Your mileage may vary, but it's one of those boxes that you might want to tick, if you're going in that direction, and then there are plenty of unexplored systems for you to discover in the surrounding area.

The thing is, I WANT to go, but I get itchy when I'm too far out. I'd love to see some of the "sights" explore strange new worlds and slap my name on a load of undiscovered places far off in the darkest reaches... although I have quite a few discos already.

I'd love to say I circumnavigated the galaxy (both ways) but I know I'll never do it :D

If 13 billion credits is not enough, I don't know what is 🤣
I'm feeling the tritium costs after a 16 jump each way trip to Rackhams Peak. But I "only" have around 2 billion credits, which actually isn't enough for a group deep space mining and exploration expedition I'm thinking about. Already scouted a location.

Back to what I'm up to. I'm still heading out generally toward the core. I haven't reached my desired star density yet, but I decided to stop at this one system and check out a planet that looked interesting because it had both geological and biological signals.

Turns out I found a (fairly) rare Fumerola Nitris. It's a biological and can be scanned with the Artemis, but there's also a fumerole attached to it. Looks pretty cool.

The planet itself was quite tiny (.05G) and had an Argon atmosphere, which gave it a lovely azure glow.

There were also Nitrogen Geysers here, and the crystalline structures dropped Selenium. :)

It's not just Sag A*, it's other thing like seeing the Void Hearts in a NSP (i missed that one), going to the very top of the galaxy:

This place is seriously lonely and eerie, I loved it:

Travelling to Sag A* in a max engineered Phantom was an early game goal that kept me busy unlocking engineers for weeks. It was on the way to Sag A* I sold data at a DSSA carrier and made my first Elite rank in exploration. The bubble-Sag A*-Colonia round trip is only beaten by the outing to Salome's reach and back through the Abyss as top experiences in Elite for me. Perhaps it really depends on how much you can immerse yourself in the idea you are actually exploring space.

The last picture (the eerie planet with two neutron stars) is the perfect setting for the SRV music.
When I find those specific places, I love to get out in the SRV just for the soundtrack.

I did take a drive to that far edge of the crater the ship is in.
You have to have your wits about you getting to this system. It's way above the galactic plane at the end if a sequence of neutron star boosted jumps, and there is no scoopable star here. There is a scoopable star less than 10ly away. I remember diverting to that star first, filling with fuel and then jumping to here.

On the last leg home on our long trip with two famous explorers, we didn't take too many photos or recreations. But, we visited some of the mollusks in Smojai area that were discovered originally in April on the lost mission. Now, on file with universal!

They haven't clipped on me yet but I haven't flown the Python meaningfully in a while. Need to try more stuff. I love the way you can switch the lights on and off though - very cool idea.
