Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

By this time, I've noted where all the outside guards are. I get to a terminal inside the building (IND) and locate the locker. I creep round to it, open it with the relevant code and... there's no chemical sample. I just grab everything anyway. Nothing.
Someone was quicker than you! 😜

It's annoying when the mission item is not there. In my experience, when that happens, even the mission pop-up message (top right) that points me towards the location is bugged, however.
Many times I've had a mission NPC missing from the settlement, however.
You can try relogging, though: while it's true that all the other lootables will disappear, the mission item should still spawn (sometimes at a different location).

Saying the Anaconda gives away a small amount of cargo relative to the T9 is a bit generous, since the reworking a few years ago the difference is 320 tonnes around 50%, but you are right about speed and jumping.
I don't understand. Please explain. OK, I got it, you're talking about the T9, my post was about OP changing from T10 to Anaconda, which is what they were originally considering. Your quote about the T10 was included in the post that I replied to, but didn't get included in mine.

A T9 would be a non-starter for me if I were a beginner. It's too slow and likely to get blown up. I would never advise a beginner to use one unless they were up for the challenge.

I am never getting to Rho Cassiopeia:

That is all.

I'm trying not to...

I've made myself commit to going at least 10 jumps before stopping to survey a new system - no matter how tempting it might be to have a 'quick peek' for any interesting worlds to scan.

I'm 30-40 jumps in, and this is my 4th system to fully survey...

It's about 500 jumps to Rho Cass, and about 500 back from there to the Bubble...(via the Bubble Nebula)

It's a binary system, maybe I'll 'just' survey the 25 bodies around the primary, leave the rest for the next wanderer to pass this way...

Although if I pull another 'too fast for orbital cruise' like I just did, maybe I'll be getting back to Jellyfish on Braben's teleport express...

I can't leave a system without full FSS, but I map only certain bodies. :)

BTW, I was just watching Frameshift Live#2 when I saw Tyres post above, but even better was the last 15 minutes which is worth watching just for Arf trying to land a T9 for the CG at mega ship with FAoff for the first time.

Very brave thing to do especially on a live stream!! WD Arf, o7 - I am still crying!!!,

Just watch the last 15 minutes if you don't want to see the whole 2 hours, and tell me if I'm wrong.

Ok, lets have a post where I don't whinge about finding what I set out looking for

I'm 1k Ly into this trip, and I can already clearly see the Heart and Soul Nebula's ahead - still some 5k Ly distant:

I'm not used to seeing Nebulae until I'm rather closer.

Is this a new thing?

Or a failure of observation on my part?

Or maybe it's just because there's less light polution all the way out here?

Looking back, I can still clearly see the Jellyfish Nebula, 1k Ly (well, ok, 999, but who's counting?) behind:

This too is unusual to me. Maybe I just haven't been paying proper attention.

Also, that is one spectacular view!

1k Ly into this stretch of the journey, still lookin' shiny:

Apologies for the double posting!

So I opted for a new Anaconda using the profits I made from the T10. I'm really liking it so far. I transferred mostly B/C graded modules to it, yes there's less cargo capacity but I can get from A to B quicker so it's not really a loss. The A grade modules are so expensive. I'm doing some more runs for the CG for more upgrade money.

Almost certainly light pollution is a major factor.

The first time I struggled out to the California Nebula I was stunned when on one jump I was distracted by something so flew a long way from one of the jump point stars on turning the ship towards the nebula the change from this unimpressive red blur in the previous system was almost unbelievable. For the rest of the trip my time for each jump was at least doubled as I flew out to get the view.

Why struggled, well it was long before Guardian tech was unleashed and I had little or no engineering on a freighter trying to haul to the farside of the nebula in a CG to establish/enhance a laboratory out there back when the nearest stations where in Maia.

Ooof, yeah, I remember that CG! I think I limped one load down there in a T6, and decided 'Yeah, nah!'.

These days that seems barely a stroll (even un-engineered!) and the CG market boost would make it nice and lucrative, so we wouldn't mind even if it was a bit far!

Here's a random alien vista from my recent travels:

Excitement is starting to build!
After several days with the expedition (link!) I have begun to find my feet in the art of exploring. Having a carrier full of friendly pilots to support me and answer my questions really helps, I can't thank my fellow pilots enough.

Now, I've managed to log my first biological discovery, and got my first discovered AND mapped system!

I also found out how to take third person screenshots. Go, me?

Given I am in my second week of Elite, I'm pretty happy about this, and the expedition is proving a lot of fun!

Thankfully my fellow pilots seem to agree, as my friends list is growing.

Onwards and outwards!

Sounds like a hell of a time - have fun out there!

After a marathon session yesterday (I'm not sure I have the stamina for more of the same today - still Covid + (though the line is getting really faint now!) I'm halfawy between Jellfish Nebula and heart and Soul Nebulae - 3k Ly ahead, 3k Ly behind.

A little over 25% of the way to Rho Cass now. About 13% of my total jorney to Procyon via Rho Cass...

Coming in to land on a random rock somewhere:

This one had 7 bio-signs:

nqZ4VaB.png

I found 4 of them on this, the plateau I landed on.

Near on an hour of trundling around, and I couldn't find the other 3.

Time to move on!

I just landed here for the first footfall - and to see the big crater:

KwKxfQ5.png

And so here we are, halfway to halfway to halfway there:

ByqmaEa.png

That weird looking cluster of stars just left of centre may bear investigating... it looks to be on the coreward side of my present location, so I may be able to swing by that way on the way back from Rho Cass...

Time will tell.

Completelly lost track of how many systems scanned, planets mapped, footfalls made. Oh well. I need somewhere between 150 and 200 million credits worth of explo data to hand in to get Exploration Elite, so better keep scanning and mapping!

I'm still out in the boonies. I decided to fly up the galactic plane a bit and see what I run into. It seems that there are more undiscovered systems up this way, although I'm still finding ones that are already tagged.

I found this interesting item, called a "Fumerola Nitris", which appears to be a combination of a fumerole and some plant life. It scanned as a biological, though. I could not shoot the flowers off, so no mats.

The planet was really cool looking, too.

Covert theft three.

Scanned the man for level three access. Found the locker I needed and its code. Opened it. Grabbed the documents and was immdiately shot at by a tech. I suppose I was seen - be more careful next time!

Good fun though. I was hating these after failing them so many times but I know what to expect now and how to do stuff. Not exactly easy so I need more practise.
