Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hi :)
Carrier jump should be done now, and if everything went well, should be parked in Piscium Sector QI-T b3-5, 12.63 ly from Minerva. I'm using a T-9 that has around 20 ly loaded.

We're virtually neighbours at the moment! :D...My Carriers in LP 706-69...23 Carriers here, 24 including mine (Wild Deer)
I've got one more shipment to do then I'm going into Open at Minerva to test the through traffic...should be interesting. 🤭
Test how long to dock there with auto docking on and then do some manual docking / undocking in the Panther.

I've been preparing dinner so even though the games been running I haven't been playing, so I suppose I'm 'double parked'....back at the controls now.
Edit...Damn!...2 missions for source and return mined osmium at 15,000,000 +each at Starlace Terminal...and I've run out of it. 😞.

Jack :)

What does this mean?

I didn't know you could engineer cargo racks to have "increased capacity", how does that work?
We can't but some modules are built with engineering added in this way.
It works through sufficiently advanced technology and Clarke's law.
The Panther special slots are only size 7 and size 8 and unique to that ship.
Yes.

Does this mean smaller ship will be given special slots for special cargo racks?
We don't think they will be so mean as to give us new modules but then make us wait for a ship to fit them to.

I'm in open at the moment and my shieldless T8 was almost crushed to death by a fleet of Panthers. Fdev have clearly made a few sales.

Another three for the assault course.

Hi ;)

:ROFLMAO:.....I sometimes think along those lines when I'm out exploring, but I'm not 'attached' to any of those factions though as I've not participated in power play (I presume that's what you mean).
The time has come...I'm getting bored with hauling for the current CG so I'm going to do some core and laser mining, after I've dropped of this load of Titanium. This should put me into the 50% level. I'm also going to kit my 2nd Panther out with some mining stuff and see how it performs.

Jack :)
Wow, you already have two?
I'm thinking of buying the standard version and kitting it out myself.
I am doing the CG with my old Type 9, hoping to stay in the top 75%.

I can now verify that it is easier to evade an interdiction in the Panther than in the T9 :D

I got interdicted whilst hauling to the CG, and was able to escape fairly easily (and I haven't actually been interdicted in over a year, so I'm out of practice).

Yay, points for me (and the Panther)!

Great, in the Type 9 i always do the stop and go, hoping my shield keeps up long enough.

Yeah, I know, money to burn . I've accumulated around 50 billion credits in the 10...or is it 11 year's ... I've been playing so...🤷‍♂️
Some players have probably got twice that amount I think.
I've mentioned this before somewhere (Probably in the 'Panther Club' topic...Ships and Engineers), it's the first 'Stellar' ship version I've bought with Arx, the ship's named 'Stellar Star' (so I don't get it mixed up with the second one ). And the other one (I call it 'Wild Deer Corporation PC2') I've virtually changed all the modules and replaced them with engineered ones on this one (Still need to tinker around with that as it runs a little 'hot'* sometimes), but it's got a 45.62Lyr jump range and 353 boost speed, 40.99 mw power usage and total power available is 50.4 mw. It's good with all guns blazing, I just have to keep the pips at two points each.
Downside to that...it's now gone up to 46,228,284 credits re-buy cost, I'll have to see about whittling that cost down a bit. ;)

The current CG...I managed to pop into the 50% bracket yesterday, and I've just dropped another 1040t of cmm's this morning to top that up, with the time limit quite large on this CG I expect I'll have to keep periodically topping that up some more sometime. 🫤

I've also been quite assertive and sold off quite a few old engineered modules and ships...I've still got to slim those down a bit more. for now though I'm finally going to do some serious mining, and accumulate a few hundred tons of Osmium, as Starlace Terminal is rife with mined Osmium source missions. 🤑

* Does anybody have any suggestions about why it's running hot?...It's cool enough in normal use but if I get a bit near a star it tends to overheat especially when I then start jumping into another system or go into supercruise in the stars vicinity.....strange. the 'Stellar Star' doesn't seem to have that problem btw. but most stuff is low power on that one anyway so...

Edited...missed out the 'go into' supercruise.

I'm not an expert, but in my understanding overheating is usually related to power usage vs powerplant efficiency. An overcharged powerplant will overheat quicker because it's 25% less efficient (as you can see by the Efficiency stat).

You can reduce power usage by turning off stuff you don't plan to use immediately, or using low-power engineering on stuff.

My Panther seems to run relatively cool, but I've not got a lot of stuff on it (no weapons, for example, and a stock powerplant).

I thought I'd foolishly take the Corsair for a stroll in Minerva to see how it runs after interdiction, but there's an irritating wing of four FDL's loitering around. One of them followed me after I high waked/woked to Nyx but my shields got slammed by something when I turned after a couple of interdictions. I thought it was best to aim for a station while I had 30% hull left.

I may finally do some hull engineering before the next attempt because I may not have even fully done the main hull and the Corsair has more reinforcements than the Krait.

Also, ganking in a wing is kinda lame. Better luck next time, chaps.
