Yeah~! FD did great works on making unique boost sound on different ships. The Keelback is a very cool ship, and it has the best boost sound to boot!
the Keel boost sounds like seismic charge from Boba Fett's Slave One.

The Cutter needs a specific strategy to win. Assuming G5 dirty drag drives, use boost to get 6km from your opponent. FA off boost turn and full revers throttle - reverski manoeuvre. Now use long range engineered lasers and multi cannons to attack, boosting and turning again if you need to restablish a long range position. Takes a bit longer to kill NPCs but it always works. You can kill players in vettes and condas this way too. The Cutter is fast for a big ship. Use the speed. The conda and vette just aren't fast enough.Just had my first buy back screen in ages and it was against a Master NPC! The Cutter handles like a fly in molasses.
I guess a fighter would help too. MC Condor is my favorite now. * Against NPC only *The Cutter needs a specific strategy to win. If you are not concerned with maximising cargo space, yes a fighter. I like the Taipan as it lasts longer, especially when you get an NPC pilot to high enough rank for a fixed beam Taipan to be effective.I guess a fighter would help too. MC Condor is my favorite now. * Against NPC only *
I don't use the Cutter for combat oriented activities much, but when I do it works well enough. I just put massive shields on it, a bunch of turrets, and a big old multicannon (no spinup time on the huge, for some reason). I do fly in reverse if it seems needed, but none of the fancy FAOFF stuff for me. I actually unbound FAOFF so I can't accidentally hit it and confuse myselfThe Cutter needs a specific strategy to win.
Toggling FA off while you reverse turn makes a big difference on a Cutter. It's worth doing. just bind it to any easy to reach button, set it to hold rather than toggle so that it's only on while you hold the button, then you can't get confused. as you tilt back, hold down the button until you have the enemy in your sight, then let go. if you time it right and anticipate the enemy flying over your head, you can keep the fire on them all the time unless they come straight at you, which is what they do a lot of the time. On the X52 it works well on the pinkie trigger or the flat button on the left of the flight stick. Basically, it just saves time and makes fights less tedious.I don't use the Cutter for combat oriented activities much, but when I do it works well enough. Usually though I'm in my mining Cutter or hauling Cutter. They both have decent shields and weapons, enough to fight off the common pirates I might encounter. I use the Corvette for anything more difficult.
I've reverted to taking on Novice Assassination missions (Cowardly, I know!), so that I have more combat time to experiment with the flight model. The Cutter needs a specific strategy to win. My impression is that the huge multicannon doesn’t spin its four barrels like the Gatling gun based ones do but fires the barrels in sequence which is why there is no significant lag, I have to admit I haven’t tried to test this out with the external cameras.I don't use the Cutter for combat oriented activities much, but when I do it works well enough. Mining for platinum in a haz RES using the Cutter is very lucrative and a lot more entertaining than hauling. Have you tried that? I rate it a bit more entertaining than core mining and a lot more lucrative. I try to make it more engaging by always trying to beat my best run. I can fill the Cutter with 522T in 30 minutes. That's worth 140 mil. If you include the time for travelling and selling using a fleet carrier, you can make around 150 mil per hr. I think that this is the sort of activity the Cutter was made for, though they probably didn't know it at the time.I've reverted to taking on Novice Assassination missions (Cowardly, I know!), so that I have more combat time to experiment with the flight model.
So far, it really isn't cutting the mustard (no pun intended) and I think I'll be getting the dustcovers out till I find a high profit haulage run.

I didn't pay enough attention to the huge mc reload time, but I assume autoload enable you to fire all the way non stop until you run out of ammo??? I'm most of my MC with autoload if they are not corrosive or incendiary.I remember being told not to waste the autoload special effect on the huge MC.
Holy moly! I have just over 6200 kills. I rarely do combat on purpose, though I do sometimes. But 146,000 kills, on one account? And you do it while watching TV?I've killed about 25,000 NPCs in that time, bringing my total in this account to 146,000.

Krait Phantom is fussier over landing spot than DBX and ASPX, although ASPX is not as easy to land as DBX. It is particularly difficult to land a Phantom in the rough ground bordering some Guardian sites, and I use a DBX for this.I've actually not tried landing on a planet with the Krait MKII and didn't realise it was an issue. Though I also default to my Cobra MKIII when it comes to general exploration, since that's my primary ship and he should get first dibs. Plus he's very reliable at getting me out of scrapes. I'm more comfortable with it.
