Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It would on the tire as well. But that's not the point.
I had a situation the other day where some Scavengers were attacking my ship and I had to run over to defend it. I attempted to shoot a guy who was near the ship, and part of my shotgun blast hit my own ship. It made pretty lights, but I decided to be more careful in the future and only hit the bad guys.

Would've been terrible if my own shotgun blast was the last blow that killed my ship!

my new/old Ferrari. erm asp explorer. (saved money and converted my old asp:) need to get some more mats to up some levels to G5 on some of the engineering a few already there. :

but isn't that always the case in ED.

My new computer arrived yesterday and I've been working on getting everything installed. I was able to run EDO for a bit today and test things out.

My FPS is better with the new rig (Ryzen 5900X, RTX 3070 Ti Gaming OC 8G), which is good. 60s in stations, 50s in settlements. The one settlement I went to was smooth, with only a few minor stutters.

The game doesn't look any different, though, same old jaggies and whatnot. I do not have a 4k monitor, so I'm just running 1080.

Maybe when they do the anti-aliasing upgrades later this year it'll look better. I mean, it doesn't look bad, except for the antialiasing, really, so...here's hoping :)

But I got all my Bindings transferred, and Journals, and Visited Stars, so that's all great. I'm ready for the future, I guess :p

Still testing my new Diamondback armed explorer build, before I venture into the black. This time it's going to be south east, a place I have never really visited except for very short trips.. Lyra's Song, Tenebrae.. Got 70lys range and a full gun loadout! Although these days the concept of deep exploration doesn't exist anymore.. with carriers everywhere! ;)

Last stop in civilization, Hell Port! Well, not exactly civilization.. it's a hellhole run by anarchy gangs,.. :) But at least there's some people, a station, even a shipyard!

This little ship is turning out to be great fun. Nice cockpit views, nice agility, and it can fight! I did the same experiment with a Cobra III, and the Diamondback is a much better fighter. Basic advantage is that it has a size 3 gun, it's very easy not to get hit, and also to outmanoeuvre most opponents! Plus the jump range is killer.

And off I go!!

DiamondBack for the win! Not sure why you need guns on an explorer though. Your choice, respect.

Mostly just to have them. But I also plan to revisit several deep space outposts, and you can do some fighting in these systems for fun and to spice things up a bit.
Interesting! Never thought of that before...

Great to hear your new rig is s shaping up nicely!

And you've just given me a heads up on journals and visited stars - I need to get mine backed up and ready to transfer. I think I know where they are...

Cheers!

Sometimes I play to loose...
Trying to unlock Terra Velasquez doing the covert theft missions when they show up. I have mats for Oden ready and waiting plus module mats stacked and ready.
Not that successful scanning moving targets to steal ID levels for access. Sometimes I have to shoot...
Then scan. The price is immediate notoriety and a trip to the pen. And then try to build up rep to get the offer of more covert missions.
I have noticed that when I loose a mission. sometimes the next mission has lesser npc's or even sometimes npc's that don't patrol., just stand there.
Making it easier to sneak up and san. Succeed in 1 in four. It's interesting to watch the game evolve around my loosing.
And how the most needed mats are offered for the harder type missions.

Just got back from a jaunt in the near black and I'm in Tau Ceti now.

There's an Orbis starport here and I got in very close before engaging the DC * to see how it would cope. The funny thing is, the DC never flies you through the station ring, always around it, despite it being longer. I'm going to hack the computer and make some adjustments :D

* Yes, I still use it :D I'm just lazy. While it does its thing - and, to date, it hasn't crashed me - I scan EDDB for prices.

Edit: I thought I'd hit a bug when I couldn't get back in my ship from on foot. No blue beam-me-up-Scotty circle. Aha! It appears the Dolphin's entry point is on the side. A very small point to note in case things get hairy.

I hv a DBS sitting in hangar somewhere in the galaxy, just brought DBX and starting thinking how to fit it.

Went to Eurybia and visited Liz Ryder. I didn't need it (at all), but I randomly engineered Wednesday's missile racks, just to grade 1 with some experimentals. As she's only used for blolwing up scav's, it was pretty pointless but what the heck - I'm just killing time until the price is right for selling my platinum. At the time of writing, I could get a nice amount but it's all the way over in Colonia.

So... I've now picked a system that has a few landable planets where I'll be doing some scav work of my own. I wonder what a rapid-fire modification with thermal cascade will do to a human? I'm going to go and see.

This is her trying to look menacing:

Actually, that's a pretty cool looking ship I'd say. I've been in my Vulture the last couple days. I did put one missile rack on it, just to have some with me, but I hardly ever use them any more. I prefer to do the ground combat most of the time. Except for some of the POIs like Irregular Markers and Crash Site. Those I don't care about so I sometimes just blast away and get it over with, lol.

PS I'm 4% Deadly now. I've been doing a fair bit of shooting!

Cheers and grats on the combat ranking. Very gindy though, isn't it?

This is Wednesday again, this time with gun ports open as the Minbari would say:

I took out the T6 to visit the suit engineer today, just because I haven't flown it in a while. I like that little ship. It has a boxy charm to it, and it handles really nicely.

I flew it's predecessor to Colonia and back once, years ago now. I had 33LY jump range, as I recall, and I was very happy with that. It was a fun trip, my first long-range one.

This isn't the same T6. I sold that one at one point, and bought another later because I missed having one. This one is a bit more engineered, and gets 39LY or so. I could do better with it, but it's still a fun ship. It has a great view. It can't fight, though.

The T6 have a special place in my heart, it made my first one hundred million credits, hauling goods from one system to another.

I will never sell that old gal

While I was waiting to fold space and journey to a good system to sell my platinum, it occured to me that engineers provide very little in the way of modifying mining equipment. Yes, you can lightweight, reinforce or shield your limpet controllers... but what about engineering said controllers to program and use more limpets? Or lasers that extract elements faster? Or seismic charges that only go off when you choose or perhaps be more powerful? How about an abrasion blaster that, instead of blasting, uses a limpet to pull exposed fragments from your 'sploded rock?

Perhaps I'll buy a planet and a base and set up shop myself.

My invitation requirements would be modest: 100 each of weapons inventory, chemical inventory and digital designs.
