Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I have a few of these. I haven't encountered them in game since. There are others I have accepted and then unfriended after they attacked me in whatever ship I was in whenever they saw me.

One of the current ones, when asked why, said they friend request everyone they see, they've got around 2800 friends in their list apparently...
I do hate how fashion and social media and the like changes the language sometimes!

My vette is not full G5 engineered yet, the target wing of 4 (1xFDL, 3x Vulture) are expected to be engineered (threat lv6, based on previous encounter), so they will cook fast me instead.

Funny thing is that, if you attack the assassin target (FDL in this case) when he charge FSD, the whole wing will not return fire...:devilish:
It is possibly due to or related to something I noticed a while ago.

If you catch a wanted ship and follow it about but only attack it when it starts to charge the FSD then quite often it will break off to attack but forget to deploy weapons.

I haven’t been shooting stuff for a long while so this might not happen any more.

....

2 crashes to day, no not the computer, the t9 :) 16 million down the tube.
Wooooops, peace be with your T9s😬

Pledge and earn merits - the wiki article used to be good enough for me.
If you want to support the hardcore power players, check their forum/discord so you don't work against their efforts.
You can earn merits by transporting pamphlets (or prisoners) for any power, but that's either expensive or boring or both, due to the way those are rationed to you. Killing enemy powerplay ships (players or NPCs) in the right systems is faster and (for me) more fun (especially if I can manage for those ships to belong to Denton Patreus 😁).
Hmmm, I shall take the pewpew way if I go pledge some power then. I miss those BBQ station rescue now.

So, I guess it is still happening now (at least for me), this is the 2nd time to complete a wing assassin mission alone in this way.

My vette and constant bumping could have wet the NPC pants may be.... 🤭

So I was reading the thread about the Winking Cat stuff going on, and realized that my alt CMDR could make very good use of 10 million credits and a free Imperial Courier.

He's still in the starting Sidewinder, D-rated so it has a jump range of about 20LY. He had a balance of 6 million. The system in question was about 200LY away, but have fuel scoop, will travel. So off I went.

I had to buy a DSS and an SRV, but I was able to get over there.

Here he is admiring his shiny new ship he didn't expect to have :)

There's two other sites to visit for another 20M Cr. I spent Saturday engineering my frebbie Courier and still had some change left over.
Couldn't get into my Santa suit though and not because of the Minced Pies, rather Horizons.

I would recommend the pewpew way.
There are some good systems for doing this, but you'll have to Google it, haven't done it myself for over a year.

So much I can't remember in my dotage.

Oh, the wetwork missions tend to be illegal, killing civilians. It's worth having an Interstellar Factor bookmarked.

End of first week as a CMDR...

Haven't died recently, which is a plus
Got rid of the Sidewinder and replaced with a bog standard Hauler.
Made ~80 Mil exploring and upgraded to an ASP Explorer (About an hour ago) Again, bog standard.

Unlocked 2 Engineers and now have to figure out how to get materials - Mining?

Still a nasty smell of N00b in the cockpit, but things are improving.
I can now fuel scoop faster than I can honk the system :)

Stay tuned o7
Welcome to ED!

And good luck on your journey to Beagle - an admiral project for so early in your career. Don't wear out your honker :D

I've been doing the Winking Cat riddles. They're nice and easy and don't require a degree in code-breaking or the combined brain-power of Canonn Research to solve them.

It's led to a couple of firsts for me. First one is owning an imperial ship. I've never been a fan of the style. I like the blocky ships in ED ...but a free ship is a free ship and I've actually started to warm to the courier. It's smaller than I imagined, only three class two hardpoints, but it's very fast, very manoeuvrable, stick a couple of small Guardian shield reinforcements in it and the shields stay up for ages. Lots of fun to fly.

Looking up some suggested builds for it led to first number two. I'm not an adventurous combat pilot. My go-to weapons set-up is gimballed lasers and multi-cannons, but on my new courier I've put gimballed beams and a plasma accelerator. The plasma, of course, is a fixed weapon and I've tried using fixed weapons before and just never got on with them. Well... either I've improved lately (unlikely) or (more likely) the courier's agility is so good I seem to be finally able to hit a target with a fixed weapon!

Thank you Winking Cat!

Are we talking the way it should be, the way it was, the way it is or the wait it will never be?
It is what it is. Time marches on. The old ways make way for the new! (I try to keep a positive attitude :D )

Besides, if I was a real newbie I wouldn't have known to do what I did to get what I got. (great sentence there, eh?). I mean, I had all the G3 stuff after 2 days.

Meanwhile, check out the lovely gift, the green Santa jumper. Quite fetching, don't you think? LOL.

Me too, I was looking for clarification on what Chris meant, because there are a few different options there...

Here is my new free toy, with the limited time chrome paint-job and the spoiler/wings/front from the ship kit (I figured since the ship was free...)
