What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

The mini zoo has steady progress, even if its more on a foundational level instead of the prettiest stuff to show of. Besides finishing the fencing of the wisents and building a little vet with an exhibit for boas included i wanted to start to tackle one of the main idears that inspired the whole repurposed habitat idear and that is a classic bear pit, now refunctioned for japanese macaques. So far i mostly just got the rough outline of the different elevation levels and the fence of the pit done, but i also included a little water feature with the perfect depth for the macaques to bath. Hopefully once i decorated this habitat more it will still be distinctly resemble a bearpit in its outlines while being an otherwise rather pretty monkey enclosure.
Also whooo japanese macaques! For how much everyone complains about no monkeys these guys are seriously underused so im happy to hopefully rather sooner then later present them in a very pretty habitat that is just right for them

Yeah youre so right, really underused indeed.
Ive wanted to build for them for a long time, but never really had an opportunity to do so since

Imagine, if we had a scenery brush...

And it's your fault, my friend. With your Sneaky mini zoo project. :ROFLMAO:

The zt1 zoo is alive, but I need something now and then where I can be creative. I also have to wait to see if the secretary bird really gets in, I'm actually finished with the African savannah area, it would be stupid to carry on with the African tropics area and then the bird comes anyway.

I also got some progress in, even if most of it cant actually be seen on the picture due to it being a custom shape for the backside of the house, which currently still is mostly just concrete so ill show that off once i actually did the interior.
For the more obvious and actually visible part, i divied the different height levels and gave each of them a little theme, following the idear of enritchment through different substrate, featuring a shallow pool for the macaques to bath in, with the surrounding brick wall suggestioning a previously higher water level as it was once meant for brown bears not tiny macaques, a sand pit with some larger stones, the start of what will be some rocky out crops to mimick the macacs natural habitat and giving them a different kind of climbing opportunity, a large pit where the concrete was replaced by a soft bark bedding, which will feature the main climbing structure aswell as allready having a functional forage box below the substrates to make sure that the macaques will digg around in it from time to time and lastly a small part of the old concrete floor, which is allowed to stay for diversity.
On the top of the concrete, i thought what better way to show an effort for better conservation and animal wellfare then a green roof with flowers and bushes for the local insects and birds to live in? Pretty happy with the progress so far, if i keept that up this will possibly be the first actually finished build of the zoo, which im quite exited about as its been quite a while since i actually finished something

Ngl its really cool how so many more people got inspired by my silly little post that was in turn inspired by aramar with the goal of actually finishing a zoo for once.
Imagine, 5 years into the game and most of the dedicated community finally finishes their first zoo xd
Honestly would propaply be the coolest 5 year anniversary thing we could do here on the forums, celebrating by actually finishing zoos

Mine might have to be a mini zoo plus 2 as at the moment I am looking at 17 habitats - although one could maybe be a wild species living adjacent to the zoo.

actually a list of 17 animals or just a rough estimate? id defenetly would love to hear your animal list!
Mine also currently seems to get a bit higher then the 15 i set out for, but oh well if its 5ish animals more then it will be, just gotta make sure i still finish till the end of the year ^^

17 habitats, a couple of which have multiple - but not many - species. Also one is an implied habitat and another is for a possible next DLC species…

I mean I finally started up the game again after ages of not playing and finished the farmland scenario...does that count?

Might actually get back into it building zoos, though the urge to return to BG3 yet again instead is still pretty damn strong xD
