What happened to the FSS ?

The old modules did not need to be removed in the first place. The old mining laser wasn't removed, the old docking computer wasn't removed, the ADS, IDS & BDS didn't need to be removede. I want them to be put back, yes, and I want this kind of situation, which is unprecedented AFAIK, to be corrected and for it not to happen again without justification.
They didn't need to be removed. But they also didn't need to be kept either. Mining lasers are a very different kettle of fish as is the old docking computer. The new mechanics add on top of the previous mechanics and have not replaced them. They both have their place, the same with the old and new docking computers. They do different things.

What the old BDS/IDS/ADS gives you is already given to you in the FSS, they have been replaced. Hence there was no need to keep them. As stated they do not need to justify it. Yes I know what you and some others want, I wish you luck.

I agree, the only benefit to removing the old modules was schadenfreude, which does not help to sell more copies of the game.

Nope, they were replaced as part of the very popular upgrade. The only people sulking about it seem to be a few ex-players or players already no money to be made there.

On the other hand DW2 is very popular and has probably sold quite a few ship skins, game copies, second game copies and has gathered some good publicity.

A triumph all round really.

Hmm. Reading the last page of this thread, I dare to say that there are some notorious names, which try to turn ANY thread with the word FSS somewhere inside into the same bile of hate and complaining.

I by now am tempted to use the report button and see what happens.

Please do - the FSS has had a devastating impact on the game for some players that FD have never acknowledged.

In my case:
  • Pre-FSS - pretty happy with the game as a whole and enjoying it.
  • Post-FSS - not playing at all because I don't enjoy being forced to use it.
Despite what the likes of Max 'Last Word' Factor have to repeatedly say on the subject, this is not what progress looks like.

I doubt you even know what my feelings on the matter are.

I really do wonder why the mods allow trolls to get away with the amount of disruption they cause to civil discussion. Its really clear which posts are empty and add nothing to the thread and yet its allowed to continue.

That is what it is there for...

The new update introduced a bug...now we wait for the bug fix to go out and repair the issue...it is game breaking, because once the screen breaks for me...the only way to fix it is to reboot the game.

Would love to know when these FSS bugs will be fixed as I just can't continue with my PC commander as they are very annoying when you're on a long haul exploration trip. Also does anyone know what's going on with the info bug for the FSS on first scan? Having to zoom in twice to a planetary body is kind of annoying, especially since the FSS now randomly resets after zooming out, this bug was reported after 3.3, would have expected it to be fixed by now.

Just came back from my last trip, over 5000 ly outside the bubble. First discovered around 12 systems, including an ELW. Earned around 130 million.
Whenever the awful mechanics of this game (RNG) begins to seriously annoy me, I always had fun to start a trip, each trip longer than the last. This is now gone. Pity. But the FSS is the single most important explorer tool. To break it means to break exploring.

I tried today. I was in the bubble, and used it just for finding USS. It crashed every time and I had to restart the FSS (not the game). No fun at all.
I hope they fix it ASAP.

They did sort of acknowledge. They admitted that the FSS wouldn't cover all the play styles they had identified, so they went and did it anyway and many of us now have no game.
There's something rotten at the heart of the games industry, with their attitude to paying customers, and it stinks.

Yes there is. It was a terrible way to treat long time players. Really nasty.

Well, the good news for those that don't like the FSS is that with the current major bug with the FSS where it all goes wonky you are all forced to fly to distant objects to scan them. :p

So if the Hyperjump drive packs up, is there another way to get to another system? If the FSD drive packs up is there another way to get a station or planet is a reasonable time frame. If your hard points pack up, are there any reasonable alternatives for combat. Nope.
You'd use the self destruct button...that's almost instant! and when your weapons pack up you go to ramming speed... everyone knows that
