So, for the longest time I've had a very specific way of constructing my zoos. I lovingly call it "the panopticon" - I start with a big staff building, and then start building around it in a sort of "stacked" way - habitat, guest area, habitat etc. Once I'm finished with all the habitats, I'll add a monorail or a gondola to go around the zoo, above the habitats. Then I add entrances to all four sides of the zoo, and some extra staff rooms on the outskirts. It's a very efficient way of constructing my zoos, which is why I always end up doing them that way. The big problem is that it leaves very little room for creativity, especially when it comes to habitat design. Every time I start a new zoo, I'm like "this time I'll make a nice-looking zoo with habitats that aren't just squares! Finally I'll try building a safari car ride that actually enters the habitats!" and then I start building the new zoo and immediately get overwhelmed.
..So, yeah, I've started a new zoo and I'm overwhelmed

Everything's already so spread out even though I'm barely 4 habitats in, I can feel the guest complaints over too much walking (despite all the damn benches I'm placing all over the place!!) at the back of my neck already. I'm having a hard time visualizing where to leave space and how much for the restaurants and gift shops. I'm trying to build a train to go through the bigger habitats, but I'm having a hard time visualizing where to make the station/rest area because I can't place entrances/exits until the whole track is done. Blah, I'm so close to just giving up an making another square zoo.
(Here's a picture of my last finished zoo to demonstrate what I mean with my usual boring building style)
