievements against the Titan.
