Why are player complaining about grinding?

OP, it's because the game is already drowning in the amount of grind in the game.

Grind is basically doing the same thing over and over and over again.
Since the game lacks depth across the board you do the same thing over and over and over again. There's no avoiding it.

FD have also introduced grind after grind into the game.
Want to do powerplay? you must grind these tasks (tasks you've probably done hundreds of times already as these tasks aren't unique to PP).
Want to Engineer? you must grind these tasks (tasks you've probably done thousands of times already as these tasks aren't unique to Engineers and have already been recycled once with PP).

When people say "Grind is all in your mind" etc... they're just trying to excuse the game, just like they do with every complaint. It's not the game's fault it's a massive grind, it's your fault for grinding! As you can see that's a load of cobblers.

You can switch your tasks up a bit to ease the grind but there's so few tasks you can do that even doing this isn't enough.

The game is lacking. Even FD know this. That's why post 2.4 they're going back to rework all the core professions etc.. hopefully to reduce the daft amount of grind there is to everything by increasing the depth of the professions.

Whilst I agree with you wholeheartedly, history has taught us that a lot of people became very rich during the second world war. Has humanity changed? we shall see.

They did!! Although I have to point out that the larger faction sported the bill, not the individual pilot :)

I think both the Empire & Federation are wealthy enough to cater for expenses that may be incurred saving humanity (and themselves in the process) :D

Because... during the second world war, the RAF didn't make pilots grind for their aircraft. The RAF needed pilots there and then to fight for the greater cause.

The Thargoids are a threat to all humanity... so why would humanity impose a grind on it's pilots obtaining the modules needed to save humanity? Illogical! One would worry about saving humanity first then worry about credits or reputation afterwards.

Its a game although Im not rich so in a way when I make Youtube videos or use Patreon I grind for money. Life is a grind.
Haha, Im just joking, its a game. E.D is a game. So commanders keep grinding.
Btw I havent played any games for 2.5 month although im planing on taking a plunge into the cockpit soon.
I also feel that Frontier aint using the potential of the E.D universe. I want to be surprised when driving around with the SRV and find something unique loot or a pile of credits or even a ship. A mission note maybe? A hint to a treasure. A pirate base. I feel when we get space legs, can interact more with NPCs and we are able to build our own base then this game will shine. But E.D is still our baby and we always come back. And as long as Frontier ads new content and loot/expansions im in all the way. I just need something to pop pop pop again. God dammit let me hire NPC wingmen and see them develop beside me and walk out with me on a planet surface to kill Major Tom and his deadly gang. Then we fly of to our remote base in the xxx system a divide our loot. Thats gameplay for ya right there. :)

I find that gathering for the Engineers to be no grind at all, and, like so many other CMDRs have noted, since the removal of the commodities needed, it is no chore at all, imho.

CMIV

OP you lost me at 'thank RNG'

RNG is the reason why Engineers is a grind, a fixed outcome would make it far easier to get modules built for every ship as opposed to shuffling them around.

That and I don't like playing slot machine when it comes to building ships, it's just lazy game design that would be better off with a pro/con point or slider system when making modifications.

If you think it will be a grind then it will be. Self-satisfying prophecy.

I don't think it's a grind and for me, it is not.

Nope no complaints about grind here...because I dont grind. I ignore money grinding and avoid the slot machine guys and just do me own thing...of course, doing so means being permanently broke and bouncing the poverty line while having zero engineer modules but on the bright side...no grind...at all...ergo no complaints. Its quite simple really.

Im not even remotely interested in saving mankind...Im quite happy watching it burn...even have a nice spot picked out to spectate from ^

i think its totally fine you waste 2 hours hauling tones of tea to an engineer. or waste 2 wole weeks to find modified embeded firmware.

Some peeps saying the engineers are to random with the upgrades.
I disagree.
If peeps are only bumping the roll for some god stats, then maybe, but its a god stat, it should be rare to get it.
Everytime I visit an engineer I know what I want, and I get it. That aint random. I make sure I have enough mats for rolls and pay attention to what Im applying as that dictates somewhat what the next roll stats will offer.
Lets make engineer upgrades like buying from a store. Makes me laugh.

I'd sat that either you posted to the wrong thread or you have completed mis-read the topic.

Im guessing its a passive aqggressive reply to another comment I made about the slot machines where I suggested the upgrades be sold in the store...just like in real life where current engineers accept cold hard cash as opposed to using a primitive barter system ^

That would also explain it. Er..I think.
