What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

How did you do that? 😲
Those Cages look awesome and especially those Mountains. I'm way too bad at creating Mountains no Matter if I do it with Rocks, Terrain or both
Time and A LOT of patience :D. It took me hours to build the whole thing.

Using reference images helps a lot too. I could have never come up with something like that myself, so I try to roughly recreate landscapes/pictures I like.

😆 Reminds me of the Time I wanted to recreate Mt. Fuji in my Japanese Zoo. Maybe I should've better tried it with Rocks instead. Maybe then it would've at least slightly resembled it. Normally I first create a Mountain/Cliff with Terrain and then add Rocks to it

Got an unexpected day off today, been using it to work on my 'The Path of The Past' area in 'The Dry Lands' and gotten some more signs for it done.

Definetely try placing the rocks first the next time you tackle something like that. It's tedious, but in the end you get the shape you want. Since rocks will be on the surface of the mountain it's easier to then adjust the terrain accordingly and not the other way around.
At least it worked for me this way plus the texture of the rocks is much better than that of the terrain!

Absolutely love this American Cheetah Picture. I've also built a few Museums in the Game but I think I've never built one that is really Part of the Zoo (if I don't count the Thylacine Cinema in the Australian Zoo as a Museum). Might do that sometime.
Are those on the left Side supposed to be related Species or just similar ones? Just want to let you know that none of the 2 Species of American Cheetah is very closely related to the Cheetah. I think they are more closely related to Mountain Lions. I'm not 100% sure if I'm right but I'll look it up later (should really start to work now)

The text on the sign explains it a bit, it is just from Wikipedia. But that isn't really visible on the picture.
Both of the species get referred to as the American Cheetah, even though none of them are actual cheetahs, but are evolved in a way that resembles the modern cheetah. Kinda like how a snow leopard isn't actually a leopard.

So the cheetahs in the zoo is a substitute for the extinct American "cheetah", to help tell their story.

So, today I finally have time to upload the pictures.

Unfortunately I forgot which day we were at Wiesenthal Zoo *scratches my head
We just keep going.

I already gave you a little sneak peek for the african penguin enclosure. That’s done now. I like the fence with the square wooden tiles in the frront.
I hope the beachy flair comes across a bit. You can look into the cave from the other side. The wall is still a bit bare there, maybe you have a good idea?

Furthermore, I finally found an animal for the former Swan Lake. Giant otters! When I created the zoo, I didn't really want to do anything thematic ... but well ... I can't completely avoid it. But I actually think that it's not that super thematic yet. I orientated myself a bit towards swamp huts.
I still have to come up with a cover for the visitor bridge.

C'ya have a nice evening ❤️

Looks great, i love the natural and simple style!
For the wall, i would say some custom educational signs could do wonders!
I really started to love making them myself and im sure you could do! Also as a little tip, use the I for the font. You can rotate it so that you only see the bit on top. Doing that you can also vary the thiccness of the line

Do you by any Chance know where to find the original Files for the Education Boards?
When I've built my Wolf Park, I wanted to have a custom Timberwolf Sign that's based on the original one

You go to documents, frontier, planet zoo, user media. Everything in that folder can be found in game.
If thats what you wanted to know great, there you go. If you wanted the files for the ingame education board pictures i have no idear. My best bet would be to find the picture on google images and cut the new one in with gimp

I don't have any pics, but I am working on my newest project: Longview Zoo, based in Longview, TX (which has NO Zoo in real-life, unfortunately, although Tyler has one).
Anyways, I built a nice entry area last week and upgraded it a bit, adding some Latin jazz to spice it up, a little garden, and some art a close friend of mine did for me.

Today, I added a nice African penguin habitat with a small house to protect them from the weather and a large pool for them to swim in. I believe I have 15, but I can't remember. I then added a generic animal house I designed that is very flexible and cam be adapted depending on the zoo and which species are in it (it has 2 habitats to house any smaller species, like aardvarks, although for some reason salties and gharial need less space). I added some yellow anacondas in it and eastern brown snakes, plus a small group of meerkats.

Maybe I'll get some pics tomorrow to put here

🤦🏻‍♂️ How couldn't I think of googling them? There's probably a Database with all of them somewhere
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Planet Zoo\ProvidedCustomTextures

There you'll find them all! You might have a different Program Files setup depending on your PC but you'll find them all there. If you bought the Deluxe version you'll also find the wallpapers in the Planet Zoo Folder as well. :)

Yooo, you guys, I made this simple tunnel for the meerkats and now they can't even use it. Come on now, these damn hitboxes. This is ridiculous! Anyone has any idea how to fix it without removing it? Ugh. I already pulled it out of the ground a lot, at first it was even lower. But even putting it higher doesn't help.

Didnt do much today, but what i did was honest work. I laid down the pathing i wanted to follow to the main plaza and food court of the zoo. After a bit of fickeling and reterraforming it was done, but i still had some time and motivation left, so i started work on the hole in the middle. First i wanted to put an oak tree there, but then i got the idea to turn it into a small habitat for greek tortoise. The oak sadly was to big and needed to go, but im quite pleased with the result.
Who wouldnt want to watch cute little tortoises while waiting for their food? + it could serve as a little resting and escape place for the planned free roaming peafowl of the food terrace, something they would surly appreciate.
