Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Did the Reorte run and enjoyed the trip and the ARX. Specially the ARX which are to be spent on a paintjob. But which one?..

Then, flushed by my Federal Navy promotion sat back and had my deputy pilot (my daughter) fly us down to Galileo station and get all emotional about our Solar System. Hovered in orbit above old Blighty and waved 👋 then returned to the Ito Station and more ARX.

A good weekend and more than halfway towards becoming mostly harmless. Don’t the Galaxy will be particularly anxious about that though.

Next week our project is to map out the continents on Rhea 5.

Having notched up the “and everyone else” rank for the delivery CG, and thus 1.6Mill better off with the Cobra skin to boot, I thought I’d have a pop at the combat CG as well, just for a few Mill extra.

So I took all but one cargo bay out of the Krait, and stuffed her with hull and module protection units, before heading into Reorte. I dropped out at the Nav Beacon, and had a bit of a look around to see if there was much happening. Turned out there was. Plenty of action, in fact :) I had a great time in there for an hour or so, clearing out the scum and villainy, and picking up shed loads of materials with the aid of my faithful limpets.

There were two mistakes I made, though. One was letting the limpets pick up everything, because one of them kindly retrieved a ton of stolen Bauxite for me, which then earned me a minor fine from the cops on patrol. The other was taking on a Dangerous Anaconda, which was being beaten up by the Allied Police, but decided I was it’s major target. At 22% hull, I threw pips into engines and boosted out of there as rapidly as possible!

When I went to turn in the bounty vouchers (after paying off my fine, of course!), I discovered that I had nearly a million credits racked up from them... which put me into the 75% group right from the get go! If the combat CG is still going when I get back tomorrow, I shall be going back out to gather a few more materials and credits, and see if I can push myself a little higher. I never thought I’d see the day in E: D where I was moving up the combat ladder like that :D

Did a short write-up and video about the External Camera Suite for a newcomer who was asking about it, over here -->

That's my contribution for the day :)

Look who's double posting again...

Not had chance to get up to much this evening - got all my ARX bonii from logins, snagged the Iridescent Dawn paint for my Adder - not had chance to apply it yet, so here's a clearer look at the same scheme on the Hauler:

3PSYbSs.png

Decided to get CMDR Newbie McOpen out of Reorte now the rewards have all been claimed. Some weird shenanigans at Slough orbital when I set off - Station defenses firing at something but the onoly hollow square I could see appeared to be inside the station.

Whatever was going on, someone/thing plinked my shields a couple of times, and my utility mount Point Defenses fired a couple or three rounds each at something as I boosted out and away, but no serious harm, no fines, no wanted warnings, nada. Exciting, but utterly baffling!

MAde it to Reorte and Davies High without incident. Claimed rewards. Decided to head out via Lave, fill the Hauler with Brandy and head out... somewhere... Fringes of the bubble maybe, find some quite little spot and tinker with the BGS maybe? Yeah, I had started to get into that once before, and sure, a single CMDR can't do a whole heap of much, but I have forgotten everything I learned about it, so time to go re-learn.

Couple of ASP npc's undocking ahead of me, in a holding pattern, meh, just thread between 'em.

Looks like some pewpew outside, hopefully too busy to notice my little Hauler, however shiney.

Ho there, look out, Cobra III coming through the mail-slot hot!

No problem, just hug the green light.

Nyyyyyyyppppppwwwwwwwwm! Some clown in a scarlet Beluga comes tearing between us, also heading out-bound. Quite how we didn't have any kind of contact, much less all just 'splode in the airlock, is still a mystery.

Out, turn, boost for destination, boost again.

Byyyyeeeeeeeoooooooo. Shields offline.

Hull integrity breached.

Taking damage.

Would've been nice to get an 'Under attac...'

Wait, did that red Beluga just rear-end me?

'Under attack...' Uh, those look like flak-pellets sailing past my window.

'Frame Shift Drive - charging'.

Well, the flak doesn't seem to hurt. Pretty 'random, and light', in fact.

Oh crap here comes Captain Clown Shoes in his Beluga again...

3... CRUNCH*BOUNCE*ROLL..2...1... Engage!

Made it to Lave with 7% hull remaining! Despite being rammed twice by a Beluga. Oh well, too bad CCS, too bad. Shame I didn't catch the actual CMDR name to populate my block list with. Oh well, maybe next time.

Lave, thankfully was devoid of any live CMDR's, able to dock, repair, fill up with Brandy and hoof it to a quieter border region of the Bubble.

Next, check out the local situation re BGS factions, any local CMDRs who call the area home, see if any factions take my fancy, or if Ineed to move on.

Must remember to get my Colonia bound CMDR the chrome Keelback paint before I sign off!

@SpaceGoblin , what a great story :)

I would like to give you more rep than the forum allows me to, especially for 1) Using “bonii” and 2) Giving me a really good laugh with “Captain Clown-shoes” 😂 From this point on, that will be what I think of every Beluga pilot hogging the slot that I see :)

Not too much from my own adventures tonight, but one new experience I had would be worth mentioning to see if anyone else has had this.. I dropped into a “Convoy Dispersal: Threat 0” signal earlier, expecting the usual pack of T9s or a string of T7s or something, but instead found a solitary Beluga, named “Gameshow Ship”. The comms panel showed a message from someone saying “I’m starving! I’ve done my challenge and all they gave me to eat were insects!” or something like that :)

I scanned it, flew round it, but it did nothing. After a minute or two, it started charging its FSD, and then high-waked out.

I don’t know if they are supposed to do anything more than that, has anyone else found one of them before?

Nice find. I get much too excited when I find something unusual in a Signal Source; the other day I found a wrecked Type-9 and about 50T of grain and algae... those pirates must be fools to leave all this behind... Suckers!... now it's all mine! Gleefully scooped it all up and pored over the trade map to find the best possible price for it.

Madness, I know, but it keeps me entertained 🤪

Heh, glad it amused you - I'm reliably informed by my partner that 'bonii' is all kinds of grammatically incorrect - for some reason this only makes me say it more :LOL:

As for 'Captain Clown Shoes' my first thought upon surviving the beluga/mail-slot interface 'nice clown car, buddy!', so it seemed like a natural, forum friendly, continuation of that theme - I was going to go with 'CMDR' instead of 'Captain', but didn't want anyone to mistake it for 'naming and shaming' - no matter how big a 'hole' a CMDR is being/has been, thats a no no

'I'm a Z list celebrity, get me off this space-ship!'

sound of airlock cycling...

"Bonii" - I've heard and used this in the context of "complete bonii". Suspect it's roots are Anitpodean but may be wrong.

Time for a break from scuttling little ships in the high RES. Need to move on... what to do next? I know, I fancy something less exciting to calm down - off to J's crash site and Dav's for some mat pootling.

'Complaints Dept'

Sign taped to my Beluga's airlock. :D

Used by me as a 'faux latin' plural of bonus. In defiance of all reason/logic, according to the Missus o_O:ROFLMAO:
I thought Bonii was from some Scottish folk song at first.

Sounds reasonably good faux Latin to me but then I am uneducated in any for of Latin.

Well since bonus is borrowed from Latin where it means "good" - you cannot pluralise "good" in Latin. Plural of bonus is bonuses. If you want to pluralise something in Latin why not use Fora instead of Forums?

I have to admit that seeing the use of "bonii" immediately made me think of Julian and Sandy :

(for those too young to remember)

Hours trolling up and down that HazRES all weekend. My lallies are killing me.

Paused after that CG slaughter session, and went to my local producer/slaughter to buy 566 Euro (ouch!) worth of the finest Angus and Galloway cuts and all for the freezer. His meat is amongst the very best I had in my entire life, coming from a wild herd living naturally, growing slower, living longer etc. , intesne flavour & healthy meat. That's us sorted for the next 9-10 month with beef. :)
