Ships What's your Fleet?

I've got around 30 but the ones I use the most are
-Upper Hand, Viper IV for scouting black market prices and RP'ing (4C First Class cabin, SRV bay, 8t cargo bay, ADS, 2 railguns, 2 multis)
-Old Crow, Python for smuggling after I go broke buying and outfitting a new ship (stripped naked, all cargo bays and a fuel scoop)
-Ace Ventura, Orca for exploring and feeling like I made it through the struggle (A class everything, turreted weapons for max laziness)
-Money Shot, FDL for bounty hunting and RP'ing (4C First Class Cabin, KWS, FWS, Interdictor, SRV, ADS, 4 disruptor cannons, huge fixed beam laser)
-Deep 6, T6 for mining (holds about 20t, about all the mining I can stand)

As for my ships there's only one reason for them to exist: massacre missions in conflict zones (for g5 materials as reward).
I'm moving from system to system looking for war/civil war with comfort distance between CZ to nearest station.
Trying different ships, different weapons, modding weapons, changing tactics to make current ship most effecient in CZ.
Most recents ships:
- Anaconda
- Crusader
- T10
- Challenger
And of course DBX (about 60Ly) when I want to gather some materials.

I have more ships than I know what to do with but my primary ones are:

2 Corvette's, one built for pve and one built for pvp

1 Cutter used solely for running cargo

2 Anacondas, one for engineering modules and one for storage of modules

4 Kraits, one for pvp, one built for long jump range, one built for thargoid hunting and one built for kind of everything

1 Python that is stored in Robigo for obvious reasons

1 Fer-de-lance for PvP

1 Federal Assault Ship for PvP

1 Clipper built as a pvp torp boat

2 Diamondback explorers, one for pvp and one for exploration

1 Courier built for long jump range primarily used for grinding mats

Hmmm, lets see if I can remember.

2x Corvettes: PvE combat, Expedition fun long distance exploration
Cutter: trade and Power Play 1 trip Rank 4 build
Anaconda: 75ly, long range explorer, thin on amenities but massive jump range for those thin star areas
Python: multi-purpose Bubble hopper and doer of all Outpost things
FAS: anti-xeno build
AspX: 63ly, mid-range explorer for when I want that amazing Lakon view and a smaller ship
Dolphin: small passenger transport
Cobra III: multi-purpose small
Viper III: 800m/s racing build (not finished)
Courier: data-farming, wake-scanning
IEagle: not sure what this one is for... just still have it cause I like the looks
Sidewinder: kept for nostalgia

Not much of a harem fleet, but more of a small more than anything else. But here they are;

AspX - Salem She's been my mainstay exploration ship since before Horizons. She got me to Elite in exploration, and I can't see her being replaced by anything any time soon. The Salem is my
guiding light in the black, when I'm with her I am never lost. And she doesn't need AFMU's because she's a strong, independent ship.

Federal Gunship - CryoXHawk This well-built death machine(and mother) was my primary combat ship since having lost a Vulture a long while ago. Fitted according to the rules of Rinzlero7o7o7,
her multicannons chew threw any hull or shields that currently exist among human space. Just hearing her warcry of that glorious BRRRRRRRRT sends chills down my spine. Oh, and watch out for her
twins, Felicia and Sammy.

Federal Corvette - Milney Now here is the big momma of my harem fleet. She's still getting acclimated to the family, but boy she is one big mean mamma jamma. Having twins of her own
as well, when the three are together, their firepower is second to none. Oh yea, I almost forgot to mention, she loves to dance.

Orca - Tristan My one true love, my home away from home. She may not be as swift and cunning as Salem, or as strong and vicious as either CryoXHawk or Milney. But she is mine, where I go
on many dates passenger missions with her that involve sight seeing, or going to places beyond the comfort of the bubble.

Beluga - Heart of Luna I just got her, but she's big and very huggable. Her grace is unmatched, beauty and elegance enough to make Gutamaya green with envy. I feel like her and I are going to
have a great relationship in the future despite the unfortunate news about Saud Kruger liners getting the passenger restrictions removed.

Sidewinder - engineered throughout for jump range (its my shuttle and its cheap to transport)
Cobra Mk III - same
FDL
Python
Krait Mk II
Krait Phantom
Type 10
Corvette

Ships I've owned and sold: Type 9, Vipers, Vulture, Python (#1), Anaconda, Clipper, FGS, FAS, Beluga, Orca, Dolphin, Adder, Hauler, Eagles, Type 7 and that is all (I think) [I had a Mamba in Beta but I don't count it]

Old gamers might recognise my naming scheme.

Asp Explorer - Dig Dug (formerly Ultima) Used to be my exploration ship. Now converted to a miner. Tried general materials collector/miner build, but that would require component swapping. Probably will move it to Colonia because I want to try more of this mining stuff that is so fashionable right now. Also I think I'll rename it again to Boulder Dash.
Chieftain - Jumpman PvP. A compromise between meta and my preferences.
Dolphin - Space Taxi For taking rich people on tours. Decent jump range so I can be done with them quickly before they think of any silly requests. Moving to Colonia.
Federal Corvette - Archon Current PvE and multi-crew hospitality ship.
Federal Gunship - Mutant Camel's Revenge Former main PvE ship. Moving to Colonia.
Imperial Courier - Blue Max Mainly the Bubble runner. Also has a SRV for surface prospecting and missions.
Imperial Cutter - Paradroid Tried to make this a multipurpose mission runner, but it's too big for it. Use it to run PP stuff sometimes. Might convert to AX role, but I think I need to get a little better in that.
Krait Mk.II - Forbidden Forest AX ship and very good at that job. Might convert to mining/material collector/general mission running role if the Cutter takes its place.
Krait Phantom - Ultima IV Current exploration ship. Currently flying this in the black.
Type 9 Heavy - M.U.L.E. Cargo hauler. Used to be a miner too, but I stripped all of that stuff and prefer to have something more agile for the new mining.
Viper Mk.III - Crossfire Weapons test platform. Hardly use it. Might sell it.

Edit: June update: Dig Dug, Space Taxi and Mutant Camel's Revenge are in Colonia. Paradroid is now the AX ship and Forbidden Forest a miner as planned.
New ship: Python - Suicide Express A general mission runner for BGS manipulation. Can do any mission except mining and piracy without swapping equipment. When I first bought it, I equipped it for some station rescue runs, hence the name.
Planning: An Imperial Clipper for piracy, but I need to do some weapon feasibility studies first. Beluga for the new bubble passenger ship, and might put my unused Pack Hounds to it. Haven't thought of any early to mid 80's Commodore 64 game names for these possible ships yet.
I have an Inara account with same commander name as my forum name here, if anyone want to keep up the date on my fleet and see pretty pictures of it for some reason.

With new mining, I've got myself an imp clipper and called it the Springtail. I know springtails are technically hexapods and not true insects but it still fits the theme.

I like the speed, the fact that it can still carry a decent payload at said speed, has a not bad jump range with engineering, and doesn't even need to throttle down to fill the tank while scooping. Boy howdy is the hardpoint placement taking some getting used to though.

Current Fleet (Solo mode, PvE only, no engineering):
Challenger CHL-GR Forward Unto Dawn - Bounty Hunter / Multi-Role
Chieftain CHF-TN Armageddon's Edge - Bounty Hunter / Multi-Role
Fer-de-Lance FDL-NC Aegis Fate - Bounty Hunter
Krait Phantom PHN-TM In Amber Clad - Long Distance Travel

Pretty small fleet atm that fits all my needs:

Alliance Crusader (Combat)
Krait Mk II (Multirole)
Krait Phantom (Exploration)

Currently using the Crusader and Krait with a Crewmember - still thinking about going crew-less and switching over to a Mamba and Python respectively.

Necro alert!

My current fleet (all partial or fully G5 engineered, most combat ships have G5 HD reactive w a thermal class 1 HRP)

1x Diamondback Scout (stealth for hacking and robbing mega ships)
1x Adder (bc thrusters)
1x Federal Drop Ship (surface missions)
1x Diamondback Explorer (deep space material gathering)
1x Vulture (bounty hunting w/ long range pulse)
1x Federal Gunship (fixed MC battering Ram)
1x Imperial Clipper (fixed beam combat ship)
1x Imperial Courrier (racer w DD5 enhanced thrusters)
1x Chieftain (CZ rails and beams)
1x FDL (CZ/bounty hunting/power play)
1x Mamba (plasma boat)

All my ships (5) have been completely loaded out and specifically engineered for their own specific purpose's.
Two Corvette's / One for combat (High Res, Low Res, Nav Beacons and general bounty hunting. The other which is rarely utilized anymore is an Uber and or a cargo truck simular to USPS, UPS, HDL, Fed-X.

Python's / One dry docked @ Robigo and one retired at Jameson Memorial. 1 and only ship for the first year of play, just couldn't ever sell it.

One Conda, my most active ship, it has a modified engineered load-out explorer build that gets 62+ range. It's basically my Bubble gathering ship. Though I do go considerably South on occasion to gather class 4 Raw's in mass qualities and or out East to the various Guardian sites.

I do have a tendency to buy and try other's on occasion and especial new ones when available.

Over the past few months I've been trimming my fleet. I had gotten it to about 15 ships, but felt it was too many. Of course I could just ignore those ships, they don't cost anything sitting in drydock afterall.

Having that many ships led to extensive moduleswapitis, a condition caused by wanting to fly engineered ships, but not wanting to engineer them. So for example the Python guts would go in to the Krait, and then back again, or the iEagle for the iCourier, and back and forth. Plus, engineering progress was too spread out. A bit here, and a bit there, each ship getting better, but not really close to done. I often marvel at the builds posted here, with each and every thing done to full G5. Sometimes I feel like the only one with modules at G4.3, mostly done but not quite since I ran out of flux capacitors a while ago and am not inclined to search for more at the mo.

So I decided to cut back. One of the commanders I fly with has a fleet of four ships, all finely tuned. He's been playing for years and has billions of credits (as most of us do these days), but is happy with a small fleet. In some ways I envied that simplicity. So I started selling 'em.

But I love Elite ships, so it's hard :) Still, ships like the Keelback, Vulture, Anaconda, T-9, iEagle and more were sold

And that leaves me with seven

Python
AspX
iCourier
Krait II
DBX
Orca
Fer de Lance

Of those I'd reckon the Krait, Courier and FDL are my favorites. But I kept these ships because I like them all and find each useful. Cutting back the fleet had the desired effect of getting these ships closer to done, but even still, only a few actually are. Looking at module storage is a bit depressing, as all of the half-baked stuff from the sold ships reminds me of time not-so-well spent. What a rabbit hole eh?

I was once in your shoes though I did have nearly as many. I thought it to be more prudent to have a lot of ship, and a few engineered item to could or would transfer to other's, thus not needing to engineer EVER SINGLE SOLITARY ship. As I played longer and longer, I came to the realization that it was for me anyway, to have ships specifically loaded out and engineered for my style of play and purposes.

I rarely utilize my Python in Robigo any more, don't require large sums of CR's once one has more than a few billion. I found a shorter way to gather mfg materials and thus could actually eliminate the Python. My other Python was the first ship I acquired after launch on the PS4. It got me to where I'm today. My first love and I just couldn't or wouldn't sell her.

Though I haven't hauled passenger's or cargo in 6 months, I may wish to do it at sometime in the future, so I keep a Corvette fully engineer in dry dock. Though if I go another additional 6 months, I'll sell it.

My other Vette has been fully engineered and has been completely load out to do pew pew any and every where I wish.

My Conda has a modified explore load out which get me 66 ly's but full engineered to be sturdy enough to deal with any bumps and bruises that may happen in and slightly out of the bubble while gathering materials.

Thus I've nailed down to only 5 ships, I'm within 6 months of getting rid of two of them, leaving me and my style of play only three ship. It takes a long time and some serious investment using the time proficiently to determine ones actual play style. And afterwards if one is truthful, will realize one may "WANT" more ships, one doesn't "NEED" more ships.
