What type of controller will you be using for Elite Dangerous

If I'll have to use a joystick, I'll rather use one of my TAC 2 together with my Amiga Joystick to USB converter. :)

OMG I so want one of those converters. Home made?
Any how, I will probably be buying a new HOTAS controller before the release, any suggestions peeps?

I expect to use my Saitek X52 Pro and may create a custom keyboard app for a tablet or touchscreen monitor.

Hoping there will be multi-monitor support anyway. Will at least want Skype on one monitor to keep in touch with my group during mission/combat.

I'll be making my own control panel. If any of you are into MAME then you will know what an ipac is. Being able to assign separate buttons for different functions on your ship would be a great benefit as you would have a response speed advantage over other players.

This is assuming that the game will allow you to assign functions to specific keyboard keys (which I really hope).

woof woof!

So you're going to fly your spaceship...from your spaceship oddball?...I like muchly! ;)

I know its not a controller, but I'm sorting myself out with a Triplehead2go so that I can surround myself in spacey Elite goodness!

Brian :)

Just have to play the game and see what works best.
I always liked keyboard controls because that is what I grew up with. However I suspect that some kind of analog controller is going to be useful.
At the moment I use a Logitech G110 gaming keyboard, an XBOX 360 controller, and a Logitech trackball.

I would also like to use my PS3 Duel Shock3 if possible. However @Space Gamer's joystick I remember that joystick well with my Amiga. I had a Yellow joystick just like it but for the life of me cannot remember what it was called. Best Joystick ever. Especially with Kick Off 2.

Competition Pro ?

Awww I had a few of those - one of which started making crunching noises mid game whilst playing StuntCar on Amiga.

I'll be going for mouse/keyb or joystick for Elite D- not interested in console style controllers (but would get one if that was what it took).

I will wait until I see what options there are and how well hey work before replacing my old joystick with any new controller.

Anyone thinking of using a wheel:-
z axis rotation with wheel, x axis with pedals and y axis (if there is one) with buttons? (tbh it seems like a daft idea to me but I have a wheel sitting here doing nothing).

Look up xpadder. It lets you assign buttons to keys and runs in the background, even automatically changing different key profiles when you open different applications. Has templates for whole host of different joysticks and gamepads. Worth the couple of quid for u limited downloadability.

I'm hedging my bets a bit, got xbox360 controller but just bought Saitek x52 pro which I hope should be lot better/more accurate.

I will be getting what ever HOTAS logitech product is available on release.

I played all the FreeSpace games on an original MS Sidewinder. Unfortunately you don't get Midi ports on newer PC's and the drivers probably won't work in Windows 7...
