What teensy tiny things would you like to see changed in ED?

I've got one more - have a different sound for when the discover scanner doesn't find any new astronomical bodies. It's silly to have that dramatic orchestral stab alongside a message telling you that nothing has happened.

Like this?

My small change requests:

1) I'd love to be able to change the console colour (when NOT on a PC) - I'd actually quite like it to be set by manufacturer - for instance Core Dynamics being BLUE, Lakon being GREEN or something - some variety! You could add a 'colour challenged' option for those who need less colour changes because of inherent colour perception issues
2) I'd love the option to say 'no' to cargo/data awards for missions - after all that makes it more attractive for the mission giver so there is no logic for it to be compulsory
3) I'd love to remove the ability for passengers to insist on cabins to themselves - it serves no useful purpose and unnecessarily nerfs being a taxi-driver

It's a literal space honk though. It generates and uses gravitational waves to make gravitational wave interference patters which can then be deciphered to detect the mass and range of bodies within a system, bodies in other systems being below the noise floor for the gravitational wave frequencies generated. The "sound" you hear is actually the frequency of the distances within your ear follicles changing due to these gravitational waves... or something like that. ;)

I almost believed that scientific explanation. That was really good! Utter nonsense of course...

Information about your next destination being shown in three places as you make the jump I have always found to be utterly ridiculous and very poor design. Just use the left side panel to give us the details and be done with it - should take maybe a day or two at the most to get sorted - everything's already being shown, just a case of designing a new layout and implementing... Any longer and than that for a job like this should raise concerns about the codes design and functionality.

Sometimes the things you think are the smallest are actually the hardest to implement.
Just saying :)

...

The "Slow Down" warning message should appear while there's still time to slow down, rather than only appearing when it's too late.

Your case in point ;)

This can't happen without reshaping a lot of the SC mechanics. I'm not petty enough to care it says "slow down" instead of "overshot" or whatever, especially as in many circumstances it DOES give the player enough time to prevent overshooting with the right technique.

Yes. And the sound should be a single low trombone note, depressing in quality, played as a held note but unconvincingly, and descending by a semitone before fizzling out in a brief but disturbing downwards pitch slide.

Hm, a tiny minimal effort - maximum outcome Detail?

My vote would be on : The dreaded "Everything starts spawning from scratch when Player enters SuperCruise/arrives in System" Syndrome.

What I'd like to see, if there's no Island Merge to an already active Instance :
- Client quickly generates a random, but fully developed SuperCruise Traffic picture
- Traffic based on basic System Data (Faction States & Population)
-> Player sees a fully developed Traffic picture immedaitely, anytime when entering SC or arriving in an inhabited System

Voila :
- no more "oh, traffic.... I'm not alone for once"
-> instead, it's more-or-less busy Systems wherever inhabited you go.
-> Big, High-Pop Systems have alot of Traffic, tiny Low-Pop Systems have fairly little
-> Systems at Conflict have plenty of System Defense Force Ships checking out passing Traffic, Outbreaks/Famine have Med/Food Convoys and more rundown Ships
-> improves overall experience and "lifelike Universe" in all Game Modes and for all Players (no more "where did everybody go?!" moments anymore after quickly leaving and re-entering SC, no more clear & scripted spawn-obviousness)
-> also gives a more realistic picture of what the System is experiencing (Maia after increased Alien presence? Tons of Federal Military Supply Ships and Combat Convoys everywhere in SuperCruise I guess, plus a bunch of scared NPCs)

I'd really like to see that and it really shouldn't be difficult to do.

The "Slow Down" warning message should appear while there's still time to slow down, rather than only appearing when it's too late.

Alternatively, change the message to read "You should have slowed down earlier, but now it's too late!" At least that way it would be accurate.

The 'slow down' message relates to your ship being affected by the gravity of a nearby body ie your ship is being slowed down by gravitational pull. If you are going to fast, it says speeding - like around stations.

If you are flying towards a planet, and 'slow down' appears, then you are already being affected by the planets gravitational pull.

Just remember to slow down when you are 7 seconds away

Reduce the size of the hit-box that beings up the left and right panels in the SRV.
When I'm in 'headlook' mode there is only a little sliver to the left and right where I can look that doesn't bring up a panel in the way.

Let the game have it's way to troll you [haha]

You are quite right, by the time you see the slow down message it is too late, I immediately turn away from the target and by the time you turn back you should have slowed enough. Better than over shooting and doing a 180.

Just a few off the top of my head ...

-Open the galaxy map in the direction the ship is facing
-Show distance to stars in system map when you hover over them ... as is done with planets. In fact, show the distance and type for everything without hovering as it makes assessing the system quicker and easier.
-Give us a keyboard binding for requesting docking permission
-Keep the details of the star you are jumping to displayed until you arrive, rather than fading out after a few seconds
-Add a "SC after jump" toggle, so that you don't always exit hyperspace at full speed. Explorers want to scan the arrival star which is difficult when you blast past it (or sometimes into it) at the speed of light. It is annoying to have to throttle down in hyperspace every single time. If you are in a hurry, turn "SC after jump" on; if you are exploring, turn it off.
-Add warning if you are about to offline FSD or thrusters while they are in use
-Allow life support to top up reserve after being offline. Makes no sense for the reserve to be used up when the ship is capable of generating oxygen forever.

On the small end to have an option in Graphics menu to adjust the HUD Colors.
On the big end BGS is dealing with 65000 persistent stations infomration, reflecting the flow of people and goods.
I know I am utopist. :p

The most minor thing I can currently think of is the questionable spelling in the description of the T9. It annoys me everytime I think about buying one and then I don't.
I believe it uses the word "Cargoes" instead of "large amounts of cargo" Although "Cargoes" might be a word I am fairly certain it would cause an argument in a game of scrabble.

Another thing I just remembered was a while back I wanted Anarchy stations to hail me with a hearty "Yaarrrr Cmdr, a rogue like you is always welcome in this vile place" Or something similar. Especially so in the Pirate outposts.
