What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

As I said, I'm totally in a slump since... a long time now. I still enjoy the game, but can't find a project I can stick to for month or years and just finish. So I decided to take a different root and just build habitats. Just habitats, no full zoos, just to keep playing the game and improvimng my building.
Same here, mostly doing random builds at the moment which I end up deleting. There are so many building pieces I’m always discovering things but ultimately the frustrations with biome textures and maps stop me making progress on a full zoo.

Building is really hard. I am just never happy so I always start a new zoo and never finish one. So I decided this time to mostly build buildings and enclosures that exist. That way they are realistic. So far it is working

Not today but over the last days:

So, obviously I currently can't have a heart project, and as I said, want to concentrate on building single habitats to improve my building skills. Nevertheless, I don't want to go those to waste and blueprinting can sometimes be a hazzle. So I planned to do two seperate zoo files (Mega Zoo A and B) and use barriers here to divide the zoo into sections.
Zoo A will have a Safari area with african elements, a desert area with deserts of the world, a little run down road style, another section will be very oalace like and last but not least there will be a dschungle world with temples and ruins and such. Mega Zoo B will include an old run down zoo element, a garden area with japanese style, a rocky mountains area with a north america theme, and a coastal area. With defining sections I will build whatever habitat I am currently in the mood for wherever, decorate around it and IF I stick to it, I can make a full ohn zoo out of it. Seperation is to just not kill my PC with too many animals.

Built this little Sable/Wildebeest habitat today, just a little something to slowly get back into things ^^

Work in progress!
Not today, but the most part of yesterday.

Not gonna lie, I miss having a "real zoo" with plans and background history and such. At the same time I feel this single habitats are the way to go for me at the moment, until my real heart project finds me.
Looks great! May i suggest something?
Just do a relaxed small zoo. Im sure you will love it. No big themed areas, just mildly themed habitats and flex your building skills

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that... uhm... three times. Doesn't work for me. I have to have a vision for my zoos, like I had for Unity back in the day, and I feel much more drawn to high theming.
Currently there is just too much going on in my head, I'm "verkopft" like you would say in gernan. I'm sure once I manage to let go and find my centre again, an idea will come.

I don't usually make big buildings and I wanted to try it, so I started a tropical hall. However, this is not for me. It's been very difficult and I've noticed that my laptop was having issues with performance. I scrapped many of my ideas and ended up doing something basic. This has not been fun.

Well howwwwww-deeeeeeeee....

Been a bit busy these past months, but today I wanted to share that, due to boredom, I typed in my username (DarthQuell) into the YouTube search bar when I noticed the PlanElt zoo stream #10 popped up. And I was all "Huh? Whah? Que? What sort of madness is this?"

So, I watched it, when @Eltanin Casciani said: "...the fire salamander tree by DarthQuell..."

And me all:

When I play PZ, as much as I enjoy the in-game music, sometimes I prefer something else. Here is a remix I made in BandLab of one of my favorite rockabilly songs: "I'm Sorry" by Brenda Lee

(I'm planning on eventually singing it:eek:, but then if I do that, I'll make tons of enemies🤪)

Official version for those curious:

Imagine if we get a rockabilly/1950s theme in PZ. Dang, imagine how the PZ theme would sound like!!!

@Aramar May I ask: Did you first build the outside or the inside and built a shell around it?
It was a chaos and did a little bit of everything at the same time. Basically:
1 Paths
2 Building walls with pieces
3 Barriers in habitats
4 Roof
5 Plants, rocks, enrichment items in habitats
6 Decortations on the inside of the building

Edit: that process for each part of the building, so I did the tapir paths, walls, barrier, roof, habitat. Then moved to the next animal...
