What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Building a street is as*. Every time I made those stripes on the street, I wish we had a path that have them... its such a pain 😩

I mean I finally started up the game again after ages of not playing and finished the farmland scenario...does that count?

Might actually get back into it building zoos, though the urge to return to BG3 yet again instead is still pretty damn strong xD
You surely mean a dark urge, right? 👀

Did quite a bit in the Devil Conservation Centre today. First up was building the cassowary habitat, which, as one of the newer additions to the zoo (both in the lore and in reality), has more luxurious foliage work to make it resemble a tropical forest (whilst still using plants that can survive outdoors in southern Australia). Directly adjacent to the cassowaries, attached to the same building, I created an under construction habitat meant to house the Goodfellow's tree kangaroo. If we don't get tree kangaroos in the next DLC, I'll probably repurpose this area for either crocodiles or flying-foxes.

Sidenote, although I've bred cassowaries previously, this was the first time I took notice of the chicks following one of their parents, and realised they specifically trailed behind the male. Given the dads do basically all the parenting work IRL, I just thought that was a really cool detail!

With the last of the public habitats now in place and my zoo now basically printing money, I went back to complete some of the old builds I had left unfinished previously due to budgetary restraints. I properly vegetated the dingo habitat so it's no longer a dustbowl, and I also added a roof to the previously open-topped reptile house.

Having done that, I then built this simple entrance archway to welcome guests to the zoo, with an information booth placed within. As you can see, I also decided to change the zoo's name to the Tarrabah Conservation Centre, given I thought "Devil Conservation Centre" was a bit boring. The name still basically means the same thing as "tarrabah" is just one of the indigenous names for the Tasmanian devil, but at least it sounds more interesting.

In regards to the focus of the zoo, breeding Tasmanian devils, things have continued to progress. Another 4 imps were born (3 different litters), bringing the current devil population at the Tarrabah Conservation Centre to 15, 8 of which were born at the zoo. Ngarra Jr (pictured below), the first and oldest of the devils bred at the zoo, also finally reached sexual maturity, and has now been moved into his own enclosure with the recently adopted female Alinta in the hopes that they breed. As more of the captive bred devils will start reaching maturity soon, I'm going to have to start work on the backstage breeding facility the next time I play!

I still have a ton of work to do on the Tarrabah Conservation Centre, both in regards to setting up the backstage breeding area and decorating the public part of the zoo, but at least I now have all of the on-display enclosures placed down. Given this, after my session today, I quickly threw together a haphazard map of the zoo traced over an aerial screenshot:

If you could have lets say 5 more animals for this zoo that would magically appear in the next pack besides a treekangaroo, what would you choose?
Now that we actually have a small australian zoo, what would be the best way to supplement it properly?

  • Short-beaked echidna is an obvious one, if we get them in the next pack I'll probably either mix them with the koalas or build them their own small habitat in the grasslands area
  • Lace monitor is another fairly obvious choice, very common in zoos of this type and also able to be kept outdoors in cooler climates than many other monitors
  • A grey kangaroo, probably either an eastern grey or the Kangaroo Island kangaroo. I've been to lots of zoos, and especially lower budget zoos, that have both grey and red kangaroos, and a grey kangaroo is especially important for a more temperate zoo like this
  • Australian pelican to add another species to the coastal area
  • Honestly another exhibit reptile, either that or a native frog (probably green tree frog). Apparently the word "bearded" was added to the dictionary in April alongside Goodfellow, Hamadryas and all that, and if we do indeed get a bearded dragon they'd be absolutely perfect for this. I'd move the burrowing cockroaches (which are out of place in a reptile house for obvious reasons) over to the tropical north area to make a spot for them

Do you know which species of bearded dragon is the most common in Australian zoos? In Europe it seems to be the central bearded dragon.

Sneakily pushing the animal count up by including two exhibits in the barn next to my vet today, with the interior of the first one pretty much finished. Due to the exhibits all having to be 4 meters tall and this exhibit being placed not just next to a 3 meter wall but with the last of these 3 meters being a slide meant to burry it 2 meters into the ground. Yay
I lowerd the floor inside the barn by roughly a meter, so there actually are some frogs spawning in. Limiting the back side with a faux rock wall i terraformed them a habitat out of faux rocks, mulch pieces and lots and lots of vines, to make it appear like they can be everywhere while also still leaving ~8-9 spawns open for them with 3 in the picture.
Thx to the goated piece called asian water supplier i could even include a custom water feature, reminding me that the only way to actually place water below 4x4 meters in size are 2 metall pots, neat planet zoo workarounds for ya.
Thought about splitting this into 2 or more smaller exhibits, but while more realistic it just looks better as one whole so i left it be with its 4 meter width as quite the luxury appartement for any lucky frog adopted by the zoo

I made a 15,000 square meter habitat with an elevated garden terrace overlook for African elephants, reticulated giraffes, zebras, and nyalas to help take up a big chunk of the empty space I needed to fill in.

Okay, I think this thread doesn't like me. Yesterday it wouldn't let me include the full image but only the attachment and now it doesn't wanna let me post a reply unless I do it as a direct one to another post and pics still don't work either >.>

Anyway, little guys moved in and at least the habitat is pretty much done. Oh yeah, also can use emotes, really? What is going on in here?

Oh well, pics...that I had to upload off site and link because the board hates me still :'(

Yesterday I had similar problems uploading pictures, maybe it's a forums issue that should be checked? I solved it by signing in from private browser 🤷
