What's on the menu for Planet Zoo? 🍽️

What are the big ticket animals right now?

1. Leopard
2. Gibbon
3. Capybara?

I’m not so sure if all the species that are popular in the community here and on the meta wishlist can really be counted as the big ticket animals.
What do you think?
Possibly a lynx as well. But I'd probably narrow it down to the same list.

What I mean by "big ticket animal" is not really a big animal (the ticket animal for Australia Pack was the Koala, and Meerkat for Africa Pack); my idea of "ticket animal" is something unique, something really NEW, completely original, with whole new behaviors and animations. As for the Beavers, I mean, they are kinda cool, they build dams and everything, and I would consider them a goid icon for the NA Pack. Europe on the other hand has nothing really unique to it... NA had Sea Lions, Beavers, and more, but a Europe DLC would feel pretty empty. None of the potential animals seem unique enough to me... That's my main issue with it. Also, it would look really similar to NA Pack (same temperate/taiga theming, similar animals...)
I mean, to be fair, beavers also live in Europe too! I don't think the main animal necessarily needs to be super new or unique in every scenario. It just needs to be iconic and resonate with the region.

Looking at the meta wishlist, the most popular European options at the moment are the Eurasian lynx, alpine ibex, wolverine, red deer, red fox, and the badger. I could definitely see any of those being incorporated into a pack. And for me, the lynx or fox would make stellar "iconic" headliners as far as the visual is concerned. Maybe it's because of the books I read as a kid... But I associate both of those animals with Europe. So they could make a lot of sense as headliners.

And those animals, while not totally unique, definitely have behaviors and unique animations that would make them interesting in-game.

(That being said, I always kinda wondered why they only went with one animal for each "headline" image. Two would have been cooler to show off the biodiversity of the packs.)

Being a European, I can ensure you that Foxes are all but zoo animals, they just eat from dumpsters and kill your chickens, and most of the time zoos have problems with wild Foxes sneaking into the enclosures and eating smaller animals.

As for the European Beaver, they're pretty unnecessary. We got American Beavers 2 months ago.

Red Deer... They're pretty iconic, but personally I'd prefer Fallow Deer. You can use em for walkthrough habitats at least

Red foxes are a pest in Australia, yet Australia Zoo used to keep them (Steve Irwin's zoo).

On the other hand, "mundane" for you is "exotic" for me. I've never seen a red fox in real life, despite living in Scotland for a year a while back.

Well, if they added a Red Fox (spoiler: they will!) they should add a silver variant. They're cool af. But we need some kind of Weasel too: I'd love to have a Pine Marten! (basically another chicken thief, but hey we only have 1 mustelid and a tree-climbing one would be sooo cool!) Badgers or Wolverines... Eh, not really my cup of tea but they're something, Wolverines especially would fit in an Arctic/cold themed zoo or in a North American zoo as well, or even Asia if you want

According to zootierliste red foxes are kept in 180, mostly in German Wildparks. Of course it is not a classical Zoo animal whey you just accept Zoos as holding more or less exotic animals but if you also put Wildparks they are not rare.
This is what I was talking about: Silver Foxes look amazing! Imagine seeing one while walking in the woods at night... This MUST be added as the "albino" variant for the Red Fox

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that they add a European beaver. I was just saying... Animals being unique to a region/area isn't an indicator of whether or not they'd include them. So they could add the red fox (for both Europe and North America, arguably). They kinda do the same thing here in the US (e.g., eat out of dumpsters) but everybody loves them. I still think they are an iconic animal, regardless.

And the "silver" variant would definitely help to make them unique!

Red or fallow deer would make me happy! A pine marten, badger, and/or wolverine would all be welcome additions for me. Particularly the wolverine because, as you said, it could be employed for Europe or North America, as well as various biome-themed or "area type" areas (e.g., arctic, taiga, woodland, small mammal, predator, etc).

As for the Europe Pack exhibit animal, I'd choose some kind of Newt! It's a cool looking animal, it would be the first Salamander/non-frog amphibian, and it would really fit in the Aquatic exhibit!

In conclusion, my final European wishlist would be:
-Red Deer (too iconic to leave him out)
-Eurasian Lynx (more small cat representation and one of the largest carnivores in Europe)
-Alpine Ibex (goat species are always welcome, and they're the first animal that comes to my mind when I think of the Alpine region)
-Wolverine (Mustelid, very versatile, and pretty highly requested)
-Northern Crested Newt (exhibit animal, Salamander with a cool crest)
OK NOW I'M HYPED FOR THIS PACK (whatever it will contain)
