What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I started working on this new trail in Tharmachati called "Journey of the Moon Bear". The idea is that the area was originally intended for giant pandas but the zoo didn't up getting them, so they went for their backup the moon bears.

It's meant as a kind of thematic kid story where you follow a moon bear that travels downwards from the Himalayas for winter, only to travel too far and ends up meeting all kinds of animals. The idea would be that each animal and each place he visits would not be the right place for him to sleep. Like the water buffalo exhibit would be "too wet for me to sleep" or the clouded leopard exhibit would be "too hot for me too sleep". Stuff like that, to at the end of the journey end at the perfect habitat with the moon bears in them.
Don't know why I see that just yet, but I absolutely love story driven sections. Looking forward!

Seems like the entrance into the water is too steep @Bearcat9948 . I know, I know... Gotta love that game for its traversable area.

Speaking of: You know why I rarely have Ringtailed Lemurs in-game? I LOVE them IRL, but these buggers break out EVERYWHERE in Planet Zoo. I had to add these three metal beams on the ground to every mesh piece (before there was just one on the edge on the ground) because they simply walked through the mesh piece otherwise. WHY?!

Taking a deep breath now and switching from Amity to Murmeldorf. I'm freezing, taiga biome seems more suitable and I want to try myself on my first badger habitat.

This is such a cute idea!

Here you go, a picture of the new Orangutan habitat -- I also added more climbing space and some tile shade after taking the picture (dead trees by @cesar creates)

That looks great! I'm not the best with heights and different levels and always look for good examples - your habitat is one, it really makes a difference!

I really like your lemur habitat, and especially the fence, although it was made out of despair :D

I enjoyed playing in my new zoo a lot, the change of biome gave me so much motivation! I initially didn't want to add exhibit animals here, but even though I could use some money and conservation credits from the old zoo, I decided I needed a cash machine ;) So I went on to make a desert-styled exhibit house with six exhibits. There is also a little garden overseeing a pond, and two more exhibits. The idea is to fill them with terrapins and the newt, once we get that, so that we have a kind of fire (cause.. dry and desert) vs. water theme.

Guests love it, too - a little bit too much of course, because the path which was a pain to build causes them to get stuck :D

Everyone was unhappy, so I continued to layout my entrance and a food court, which I might finish tomorrow. I think as soon as there are more places to go, they won't ALL go to the exhibits.

Hippos can’t really swim irl.
They can only descend to the bottom or propel theirselves through the water
Yeah but they can float, which according to that photo they can't do. Like they would be able to ascend and descend in real life even though it isn't "swimming" as we know it.

Started a new project today taking various ideas from different zoos and notes I’ve made over the years.

I have set myself the challenge of starting building when the new pack comes out (want to wait and see what the flatten to terrace tool can do) and having a finished zoo (with potential for development and expansion of course) by the time the presumed summer DLC is released.

I literally never finish anything so this will be something of a challenge but I hope it works out ok.

Thank you, @Lea_G ! I love the australian vibes of your zoo, by the way.

Try to limit your species right away, works wonders for me. I too would like to finish Amity before the summer DLC, but not too sure if I can manage. It all depends on how long my current Planet Zoo Phase lasts and when the urge to paper craft kicks in again.

I really enjoyed my time in Murmeldorf this evening, building my first ever badger habitat. Too large of course, as always.

Good thinking, I often start with a huge list of species and it just becomes a to do list rather than something fun.
Yep, same. I have 20 plannened in total for Murmeldorf, which is already quite a lot. However, since I layed out the whole map I worked on a habitat in the middle of everything rather than "have" to do XY next. My motivation is a lot higher now.

But I still haven't finished a zoo yet, so I just hope and guess that the new merhod will help :D

Finally took an up-to-date shot of my park and I'm planning to maybe make a quick map. Also, looking for advice -- any advice on what to do with those two huge enclosed greens (one in the center, just above those pink shade structures, and one in the top left, between those animal pools? I can't think of something to do there that fills the space without making the zoo feel cramped, and I'd like to not add animals in either.

I'm not really sure this is a "what did you do in Planet Zoo today" comment, but it fits best here. We're about a week away from the new DLC and I've kind of hit a slump. I don't want to add more things until the new animals! I don't know their habitat size requirements; yes I've built one otter habitat which is huge so should be fine, and I have some capybara ones that I'm hoping are fine, but I'm kind of in an anticipation mode. I think, with this being not centric to one region of the world, which most of my zoos are built around, it's harder to pre-plan for the new animals.

So what's everyone doing to prep for the new animals, if anything?

I've mostly just made empty space for them (and cleared out some bad terraforming in the hopes that I can improve it with terraces), but it's also good reason to redo habitats. Of course, I'm in sandbox, and I don't know if you are, but I've just been fixing random things I feel could be renovated -- odd roofs, unrealistic exhibits, drab buildings.
