The things this games forces you into...
From what I've read, with illegal passengers the punishment is severe. Instant bounty and the risk of being blown up by the station, but with illegal goods it seems that the only punishment is a fine. Not that dangerous, but before anyone break bad: The selling price of narcotics is ridiculously low. I lost money on that adventure. Now it's Dwella time. Need a G5 distributor on my new Corvette. Currently it's outfitted with two huge effective beams and a shield. That's all you need in this Universe![]()
Go for the Anaconda. Mine is a fierce fighter and great explorer, with a 30+ light year jump range. The Conda is also the only ship in the game that displays visual damage - so that's extra immersion too. Good luck!Found a structure in Balante. They wanted help defending their medical supplies. I was in my cargo running Python that's not designed for fighting but they seemed really needy so I hopped in.
It wasn't a bad effort until another Python showed up. I held my own until I started taking internal damage so, at that point, I decided a Freewinder offer would be a bit galling and it was wake time.
The thing is, I enjoyed myself. What I learnt:
Multi cannons are fun but take too long to spin up.
Better armour is a must.
Better piloting must be accomplished.
What now?
I think I'm going to build a ship with lots of combat stuff. My Vulture could work but I fancy something bristling with hard points. Time to get the glossy brochures from Falcon, Lakon etc. and go and spend some of my 1bn.

Y'know, I've been thinking about a 'Conda for the longest time... it's inability to land at platforms has been putting me off but, now I like the fighting a bit more, perhaps it's time to splash out
Looks like it's going to costa del packet to fully equip but I do have quite lot of engineers open and a nice pool of mats. All that cash though... ages to make, seconds to spend![]()
The Python is a decent ship of course, and an essential stepping stone for many commanders, but chances are that it will not be able to stand up against any of the big three without suffering.First you should consider what you want to do. Your Python for example could be a decent combat ship while still staying multipurpose enough to trade or run missions, if properly outfitted (another competitor for that role would be the Krait Mk II). The Ananconda is basically a bigger version of the Python that's far more lumbering and can't land at outposts, but excels in capacity and jump range. For a pure combat ship you'd be better suited with something like an FdL or one of the Alliance ships (I recommend the Chieftain); but if you're not that proficient in combat, I'd probably stay in the Vulture and get some experience first.
(I recommend the Chieftain);
As an aside, why would you recommend a Chieftain over its stable mates like the Challenger. I note a lot of pilots fly Chieftains, but relatively few fly Challengers and was just wondering if there was a reason why. I've been flying a Challenger for months and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm missing a trick somewhere by not shifting to the Chief...
It has proven to be a decent ship from my experience. I do like to go into one of the small/medium ships to remember the olden days though.![]()
Yeah, around that. You can take a look at mine here. It's fully A-rated and has good shields, a fuel scoop, reactive surface composite bulkheads and a few other bits such as shield boosters. I haven't started engineering the weapons and hull though, but that doesn't really cost anything - aim for about 700 - 800 credits. If you have access to Jameson Memorial, that's pretty handy, you could save some credits as well as having all of the modules in one place. If not, go to Li Yong Rui space - 15% discount on all ships and modules. That's where I did the majority of upgrading. Good luck!"Research, research, research" - Daisy Steiner
Trying to find out how much cash I need to splash on A-rating the 'Conda (mostly) and fitting BFG's everywhere possible and all sorts of countermeasures. I'm calculating about 700mincluding the hull. Could be way off though.

ETA - nevermind, I'm just going to go for it, credits be damned![]()
...Or passenger carrying (60+ million in under an hour)...Yes somewhere between 700-800 million credits for a combat Anaconda should be OK if you run short of credits fill it with core explody mining kit and go hunting Void Opals a couple of hundred tons of them should redress the balance.
I know that feeling! Did you get the plastic wrapping off the seats yet?She feels great so farProlly shoulda done this ages ago.
