Why can't we see npcs that we hired in cockpit?

I fly Krait and well... I feel alone with so many empty seats. I know some are reserved for multi-crew, but why we cannot see at least one NPC? Was it so hard to make them in the game or something other is going on?
This really needs to happen. It’s a glaring oversight which leaves NPC multicrew feeling empty.

Flimley

I also insist crew be present on our one-seater ships, and I want to see someone landing my ship when I recall it from my SRV. If my ship is too dumb to land at a station equipped ILS, then it's too dumb to land in a field / uneven terrain all by itself. When I'm in SRV, my mate should keep my seat warm!

Well it would be nice if someone from FDEV would hop here to say their take on this. After all, huge majority of players, if not everyone, would like this to happen.

Empty seats are sad, please make NPCs take them when MC is not in use.
I suspect the programmers who created the holome code are also sad, seeing their effort basically wasted. Putting NPCs (using holome technology) in those empty seats should be a priority for them as well!

Newly hired NPC crewman enters bridge

Crew: "Good morning Captain. So, I guess I can just pick any of those seats?"

CMDR: "No. That's where the HoloMes sit."

Crew: "The... what?"

CMDR: "The telepresence multicrew holograms. So my friends can come watch what I'm doing. They probably won't, because they have ships of their own, they might though."

Crew: "Okay... so the holograms get the seats and I'll be where exactly?"

CMDR: "The hangar bay."

Crew: "Of course. Sir, you do know that these seats in combination with the Remlok suits are critical to survival in case anything should happen to the ship? The hangar bay doesn't have any safety precautions of that kind."

CMDR: "Yes, that's correct."

Crew: "So if anything does happen, I'll just die while the precious holograms get escape pods although they'll just disconnect anyway."

CMDR: "I'm happy we have an understanding. Welcome aboard!"

Ugh, you made me choke on my coffee, love it (y)

I completely agree with the OP though, this has been discussed before and no answer has ever come from Fdev.
Imho it's incredibly lame the way npc crew members are beeing presented.
They are invisible, die on ship destruction and earn money wether or not you have an slf on board.
To have npc crew in your extra seats has been asked many times before and Fdev hasn't even as much as replied to any of these requests.
They say they listen to feedback, in this case and many others literaly, listening only no talk.

Another half baked example.

I think it's on the list but not a priority (IIRC Michael brookes in 2015 said it will come but at a later date) So 2020, why not?

The core elements are there with SLF so next step, the implementation with complete NPC elements and NPC comms as well. Make sense.

Frontier said they want to add both, NPC crew and Wings. They want to get some NPC interaction done first though.
They have all the interactions they need. If I'm flying a combat ship, my NPC will say things like, "I'll boil you up!" If I'm flying my Orca, she'll say something about in-flight entertainment. Done and done!

The cockpit is for the holograms of your friends.

NPC crew is confined to the slave quarters, down the stairs and to the left of steerage, next to waste processing, as far from any escape pods as geometrically possible.

The NPCs are the only friends I have, you insensitive clod! ;)

Just occurred to me, anyone seen AI crew at your ship's helm when you fly out in SLF? Probably not - guess AI crew has their own flight controls/simulator at the back/below next to hangar door.

Why CAN we see ourselves in SLF cockpits?
If they are basically drones with a cockpit, why waste much-needed weight putting in seats and a control system?

I would want to see my active pilot on in a cockpit seat. Lots of ship bridges have space for enough seats for multi-crew spaces AND SLF/secondary pilot seats.

Don't even start to think about life support in SLFs, madness lies that way.

Its been asked hundereds of times, they simply dont care enough about the game, to add little things like this, even if as some suggest the crew models dont use the holo me system, i would expect most people would not mind redoing there npc if they could look right or left and see them. but please remember they only have 100 people working on elite.
