Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Shame about that excessively long snout though. ;)

The Imperial ship designers would have nowhere to put their old fashioned iron sights without that excessively long snout:p

Ranking aside the iCourier is a cracking little combat ship. Two beams and a multi canon alongside some impressive speed makes you dangerous in any Res site but when your shields go down use that speed to run away!

I think I've made up my mind. One or two things to check out then I'm probably off to Fiden to see a man about a Krait... that could all change by the time I get back aboard ship though :D :D :D

Every way I look at the Krait, it just seems to be a great choice for almost anything you care to do with it. There are some impressive stats for it's performance with some dirty drag drives on it!

And it just looks so damn fine :)

If only there were shipyards out here :D

They can. Ok, one collision. Which took me down from 2 rings to 19% hull, but didn't seem to faze the Clipper that much. At least I was able to run afterwards.

LOL
Pre 3.0 engineering was especially fun for the Courier too.

I had a really hot running setup for a while, just trying to eek out a little more speed from those EPTs.
It would basically burst into flames while firing or anywhere near a star...

The joy/relief/disbelief when I finally rolled a high* multiplier (without horrible penalties) was something I haven't had since, but I won't miss that process at all!
Hundreds of rolls just on the Courier...

*G4ish by 3.0 standards

Plus, they would enjoy getting into the darkest recesses of a confined space like that. No matter how infeasible it appears.

Yesterday i went to eddb and lookt for Synthetic Fabrics, bought 280 and took a peek @ the stations that were not visited in a long time and did them...the oldest was 380 days, refreshed in 5 minutes.
Could not finish my list tho, this bird goes only 14.5ly/jump @ max cargo.
Had really some fun doing this, tomorow back in that game [yesnod].

Hmmm. Checked out a Krait build on Coriolis but found it difficult to obtain a decent jump range without Guardian tech. Was hoping to get a replacement/upgrade to my AspX but to no avail. Probably missed the bleeding obvious so I'll look again later.

My Asp will do a 50ly max jump and is not stripped down to its minimum. The Krait build came on at about 38.

I think I'm expecting too much!

Krait jump range is better than a Python or one of the new Alliance ships, pretty decent for a multi-role ship, but it's no Asp or DBX I'm afraid.

But look at the internals! And the option for SLF (no Alternative Ulster option though ;) ). And the power available... And the coffee machine on the bridge :)

It's a true multi-role vessel: I've messed about in Coriolis and built a decent miner, a good explorer, and an (on paper) astonishing combat ship, all inside that one hull :)

This https://s.orbis.zone/cz2 is a quick explorer build that I knocked up, gets a 50ly jump range if you don't carry toys like an SLF hangar. I'm sure it could be refined better too :) Even without the guardian tech, it's still a 40ly range ship, which is definitely good enough for the sort of stuff I've been doing, though perhaps a little dicey for the extreme edges of the galaxy.

I'm biased, though. I think it's a gorgeous craft :D

I am currently pondering my next ship. So far, I have the Sidey, Hauler, T6, Dolphin, DBX, Vulture, Cobra and AspX. I have 125m credits burning a hole in my Remlock pockets.

The FDL, Python and Krait are all doable but I'll need A rated modules which will skint me. Or shall I just keep saving until I can wangle a 'Conda? Decisions, decisions! :D

ETA The Clipper also looks nice. Rank locked though. I may have to work for Emporer Palpatine for a while.

The Clipper is my current favourite ship in the game. Grace, space and pace. Love it.

*authentic Codger voice* "Why back in my day, we went to Colonia in a T6 with a 32LY jump range and thought it was the bees knees!"

It's funny how our expectations change over time. Thanks to Guardian tech, my Corvette does 32LY these days. I remember when it was 14. My long-range boats like the DBX and 'Conda are well over 60 now, with weapons and shields even.

I used to happily fly around with 20LY jump range. Not any more, lol. I can barely stand 30LY lately :)

PS - I just finished unlocking the FSD booster on my second account, which had zero materials to start with. It was enjoyable, actually, and took me about 6 hours total (I wasn't rushing, and even stopped to check out some other stuff). Someone who's never ever done it before might take longer, but it's SO worth having.

My multi-role Krait does 42 at the moment. If I made a dedicated explorer out of it I could get 56 or so, based on Coriolis. https://s.orbis.zone/c-7

I might do that sometime.

Right now I'm just enjoying the increased freedom in all my ships. I actually fly the Corvette places instead of transferring it now.

I’m thinking about going for the Guardian Power Distributor over the next few days. From what I’ve seen as a result of playing around with Coriolis it could be useful for some smuggling builds. Though many seem to think it’s poor(er) compared to an engineered human distributor.

The thing to do when you get to where the stars get as far apart as your jump range is to make sure you don't jump anywhere without the fuel to jump back, especially if you are doing a boosted jump.
If the system is only reachable in the longest jumping ship in the game using no internals and a small fuel tank that is nearly empty then no one can rescue you.
