Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hi :)

I'm attempting to get the permit for Alioth. It's not going too well...
I've got the Alioth permit but I acquired that literally years ago. I can't remember how I actually got it ...but i just did a search on the forums to try and help you out and came up with this. It seems that this might be another or the same bug?...here's some links that might help.

Jack :)

One day, I will try some of that. Is it like having your brains smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large, gold brick?

Yes, and you will love it.

I got a new Mandalay for the purpose of fitting it almost exclusively for exploration with a good FSD range. I've been jumping around a bit so I can add some experimentals to reduce mass. Even on the beam lasers.

Originally, I intended to keep the old Mandalay in case I wanted to use one for another purpose, but I scavenged it so much I'll just sell it.

The current one gets over 62Ly so it's about 20Ly better.

That said, I've gone cold on the Guardian grind idea so it wouldn't be used for that. The whole thing just seemed so horrifically boring and grindy. Not remotely fun gameplay.

I'll probably end up using it to head back to Colonia. Though It's kind've annoying that all the CG's are in bubble. That would seem to discourage exploration to some extent.

I also bought a Cobra V but I haven't touched it yet since I have no idea what I'd do with it. I've made a trip to Colonia with the Cobra III on both accounts, but it's redundant in that respect now that I have a Mandalay which can jump twice as far.

Decided to do a bit more Ground combat and I happened upon the strangest settlement war I've ever visited (I've only done about 8 to 10 different zones).
MAKONDA VISITOR ZONE in the KACHIRI system has you alone capturing the checkpoints and you alone doin'most of the killing!
The enemy land on rear upper balconies on the 5 habitats and the Bar and I run from one to the other to shoot them naughty lil rascals!
It's just a strange little cary on - if anyone else wants to try that one I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Well that was a faff.

Speakers were not quite far enough apart to have that much bigger screen between them... (I was upgrading from multiple 22") which turned out to be because I didn't have enough speaker wire when I moved house. So one trip to a helpful neighbour later for speaker wire, I have a much better stereo image as well as a much bigger visual image, and I'm sitting in the middle of my desk instead of six inches off to one side.

Forgot I'd get HDR as a bonus, which is fab, but then took me down the SDR->HDR->ED's broken gamma option rabbithole (inb4: I fixed it)

Now I just need to get used to exobiology happening in my peripheral vision sometimes!

On iRacing I think I will gain FPS because I was using three screens which requires reprojection, whereas now I have one curved screen I don't need it.

And I just fired up a Word doc or two to see what it's like with a proper modern paper white display and wow, that's going to literally save headaches.

Spreadsheets are a revelation on a big screen.

Ahem. Not that I use them anymore now I'm retired. No, never. Uh uh.

On another note: I find systems around M class stars very boring on the whole so I've omitted them from my filter. They still turn up in multi star systems though, which is very sneaky.

But wait until you get into colonisation or engineering weapons and suits.

They can also show up if there isn’t an alternative on a route.

I am scouting for possible colony locations using the old select a star method as route plotting won’t work out here.
Just filling in time as I don’t want to actually try and start colonising until Thargsday given the eight hour downtime on Wednesday.

I really wish had the ability to sort by one criteria, then have a "then by" option in the sysmap.

You could join-in with the Suggestion for multiple filters:
