Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Gaargh. I wasn't paying attention to how many ships were firing on me and I ended up with my first rebuy in yonks. I could've sworn bounties survived ship destruction though. I'm glad I handed in all my previous data when I first got to Dhan now.

Anyway, I went for a second run determined to get on the leaderboard before logging out. I'll probably stay in the area till the CG is over so I can dip in and out.

Sounds familiar. Though Morgan quickly realized that she was outgunned when some missiles came hurtling for her. Performed a tactical retreat back to Kidd Station for repairs and a glass of lemonade before deciding to call it a day. The Viper Mk III feels a little sluggish with unengineered thrusters...

Sounds like you got yourself a wing on you. I'm such a coward (and a useless dreg in ship combat) that I tend to fight singles only. In my fully engineered Corvette bristling with guns and them n their novice Adders :D

Yes I'm just a beginner compared to all of you experienced veterans but my little victories mean a lot to me!
I'm still; hunting Genetic repair mods but after 10 Ground combats, which i enjoyed, I have an invite from Engineer, Hero Ferrari.
Step by step guys
Just because some of us have been around for a while doesn’t mean we have done everything, you have already gone further in ground combat than I have for example.

Back before I had access to engineers my first ’upgrade’ from the Sidewinder was a Viper I sold it and bought back the Sidewinder extremely quickly I just didn’t like the handling of the Viper.
They had seemed such a good ship back in original Elite that I thought they would be a great upgrade, after I had got rid I remembered I had done the same thing pretty much in Frontier: Elite II.

When I go up against such opposition in my Vette I send my SLF and pilot in first to soften them up or at least distract them as I try to sneak into an advantageous position.

The CG has been going for about eight days now and the progress seems to be round 50%

What happens if it doesn't get 100%?
This one not much as the non credits rewards were all achieved at the first tier, credits are increased each time a new tier is reached.

But some CGs have global rewards available to everyone in game and these can be triggered depending on the tier reached.
For example the fleet of Trailblazer Megaships was the result of a recent CG but as it only reached tier 5 of 8 we didn’t get all the Megaships we might have done if it had completed.

This CG being two weeks rather than the more usual one has been extended since it started so that it could last the full time and I suspect the last tiers as shown in game are larger, but progress usually picks up other the weekend.

There's lots of carriers scattered around at least, in case you want to get repaired and back in the fight. I just wanted to make sure those bounties were handed in.

I have been wondering about trying the Viper though for some reason. Just out of curiosity.

Oh yeah, there seems to be lots of wings at the first ringed planet and I may have gotten pummeled by an Anaconda. The fighter hadn't distracted him.

I may try the other two ringed planets just to mix things up.

I did pick on solo's first though, when I could find them.

Indeed. I've only done a handful of ground CZs so I haven't unlocked Hero.

Not that I didn't enjoy them. They're just not a high priority.

If I had thought of getting some Limpets, I might have been able to repair myself. But I noticed my focus was waning, so I wanted to make sure the vouchers were handed in. And I didn't want to risk losing the exploration data I had collected on the way there...

I take it you visited the hazardous RES?
For I had an Anaconda fighting on my "team" in the normal RES...
