Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Swapped out for a viper3 and tried rails, plasma accelerators, cannons, multi-cannons, fragment cannons, missiles and seekers ,(are these los?) ,but nothing seemed to work on the power conduit.
I don't know if cem would work, and i just can't seem to get a handle on the mining anyway,so i'm going to put my time to better use with the other 98% of the galaxy just as soon as my ride arrives. :)

I seem to remember from somewhere they are "cutter" beams used for slicing spaceships in half. I may be wrong...

Or possibly 'cesium' which do the same thing.

I see Galnet is reporting Professor Palin's move from Maia to Arque. I don't think we can dock with his megaship so I'm assuming we'll have to get our engineer freak on with others.

What I am up to now: I am currently having a cup of tea.

Well, this is annoying...

Last year I made the journey out to Colonia, thought it was pretty cool but rather too similar to the Bubble. So I made the trip home via a 30,000ly detour. Just over a week ago I decided to head out to the black again, and found what I thought was a remote station out west. Just arrived tonight... only to discover I'm 50ly from Colonia?!

Major navigation fail on my part, but on the upside, I'm now a billionaire. My last three trips have earned roughly 250m, 300m and 250m credits. Easy money!

That is beyond "Wrongway" Corrigan levels of miss navigation and even surpasses Carson Napier. :)

Got bored with heavy haulage, and took a run out to Omega mining again in a 50 ly AspX.
Then side stepped to Rohini, where I made a bad decision and brought a Krait MkII with a hippy paint job from some space back packers.
It did not jump as far as they said it would jump when I moved all my engineered AspX stuff into to it. Limped home to the bubble.

Next day, built a good Python Ring mining vessel, bit of engineering for power and jump performance.

Found this nice place to start getting my investment back. Oh, hello shiny....

Got a bit scared with 31 units of Monazite in the hold, so got out and sold it for over 10M Cr....need to have the nerve to get a full hold(128) of Opals one day?

Took a nice load of cargo from Ray's to Rothman's Vista. Interdicted en route. Got away - in a T9. Offloaded. Came back up from the surface and that pesky pirate was still on at me "...surprised you made it this far!" etc. No cargo here mate, jog on. Entered the no fire zone back at the station and the cheeky goit said unto me "I'm gonna boil you up!". Yes, of course you will. Jolly good.

Shame I wasn't in my 'Conda. I might have turned him into ludicrous gibs.

Anyway. I wonder where these NPC commanders get their names? Earlier, I saw quite the ridiculous sounding "Winnie Perdequaste Chocolate" followed closely by "Dylan Thomas". o_O

At the moment I am playing rescue/evacuation ship in the Witch Head with “Hackenbacker” a T10 equipped with locally sourced modules and bits I had in storage, fortunately it doesn’t need to jump anywhere, but it is magnificent at this.

Get docking permission and enter the burning station, fly over my designated pad and stop then deploy cargo scoop and launch a couple of collector limpets then every 70 seconds deploy a heatsink when the countdown gets to 30 seconds dock and load evacuees then undock and scoop or limpet the remaining cargo etc. and head out after another 3 minutes, line up for the escape ship while my heat drops back to about 19% very satisfying.

Well, today I decided to go check out them thar crystalline shards everyone's been talking about. They've been found in a few places, the closest being about 1500 LY from the bubble.

I have three reasons for going to see them.

1) I have never seen them
2) They drop raw mats in abundance
3) I need a change of pace. Too much combat lately (but I'm 17% Dangerous now...slow going lol).

So I loaded up the DBX with an SRV and popped on out to the first known location for the shards, HIP 36601. That's where I am now.

It was easy enough to locate the correct areas, thanks to the DSS. The shards themselves are surrounded by fumaroles, making for some rather interesting and slightly creepy visuals.

I plan to stay out here for a few days, doing an hour or two here and there to fill up my raw mats and see all of the various sites. There's quite a few of these shard sites in the general vicinity, so I expect to find some interesting sights to go along with the mat gathering.

My mat gathering expedition is going well. It's been quite interesting to see these biological sites. I'd never have guessed they were biological, they look so rock-like.

I just have one more planet to visit before I'll return.

I can't get Selenium or Zirconium out here, but all the other grade 4 and 5 raw materials will be full! (and I have a fair amount of Selenium because I traded for it before I came out here. I have...48 Zirconium too, so that's not empty. I should be good on raw materials for quite some time!)

Here are some of the sights from today:

Mind the spikes:

As a hard core engineering maniac, I can say visiting the Crystalline shards will set you up for a long time.

Plus, like you, I very much enjoyed the trip and the exploration.

On my last 'short' visit I ended up out on the fringe looking for... Well anything really.

At the moment I'm doing the 'Enclave' thingy, hauling in my T-9 'Horace Bury', it's good to be back in the big (sluggish) boy.
Got the manual landings down pat now.

Wacking Thargoid Scouts last weekend has got me within 10% of triple Elite.
No rush, but, I want that decal!
(grumbles about PS4 account).

Still not bored with Elite Dangerous!
:D🍺(y)

Aaaah. Coffers replenished. At last.

These pirates are very sick puppies... "... all that tasty cargo!". Yes indeedy - 180 units of biowaste. Not sure your diet is going very well.

ETA. Just got my personal best on missions - 4 in one go to a single destination. 16.9mCR. A bit nerve wracking carrying 660 units of medicine type stuff in a T9 to Laplace Ring. No interdictions though so we got through unscathed. I need to rename her - "Richard Richard" isn't ideal. Suggestions on a postcard, please ...

:D

Last night I left my ship parked on a planet. This was my view when I logged in:

Nice way to start the day!

I successfully concluded my raw material gathering expedition. The DBX performed admirably and got me back safe and sound, with a few million in exploration data and a larder full of raw materials.

I've never felt quite so wealthy :D
