What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I re-placed the gift-shop that I had build, demolished the second Dhole and first Sloth Bear habitat, as I wasn't happy with both of them, replaced the Bengal Tiger Blueprint I took from Yuma Zoo but am in the process of improving and adding a viewable indoor area to it.

I decided to use the Dhole habitat, and probably also the Sloth bear habitat as transition habitats between the rather urbany made indian section to the more jungley-africa section (jungle feeling at least in this part), letting the guests come from Jungle to Jungle again in the future.

Honestly guys, I'm not good in building Dhole habitats and I haven't build for a bear in forever... sigh sigh. But happy and excited to be able to work on Unity again. Hopefully I also got something for the role play to show also, next week or so. Want to build another gift shop in the Indian area first.

So the penguin building has this window view into the penguin pool's filtration system - surely just a small amount of water pumps and stuff needed right? Well I just learned I hate gutter pipes, i never use them and probably won't again unless I have to do all this pipework again for another zoo. On the note of piece counts and all that stuff, the workshop blueprint which I liberated some items from was a massive room even more complicated than this at 12,000 pieces. Using simple gutter pipes and round cylinder blocks to make the tanks, I got it down to 1000. 1000 is still an awful lot but its pretty hard to streamline building to make a realistic looking filtration room.

Bonus here is there is signs and a sign educating guests about how the zoo pumps water from the habitat, cleans the water and returns it back. As complicated as this may seem, it only took 90 minutes to build.

Finally, now that the patch is here i felt comfortable playing again and it felt great!
The first thing of order i did today was saying goodbye to my old ugly trash entrance and starting to build a new one with the new fresh and fixed gift shop, aswell as working on the entrance area of my zoo, the petting zoo.
Say hello to 3 very charming ibex that play stand in for some lovely domestic goats. Guests cant enter the habitat, but the fence is low enough to pat them if they feel like vibing at the fence. Just how this charming fellow demonstrated here, with a nice view of the australia house in the back.
The petting zoo area will connect into the water bridge of the oceania/"water" area, with imaginary kunekune pigs being housed next to the bridge with acess to the pond.

And two overhead shot of the habitat and the souvenir shop next to it.

And thats it for the start of the year, i had alot of fun and it felt nice to make a more "lowkey" habitat to get back into the game and to finally have a clear direction for both the entrance i was very unhappy with for a while and to finally know what animals to put in an area with rather limited space that feel fitting for the entrance while also having nailed down a place to put the inhabitants of the future petting zoo packs, which save to say i am quite happy to recieve!

Long time ago I started a new zoo called Ovonia Park, but after building the entrance my laptop broke down and I left that park aside until now. As the name suggests, this park will have oviparous animals only!

Any chance this is available on Steam Workshop?
I'm way too lazy to make my own custom water filter station 😂

I gave a new chance to the souvenir shop and built one, but my vendors got stuck at the door and I lost a lot of money. I deleted the shop and placed 2 normal desks until Frontier fixes this mess. In order to recover some money, I built a very simple arachnid house and I like how the new spider hats look here!

I also added emus and tried to make something different with the viewing area:

Really nice. Should also start keeping Emus in one of my Zoos. Only Animals I'm keeping yet from the Grasslands Pack are all Butterfly Species

I haven't quite parted with OakWood yet, but I need to get a video out and I do still have an obligation to fill with me saying I would build for all Eurasia animals (Except the bear of course) OakWood has gone from loading maybe 1 every 5 times to not loading permanently, so until a fix for this so called "bug" is resolved which I doubt anytime soon, I'll be making a small European zoo with the last 3 animals, and maybe a few older European animals. Not starting with the entrance cause I hate building entrances with a flaming passion, so we're starting with a golden gem to hopefully brighten the future of this mini series.

I finally finished the gift shop I've started in the very beginning of my zoo - or better say I redid the interior. I deleted all the (amazing!) non functioning giftshop props from the workshop and used the modular gift shop items which are so great! I'm glad we can finally use them without risking on loosing our zoos. I also got creative and did a detailed ceiling structure which was probably one of my most fiddly works I did in PZ yet.
