when squadrons appear will be on the run from thargoids

The Thargoids are not able to attack the Founders World - its permit locked :D :D :D

Just have to know... any affiliation with the Nautical, Urban, & Transgalactic Tactical Assault Group?

The Thargoids are going to do what the Thargoids are going to do until the Narrative allows otherwise.

Otherwise, they'd have been hunted into extinction just after their release.

The rumour is that DB subbed them a fiver during the kickstarter, so they have access without needing to reach Elite :)

So we have another ' the sky is falling, the Thargoids are coming' thread. Anyone would think that humanity has been kicked out of the Pleiades region. A quick trip there will show you that , that is far from the case. Maybe most of the big stations have been damaged, but the outposts and surface bases are all working. Even the damaged stations are far from abandoned and dead.

It would be nice if it was possible to (try to) stop thargoid attacks in real time. It's kinda silly that they just simply wreck a place without actually physically appearing.

Any attack in real time would last one week, i.e, until the next Thursday update, when we find out if we won or lost, and end up with either a evacuation to rescue ship situation or much joy and happy dancing once the server updates.

Then again, they could make this like a CG, where intelligence has shown that the Thargoids may be headed to Station X and we all need to be there by Thursday so we can run out and defend things, etc. If enough Thargoids are destroyed before the one-week war-timer is up, the CG ends early. We can then spend the rest of the week enjoying roasted Thargoid steak and parade around the station in circles with dead Thargoid bodies being towed on lines behind our ships.

BTW, I never played the original older Elite series and was musing over all the postings here for the past couple of years of people screaming "Where are the Thargoids? Are we ever getting Thargoids? They were the BOSS thing! We need Thargoids now!"

And of course, here they are. :)

This is exactly why I don't want the Thargoids to be a gamechanger. I speak as an individual and minority but I as a player am not the slightest bit interested in the Thargoid plotline. I am in fact completely ignoring it as if it were in a different game. I have no problem with other people doing this content and would never for a second demand that FDev remove it but I won't be happy if I'm forced into it. Content should be optional and with all the happenings near Maia it basically was. Members of my group have shown me rescues from burning stations and Thargoid surface structures which I admit were interesting but not enough for me to go poke it myself.

I honestly hope the Thargoids remain optional content because if the absolute worst happened with most the bubble on fire and random hyperinterdictions at every turn then that could quite possibly be the end for me. I do realise too that random hyperinterdictions were a regular thing in the old games but I didn't play those and didn't know they were a thing when I started ED. Basically it's not what I signed up for.

Just my opinion, of course, but: The Thargoids are being portrayed in all recent lore as an existential threat to humanity, and have been used as a casus belli by a hidden oligarchy in a effort to save the few by sacrificing the many. In specific regard to the Thargoids, we also know that the Oresrians plan to escape their fate by throwing humanity under the Klaxian juggernaut.

You don't have to have the slightest interest in this, but if its going to be done properly, there can be no half measures. The Thargoids cant impact me but also not impact you, because we are sharing the very same galaxy. If you feel the need to flee, I guess its no coincidence that Colonia was created, but I'm staying right where I am, because this has the potential to be both a magnificient and unique experience.

I am not leaving the bubble until I can put at least one small sized ship in my Anaconda (as per description of the SLF bay, it fits ships up to the size of a Sidewinder. I’m willing to give up the option of 2 Sidewinders in exchange for a single Cobra III or Viper IV. Until that happens, I’m not leaving.

So, I really should find a group that is willing to teach me how to fight Thargoids.

@FalconFly, Fdev have said that the story is affected by player actions. Specifically the outcome of Community Goals (sorry but I can’t find the reference right now).

In fact, I suspect the new weapons based on Guardian tech are going to be less poweful than they would have been if the Ram Tah CG had finished better. Obviously this is only a guess on my part.
