Elite / Frontier What other space games are there?

I really enjoyed Mass Effect, probably the best Sci-Fi RPG I've played. There's no real space combat involved, but it is very epic and you do really feel that you're shaping the destiny of the galaxy.

Mass Effect does not put you in control of a spaceship other than letting you point on a map and watch a short cutscene as the ship takes you there. It is entirely a 3rd person action RPG - and an excellent one as such.

Well that's some fairly high praise, looks like I'll be putting some pennies away for it. I've read that the combat on the consoles is a little stop start and that it's something that they are addressing in the PC version. I like the fact that they are taking away what they have learnt from the console feedback and feel that they can make the alterations into the PC version - it's shows some real developer integrity.

EDIT: Looks amazing from a production standpoint - have put it on Pre-Order.

Hello everyone!!!

My first time on a forum, I'm a french Canadian so please forgive me for the error.

I've been playing FFE a long time now, and still dreaming a sequel. Im the kind of guy that like a game when is realistic and complicated yet intuitive.

When you have tasted the freedom and the physic of FFE (still not perfect), its hard to play game like X3 or Freelance even if the graphic are 100 time greater than FFE.

Anyone have tried Evochron Renegade? It have planet landing and a lot of similarity with FFE, plus you can play multiplayer. I'm planning on buying it,
any comment please?

Thanx to all member and veteran member of this forum for having me the desire to participate and dream with you on this forum.

Hope it will be soon a reality!:)

Welcome to the forum Sadsky. I did have a play with the demo and it seemed like a little bit of fun but not really what you would call a deep game. Passes some time tho.

Thank you for the answer Steve O B Have:). I'm wondering that if you just played the demo, wich have a time limit of 90 minute I think, perhaps you missed some of the more serious stuff about this game. A lot of people seem to compare Evochron Renegades with Frontier.

Maybe some of you have buy this game and give us some insight about this game. Is it what it pretend to be? Are the star system actual astronomical reference like a portion of FFE?

It seem promising:

Again, sorry for my english as I am a french Canadian.

Welcome to the forum Sadsky hope you like it here.

I was wondering what the website for Evochron Renegade is, as I would'nt mind having a look at it myself.

Evochron RENEGATES;)

Thnaks for the info on this space game. I found this review which is rather detailed and seems to indicate that that game is very good actually.http://jaguarusf.blogspot.com/2005/11/evochron-alliance-review.html

I want to land on planets again and explore some asteroids, so I'm getting the demo too!:)

:)Anders

Just beware my friend that this articles speak of a previous game called Evochron Alliance, not Evochron Renegades.

The first is more freelancer style I think, with certain aspect of FFE. But the segond one seem to have much more in common with FFE.

Still, thanks everyone one for the warm welcome!!!:)

Can someone post some sort of minireview of Evochron, with specially detailed description of physics and scale?

I don't trust gaming press anymore, neither off- nor online.
