What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

Honestly, another thin metal pole piece is probably worth the price of admission by itself for me...

How I promised, my new guests of the Australian Habitat, also i never shared the name of the zoo, so the name is "Gran Zoologico de Sonora "

Pokemon Game is played through and caught all 400 Pokemon
I put it down before I finished it because I'm struggling to get used to the non-linear gameplay. It is kind of annoying having to charge through areas that are massively overlevelled to get to where you next need to go. I'll pick it back up and start again probably some time in the near future.

Anyway, on-topic, I so badly want to play the new DLC but it's just so damn hot (it's currently 9.38PM and 18 Celsius and my laptop is making me sweat like crazy without even running a game). I'm doomed to wait for a cooler evening. I did revisit my zoo briefly when I got home from work but the entrance pathway is super congested and the only way to fix it would be to move my skunks and badgers to new habitats, and I don't really feel like building for either of them. So, once I'm able to play again, New Zoo Time.

Apparently I was lucky and chose the right order. For example, I completely dispensed with the auto battles. Only in the Ghost Arena was my level too high. I've heard from some Poketubers that they had similar problems. I hope for the future that the levels will scale. Sorry for OT

Been struggling on starting a new zoo (put Hinterland Zoo on hold for now), but the new DLC was enough of a motivator for me to sit down and get to work. I really enjoyed building the one-off wombat habitat I made for the Twilight Pack, and so I decided that I'd make a temperate Australian zoo with the same kind of building style. The first thing I did was place down a selection of plants and building pieces I would use throughout the zoo to keep things consistent (most ripped directly from the wombat habitat), as well as two blueprints for information signs. Sidenote, I did not realise the silky oak tree (which came with the Twilight Pack) was a species of Grevillea, which makes it the first Oceanian tree added to the game since the Australia Pack! Still, what we really need is more eucalypts, hence why the stringybark still dominates this park (even thinking of calling it "Stringybark Zoo") with the silky oak only occurring in small clumps.

To start off the zoo, I placed down a winding road across one side of the map to give somewhere for the zoo to join up to. After that, I spent many hours playing Planet Landscaping and building up the area between the road and the edge of the map - for some reason my brain doesn't like me placing down pre-made foliage clump blueprints and instead insists I place down every piece of foliage individually, which I did. Still, I was pretty happy with the final result.

After all those hours placing down bracken, I relaxed a bit by temporarily plopping down some emus and wallabies into the grassy clearing and just watching them roam around. It was a fun way to get a good look at them given I won't be building for them right away (thinking the entrance area is going to be mostly South American, with capybaras, caimans, capuchins and maned wolves).

After a long break (aka a sleep given I built the rest yesterday) I played Planet Carpark and built a low-budget parking lot just off the main road, complete with a small seating area amongst the trees. I also built a special bus parking area given I always use coaches as guest spawners.

Hopefully either later today or tomorrow I should get started on the zoo entrance itself.

Progress on Mwitu Zoo!

To the right is the pygmy hippo habitat. They're so cute, definitely one of the most unused animals in the game. Left are the aardvarks.

Look from the other side of the habitat.

Since originally they didn't have enough swimming area I had to extend the habitat in the back, and I made them an artificial pool. I'm thinking of covering it. Obviously WIP.

And here are the aardvarks. Again, the habitat was too small so I extended it in the back. As you can see it's obviously not finished. I really like the rock work I did here.

I hope to build a restaurant which will be adjacent to the cheetah habitat - I really want to have the king cheetah in my zoo. And then it's time for some striped hyenas. :)

Hopefully I'll have more time to play this weekend. I've been splitting my gaming time between PZ, The Long Dark and Valheim, and it's hard when you want to play all three of them!

Usually african penguin habitats take me say 1-3 hours to build depending on the size of the habitat or rockwork for example , well this one took 1 entire week. That 20 metre deep canyon now is starting to look the part with a really nice south african rocky beach habitat for some african penguins and leopard sharks (yes static models of course)

It’s nice to see the process and planning!

They really do, great improvement from the last barrier
Thank you! :)

So, I was thinking that my raccoon habitat was a bit over the top in regards to size. However, I liked the indoor area. So I deleted it from the raccoons, copied it to a new place, doubled it up, angled it and made a habitat for Stinky and Perfume out of it.

Quick habitat but I really like it.

I love the random gemsbok in there with the oryx. :D
There are three Gemsboks though :D Wouldn't leave that fella alone.

Honestly guys, I'm thinking of re-doing the raccoon habitat as a whole. I'm just not happy with it. And since I play with PZ Plus, I could make it much smaller and more realistic and such. Those tiny rascalls get totally lost inthe big habitat.
