Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Fast spinning asteroids are collector limpets' worst enemy. I try to position the ship at the axis of rotation but it's not infallible.

I think I may have said it before but, when you're close in to your mined fragments, you can hear them crunch as they grab their prey and the joyous, watery, bubbly sound as they buzz around.

Glorious.

And seen from outside the ship they are working from limpets make a wonderful visual display

Smacking pirates about for ALD continues. Sitting on about 300 million in bounties on the off chance that the bonus from rating 5 will apply on Thursday. I really should read up on this, but meh.

Tanya is... I've no idea, probably still in that scabby dive bar at Robigo. Might send her new orders (like she takes orders ) to go check out the Crystalline Shard sites followed by long Palin unlock trip. Doubt she can get into much trouble out there...

Still at the Guardian Structure. I hate the SRV, I hate sentinels, I hate planets that aren't flat as a pancake and I hate taking off the VR headset to figure out what mats I need.

On the positive side, I love the EDHM HUD mod. It really transforms the look of the inside of any spaceship. As an example, here is the bridge of a Phantom, with lights resembling a cheap brothel. It's also less straining on the eyes. I've always had the feeling of driving a car at night with the interior lights on, whenever I fly one of the Imperial ships:

I'm done with that Guardian Structure as well - took way too long to complete as I kept timing out the pylons as I couldn't find them all in time. Tried to do it from memory then had to resort to a map. The first of which I found was out of date and had me scouting in the wrong areas.

I hate sentinels too. One attempt saw me accidentally dismiss the ship so you can imagine how things then went :D And then I found too many ground snags that had me boosting like a loon to try and free myself, whilst under attack.

And the six - yes, six! - that popped after I'd got the blueprint! I don't remember that happening before!

I'm sure it wasn't this much of a chore last time. Ah well.

And now I need some advice.

I have one blueprint to spend and almost all of the other stuff but I'm unsure of what module to get (already have the FSD booster) and I'm not looking for Guardian weapons. So... shield reinforcement, PP, PD, hull or module reinforcement - what would be the most beneficial? I'm thinking combat but not Thargoid. Shields?

Thanks!

Shield or module reinforcements.
Don't bother with the hull reinforcements, the standard ones can be engineered better than the Guardian ones.

Edit: I think I'm gonna send Tanya back to the Guardian sites, let her do a bit of scouting. I had bookmarks for the easiest Guardian sites, but they're on PS4.

I don't know how this thread has managed to keep going. The Star Citizen Discussion thread is in its 12th incarnation - threads always were limited to 10,000 (ish) posts and this one is approaching 12,000.

see: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/star-citizen-discussion-thread-v12.548510/post-8541288

So maybe the new forum board (this one) has different restrictions as the raxxla thread is over 20,000 posts: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-quest-to-find-raxxla.168253/post-8874936

Also the formidine rift mystery thread is in its 4th incarnation and is over 14,000 posts: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/the-formidine-rift-mystery-part-4.324796/

There are probably more

maybe @Yaffle or a colleague can drop in and explain.

I am presently on my way to Beagle Point. I have only 240 jumps from Swieruae IX-L c7-0 (63,560 LY from Sol), where I parked for the night.

After the visit to BP, it's off to Oevasy SG-Y d0. I expect to reach these systems by New Year's Eve.

Watch out for gankers if you're in open, they're sometimes there looking for explorers to destroy.

So after a looong day (I actually planned for the star to rise), I ended up with three Guardian module blueprints. I wanted the Guardian Shield booster thingy, so I needed a lot of delta data, but that was hard to find, even relogging. Therefore I went to a Guardian ruin instead, just to realize that this one didn't hand out delta. D2EA to the rescue. He had a video of another ruin site, so I ended up with a lot of data and mats. After a few trips to get exotic commodities I am now also the proud owner of the Guardian PD (and the shield thingy), with one module blueprint left in the bank, and I already have the FSD booster.

Haven't tried the PD yet, but looking at the numbers, it's rather interesting. Not only does it perform almost like a decently engineered a-class PD, it also boosts the output of any PP. I like to run my PP cool, so being able to run armored instead of overcharged might come in handy on some ships. I have an old Mamba build, called Hindenburg, because it's got all incendiary MCs, and that might be fixable using the Guardian PD.

Btw. The sounds at the Gaurdian structures are simply amazing. It literally made me jump in the seat at one time, leaving me with a high pulse, and I'm not easily scared :D
