Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

darn i just seen the top price 86,000 i only got 4,000 odd:(
i really need to use inara for selling abit more often
The thing is prices in places like Inara have been reported to them by players visiting the station that was offering the price so there is a good chance that those players or some of the many other users of the external data sources will have trashed the market by the time you get there. There is of course also the usual issue of how out of date the data was.

Krait...Mk II or Phantom?

Yes.

Ok, the Phantom is a bit more agile, gets higher speed and jump range and runs cooler. Very good smuggler ship.
The Mk.II has more internal space, a third large hardpoint and can carry a fighter. More cargo and/or combat capability.
The inability to fit a fighter bay makes the Phantom slimmer so a slightly harder target, the cool running and jump range make it a good exploration ship whose only downside is it needs a larger flat space to land than the DBX.

The MkII is the nearest thing to a direct competitor to the Python, lower capacity but slightly quicker and feels more agile plus you can take a fighter along.

So as @Ashnak says Yes.

Get both then sell the one you love least.

This.... since I started some serious mining recently, I'm wondering will the demands of a market reset like those powerplay / war / conflict stuff on a regular basis?? Or it is really pure player interactions?

I took a selfie:

There is currently a very nice discussion (between @AdmiralDoughnutz and @GraphiteGB) on mapped mining, market observation and sell prices over in the PC subforum: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/391k-for-platinum.596635/ . Definitely worth looking into if you're a miner and don't want to go simply for the miner's tool.

MK2. I never tried a Phantom.

But anyway, its 14Mj for both of em.

I flew a Phantom out into the black for 4 months. It was great even though I died 3 times and came home empty handed mostly. This ship currently has a bounty and has been in storage for several months now. It was an accident where I shot up a settlement because I failed the mission... Come to think of it, that ship is unnamed whihc may be the source of all my bad luck in it.

I've tried a Mk II for combat but didn't like it so much. Of course it was un-engineered, so that may be why.

...
Side note; can I just say how obnoxious it is to be told that a mission timer keeps ticking while you're offline? Really? Was that really necessary, FDev?
All the time in the game runs all the time.

Well FDev wanted an online shared world game that runs in real time so having aspects of the game pausing gets complicated as that changes the time for some but not others.

So it is somewhat annoying that the mission clocks run on while you aren't there it is even more annoying that time keeps marching on even when the game is offline.

There is only one timer that doesn't run continually which is the one for notoriety, which is part of the crime and punishment, which only runs while you are playing the game. They didn't think it was much of a punishment if you could get rid of it by not playing.
I remember in FE2 getting missions and having to determine, before I accepted them, if it was possible to make it to the destination in time. This missions had very short timers. But that game was not real time and so I had to account for the time compression and what not. There were times I didn't make it.

I much prefer the current situation.

Also, I think there have been changes since Ody launch where now if you complete a mission (leave the settlement) then you get more time to turn it in, not sure if its infinite though...been a while since I did any ground missions.

This is quite hard going...

Wondering if it's worth dropping the money on an FDL. A lot of my Python's modules should swap over I guess?

Super scenic place to be grinding CZs though.

Just wish there was a spaceport. Having to land at a planetary base with my canopy shot off wasn't fun!

Edit: oh... there's no more red at the CZ. I think I won something?

Do you have an AFMU? I've been told that the canopy can be repaired with it.

Also, apparently, you can synthesize more life support time when it gets low...

Yes, but it won't repair a module at 0%... so I had to limp my way to the only planetary port, with a broken canopy and only 1/3 of a HUD visible 😹 I didn't know about synthesising life support... I will check that if it happens again.

Meanwhile, I hit allied with my pet faction; only to find they busted down to 11% influence when I wasn't looking 🙀 News report says they lost 2 elections. Shouldn't have couriered that poll data for them I guess 😾

Also they now only seem to want to give me illegal missions, or 8+ threat salvage runs. Last one of those I did was a frikking anaconda with eagle escort, plus a fighter. Suffice to say I killed the eagle, low waked away with 2/3 black boxes and came back for the 3rd. Which is seriously cheesing the system but if it works...

On the up side, I've been doing better in combat since remapping WASD to directional thrusters, moved throttle to RF, and set spacebar as reverse thrust. Even with a keyboard, this allows me to slam the brakes on for a pitch manoeuvre to follow a target and has let to me spinning nose to nose with a few of them exchanging shots. Which is much better than them spinning nose to my tail.

Still debating picking up an actual combat ship. Maybe a vulture. I had 660 mil when I started, now down to 480 after buying and double refitting this python! Still 36 hours until my iCourier arrives.

Also, a very precise jump was made...

I had my 2 CMDRs meet up today, because Cora needs Weapon Schematics and Codger has a bunch. I figured I'd try trading them.

I have 2 computers, although only my main computer is set up with a joystick. The other computer is off to the side, also, so not convenient for gaming. It's got lower specs, too, but it was my main computer before I got the new one, so it's good enough to get into the game with.

What I did was fly both CMDRs to a settlement, individually, using my main computer. Then I logged into Codger on the secondary computer, mouse and keyboard only, but that's ok for just walking a little. I was able to drop a few weapon schematics on the ground, and then pick them up with my Alt. We were in a private group. It worked fine, although it was a bit awkward.

It was kind of cool seeing 'myself' walk toward 'me'. Lol. I guess it gives new meaning to "me, myself, and I".

Yes, it's very slow. Congrats on Competent!

I hit Deadly earlier this year. I was actually surprised by it, it's been years since I ranked up.

Deadly is the last rank before Elite. It is also the half-way point, with as many kills in front of you as behind you.

I seriously doubt I'll ever get combat Elite, but hey. Maybe in a few more years, lol.
